Wedding Woes

Thursday!!

Good morning!! How's it going?

It's almost the weekend!  :D  And it's Prudie day.

Re: Thursday!!

  • I have preschool teacher conferences today.  I hope Max passes :)

    I just submitted tax returns.

DH is in a big funk about work.  He just wants this buyout to happen.  Right now he's just losing money because the pay difference of state/private employee.

Tomorrow is 6let's ENT appointment.  Poor kid hasn't been able to hear in almost 2 months.  His teacher has been fantastic.  Which makes this school redistricting even worse.  I'm being positive to the kids, but I'm still sad inside.

@charlotte989875 Love that GIF!!! Haha perfectly describes how I'm feeling today because FI comes home! :) Its also a three day weekend here so we're planning on doing some skiing and ice fishing.

We're also going to look at a house on Monday. We're not actually planning on buying a house, but this one was shared on FB and curiousity got the best of me so I sent the link to FI and he wanted to go look. Its got the perrrrrfect floor plan for us and the family we hope to have. Its kind of out in the country but still on a little cul-de-sac. The master bed/bathroom is to die for, it even has a double sided fireplace! And it's got a beautiful jack-and-jill bathroom between the other two "kids" rooms with his and hers sinks and everything. I'm really trying to not get my hopes up because we're not planning on buying it... but its got everything we could possibly need and there's no way we could build a house like that for the cost of it right now!

I had a job interview on Tuesday. It went really well but I'm also trying to not get my hopes up. It would be perfect though, admin w/ some AP (which is what I'm in night school for right now), room to grow, steady full time hours... ah, wishful thinking!

  • 6fsn - I hope you get the news you want/need for 6let!  I hope Hs job issues resolve quickly.

Charolett - Have fun in Buffalo!

Last night I attempted to go to yoga.  I knew the class was at 7:30, but somehow in the time I went upstairs to change and came back down - I had convinced myself it started at 7:45.  So I go there (early, I thought) and find the front door locked.  Most of the time the last class doesn't have the desk person there, so they lock the door for safety.  I was almost 10 minutes late, so it was already locked.  Darn it!

H has his appointment tonight to follow up from his racing heart last week.  It's been fine since then.  He did get the bloodwork done, but didn't see a Cardiologist as requested.  We both think that the reason his heart was racing is because he had a mild case of the stomach flu (which we didn't know about at the time) and H was nervous about being away from our house/bathroom.  As it was, he needed to use theirs twice in the hour-ish we were there.  We will make sure we fill them in on the flu part tonight.

I think I might head out at my lunch to purchase the curtains for the baby's room.  I cleaned up in there last night and stripped the bed and curtains.  It's getting closer for painting!  I still need H help in getting the mattress out of there though.

H work also had a baby shower for him yesterday.  They were also very generous!  He figured they would get a group gift, but they all brought their own thing.  Two of the ladies even made blankets!  We also got our high chair from a group gift, so one big item down!

  • @drid Fingers crossed for you! And let us know if the house lives up to your expectations once you see it in real life.

Slow week at work for me. Spent the first 45 minutes at work researching why my Fitbit Alta is making a clicking noise and ended up being eligible for a replacement. I also have H making phone calls to get quotes for furnaces and installation. We have one quote so far but without comparison I have no idea if it's reasonable or not. Tomorrow night is a stop at Sherwin Williams to pick out paint for the stairwell and hallway that's getting painted next week so I'm researching popular neutral paint colors. Super exciting adult stuff going on.

Looking forward to a three day weekend coming up. It's supposed to be in the 50s so H plans to ride his fat bike on Saturday and go for a 15 mile run on Sunday, so I'll have lots of time to myself this weekend and still have time for us to spend together on Monday. I'm going to see if H wants to take me wine tasting.
  • @charlotte989875 Our school district is one of the largest in the state- 20,000 students.  There are currently 3 high schools (ranked 5, 7, and 10 in the state and top 350 in the nation).  The 4th is opening in the fall.  I know the education will be top notch, but the friends are the concern.  There are 110 elementary students in our neighborhood they will get to stay with no matter what.  Some are friends, but some not.  There are 3 proposals open for comment, but the superintendent gets that final say and could make up his own option- the last guy did that 2 years ago.
  • Howdy!

The redistricting is a bummer, @6fsn!

@OliveOilsMom I hope your H feels better! I'm excited for you that your nursery is coming together! What is your color scheme? I have a couple of different options depending on gender - which we are waiting to find out (any day now!!). I got the results of the genetic testing on Monday and the baby tested negative for all chromosomal disorders, which is awesome! I was still at work when I got the call, so H wasn't with me. I asked the genetic specialist to pop the results in the mail so we could find out together.

Last night I rented The Girl on the Train from Redbox - I had read the book ages ago, and had forgotten some of the details, so I was really able to enjoy the movie fully. I was impressed with how it stayed true to the book.
  • @sparklepants41 We did the same thing!  The genetic testing and mailed the gender results!  Glad baby Sparkle is all good!

The room will sort of be gender neutral.  It will be painted a light green color.  It will have pops of pink, blue, green and gray as well.  It will have a tropical/Hawaiian theme.  And really, the nursery isn't coming together! I just cleaned out some of our junk from there!  LOL!  There is still so much to do!  At least we have a 3 day weekend, H wants to finish the last few tiles in the bathroom and then I will either make him paint the room with me or I'll do it myself!  We also still need to fix the missing wall inside of baby's closet!

  • Not much last night. Judge away, but I'm completely guilting M into getting a new job before we have a kid. I'm not doing it for attention or whatever, but so then he knows how fucking stupid his request of redoing budget so he doesn't have to go somewhere with better pay {it's been confirmed they're not doing salary reviews for where he is}

    For our budget, when I'd go on e.i I'm basically losing what I pay to house {mortgage, property tax and condo fees} per month. Which isn't a whole lot, but I budgeted that I would be able to pay everything else. This decrease in my pay, would need M to get a job that pays minimum of 10K more than what he gets now {I did the math}
So I essentially went over what I pay with what my e.i would be, and said "It's do able if I don't give myself ANYTHING and we don't go over the grocery budget. So yeh, it's completely do able ... I'll just never do anything."
I'm not even sorry. He needs to understand the financial side of this. Tbh, I don't think it'll work anyways but it might make him think harder about it.

Anyways .... tonight is groceries and then we're going for dinner afterwards as a late valentine's day dinner. We've been planning out dinner for this weekend, because I want to try a new recipe. Salisbury steak in the crock pot, and mashed potatoes. M's gonna make roasted carrots. Since we have wine, I'm gonna pull that out. Plus I wanna try a dessert. Super easy! Pillsbury croissants, with nutella, wrapped around a banana with cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top.
I saw it on fb lol

This weekend is a long weekend, so we're likely hitting up Winterlude {hard to explain, google it :) } at some point this weekend and going to dinner at my mum's place also.
  • @6fsn, between 2nd and 6th grade, our community was redistricted 3 times, the community grew so fast.  I never had any long-term friendships because I was constantly changing schools, and I really struggled to make friends and meet new people TBW.  It was terrible.  I understand the need (to an extent), but it's so hard on the kids and I think people forget that.  Sorry you and your family have to go through this.

Seeing some family this weekend for the first time since the shitshow falling out in the fall.  I'm anxious and on edge and memories I'm trying to forget keep coming to the surface.  I want to throw things and punch walls and run away.

"And when they use our atoms to make new lives, they won’t just be able to take one, they’ll have to take two, one of you and one of me..."
    --Philip Pullman

  • @6fsn  is there an option of keeping the kids there? My boss' daughters had choices when a new school opened up near them. She talked to the other girls' parents to see what they were deciding so the kids could stay together.

@charlotte989875  yay baby shower! :) guilty of dancing along to the gif ;)

@drid  yay house hunting :) we looked long before we were going to buy and because we loved this house so much, we wanted a long closing date.

@OliveOilsMom  I would think racing heart was nerves too, especially after being so sick. Hopefully that's all it is and the appt goes well!

@sparklepants41  I was suppose to see that with my mum but we completely dropped the ball. I'm glad it lives up to the hype! :) Also yay baby stuff! Are you guys thinking gender reveal party? M and I discussed it and figured it'd be fun way to have family find out :)

@AtomicBlonde  vibes your visit goes well <3
  • Couple random points

    - toaster at my work sucks. Makes english muffin barely toasted, but bread it burns.

    - my mum might be going away for work for 3 months. She said if she goes, it's over summer and will be back by my bday {September} I'm torn on my feelings and told her that.
1 part of me wants her to go because she needs this and it'll be great for her.
Other part of me wants her to stay home for selfish reasons.

Only thing is that the part that wants her to go is stronger, so I'm listening to that. Tbh this will be longest I haven't been around her since birth. I'm an only child and had a good relationship with my parents ... this isn't weird, right? lol

@6fsn that really sucks about the redistricting. They've built a few new public schools around here in the last few years, and I remember the rezoning being really stressful for a lot of people.

@charlotte989875 I hope you have a great time in Buffalo! Sounds like it will be an awesome weekend!

    Morning all!

Girls night was fun last night. They got there right as I was walking in the door from work so I didn't have time to put a fancy dress on :( Rayna (our younger dog) was terrified of them when they came in the door. So scared that she peed on the couch. Eventually she warmed up to them and was kissing them all over the face. Thank goodness.

We ended up making a pizza, watching a movie, having a little dance party, and I painted their nails. It was a blast and kinda made me want to have kids like now. They kept telling me it was the most fun they'd ever had, lol. So sweet.

Tonight is hair night. PTL. My ends are looking really rough and I need a good color.

I think I've mentioned my close friend who is pregnant with twins on here. Well, she's having her babies tomorrow! I'm so excited for them! I'm gonna give it a few days before I go see her since she's having a C-section, but I can't wait to hold those babies!

  • @MissKittyDanger no gender reveal party here. Just a gender reveal for the two of us. Nearly four years ago my SIL (H's next oldest brother's wife) turned her older son's third birthday party into a gender reveal party for her youngest. It left a very bad taste in my mouth. Obviously they can be done tastefully and they can be super fun, but we don't want to follow in her footsteps.

We will be making an announcement on Instagram/Twitter (all of our families and close friends know), so I was going to couple that with a more low-key gender reveal of sorts...

@OliveOilsMom your nursery will come together! It's overwhelming how much is involved with preparing for a little one! I love your color scheme and the Hawaiian/tropical theme - that sounds very fun!
  • @sparklepants41  oh gosh why would your SIL steal her kid's thunder!? That's so rude! It would leave a bad taste in my mouth too :( that's awful
If we do one, people will know what it's for. Actually, if I get pregnant when we plan we're actually holding off on telling some family for a week to not steal thunder from a wedding we're going to.

I was hell on wheels to get the nursery done before we had DefConn and then he spent the first 6 months of his life sleeping in our bedroom (in his PnP).  Plus, 3 months after he was born, I had to use it as a home office since I started working from home.  ;)
  • I couldn't sleep and ended up going to bed at four last night. Now I'm exhausted. One of my good friends wants to go to lunch, but honestly I don't really want to. She always grills me on where I have applied and who I've heard back from and I just don't want to deal with that. But she's also super sensitive and she just started a really tough job, so I know I should go.

I had had a list of things to do today. None of them seem important now. Lol. I'm in a Thursday funk.

Unfortunately, this is sort of her MO in every aspect of life - but that's another very long thread for another day. To give you a glimpse of the "fun," she tried to make our dog's death and our subsequent grief all about her.

Yup. Luckily we don't see her all that often. And when we do, H and I just limit our interaction. We aren't the only ones in the family who feel this way, so bonus points for solidarity!

That is my one saving grace, knowing that the baby won't actually use the room right away!
  • @OliveOilsMom if it makes you feel better my baby is 12 weeks old and his nursery still isn't finished. I kept meaning to get some sort of name decoration for a wall once we decided on it but here I am. The only wall that is decorated is above the crib.

    I love Thursdays.

DH and I are headed to Rome for a long weekend.  We're celebrating our five year dating anniversary.  My friend is house/dog sitting for us, but she's quite allergic to our cat.  So tonight the cat is off to DH's friend, and I get to de-cat hair the house....

@MissKittyDanger love pics.  I went to Carleton for my BA, so definitely making me a bit nostalgic for those days!
You did!? Small world :) Once we go, I'll post some of this year's sculptures
  • Hello, everyone!

I'm crabby today.  This is the third time this week (which is only four days old) that I had to miss my lunch due to someone else's poor planning.  Two emergency requests right before lunch, and today was a meeting that ran way over.  I am eating yogurt at my desk with a plastic fork, and I'm not happy about it.

But it's Prudie day!  And tomorrow is Friday!  And I'm looking forward to the weekend!  So it's not all bad.

Also, my boss gave us a book to read, and it's terrible.
  • @Heffalump  that is horrible! you need lunch! *makes sandwich for you*

Jealous of the weekend trip to Rome -- sounds fabulous!

Slow day at work. I've been alternating between actual work and looking at senior apartment complexes and houses. I love our current house, but there are too many stairs for FMIL, and the dog needs a fenced yard.

We got some wet snow last night, so I skipped my art journaling group and went straight home. Can't wait for winter weather to be over (which in Ohio, could mean April or even May).

Tonight is my meditation meeting -- yay! After that, I really need to start reading my book club book.

    @MissKittyDanger, those pics are amazing!
