Wedding Woes

Monday

How was the weekend?

Ours was pretty good.  We replaced the kiddo's bed and DefConn went to town on the old mattress all day Saturday.  Yesterday, we deep cleaned the living room and it is glorious.  Other than, a lot of time to relax and that was nice.  I watched all of season 2 of Love on Netflix.  I love that show.

How was your weekend?

Re: Monday

  • Weekend was fine. Did a bunch of home projects and went to dinner. H and I had a LONG discussion about work/jobs/moving to Buffalo, and he pretty much said our moving to Ohio was a big mistake. I don't disagree and I'm glad he finally told me he felt that way (I was pretty sure he did), but it didn't really help the funk. Then we went to my friends house and drank way, way too much wine. I felt terrible all day yesterday; part of it being hungover part of it from our conversation. Not a great way to end spring break.

Back to classes today and waiting for the impending snow storm*. The dog looked super sad when we left for the office this morning. He might have liked spring break more than we did.

*Not actually a storm, only like 3-5 inches, but apparently that leads to breaking weather alerts these days.
  • Did you hear that it's going to snow in New England?   'Cause it's gonna snow here.

Weekend was quiet.   Got a haircut Saturday, and yesterday I worked in the afternoon.   Because I WFH and basically assume that the kids will have no school/daycare I had to prepare for getting nothing done.
  • It must be spring cleaning season!  We decluttered and organized, and you're right--glorious!

DS is not loving daylight savings time.  He's usually such a mama's boy, and when I went to get him up this morning, he buried his face in his pillow, with one arm flailing beside him.  I think he was yelling "Leave me alone!" but it was hard to tell, with the pillow.  I had to drop a bunch of stuff off at school, so I drove Wooz in.  When I left, the line of parents signing in tardy kids was out the office door and into the lobby. :)

We got snow!  It melted.  Wooz had a friend over.  Met the landscape architect, so we're looking forward to seeing a proposal.

LOL!  He's got a such an angel face, so the mental image of his mad face cracks me up.

DefConn was pissed about DST this morning.  I logged in for work and laid down with him for about 10 min before I had to drop the hammer.

  • It was cold all damn weekend AND i have a damn sinus cold still. Damn meds aren't working :(

Saturday was my friend's bday party {her real bday on Wednesday} Met the new guy she's seeing, and he seems pretty nice.
With the damn time change, we didn't get home until after 2am ....

Sunday was a success! I actually managed to surprise my mum at lunch because I invited her bff with us :)
After lunch, M and I basically passed out on the couch.
Only thing helping my cold right now is a warm cloth across my face.

I feel awful for people around me, I sound terrible because I can't breath so I keep sniffling. My mum picked up vitamins for me - since I ran out and clearly need the immune system boost - but I think eventually I'll go to the clinic and see why the hell I keep getting this.

I'm a terrible cat-mom, because we ran out of wet food. Instead of wet food, the cats got treats for breakfast. We're stopping by the vet tonight to pick up a case for them.
  • @Heffalump  Even at my age, DST is super hard. My mum hoped I would grow out of it, but alas I did not.

    @DrillSergeantCat  Welcome back!!

Saturday was haircuts for everyone and I finished up M2's bday presents.  We also went to Costco.  Holy shit traffic was like Christmas.  The road was backed up a solid 5 miles in one direction.

Sunday we skipped church and spent the day at the science center.  The kids had an awesome time, but we didn't see nearly everything.  I went ahead and bought a membership because it was only $30 more.

I started packing a few things for vacation last night only to realize M2 needs socks and Max needs underwear.

Good news- our neighbor that is never home and his house looks horrid is FINALLY putting it up for sale.  Our neighborhood is hot so I've been telling a few friends and one of them is sending him a letter before he even talks to the realtor.

Other good news- redistricting should be announced this week.
  • DST also got the best of me. Baby B woke up at 1030 and it took me until after midnight to finally get him settled for good so I'm tired, didn't set my alarm and woke up when I should have been feeding B (and having already showered and been ready for work). So I took him to daycare and came up and decided to work from home. Except H is also home and we got in another fight (par for the course these days) so instead of hoping to sneak in a nap I'm awake and emotionally drained and won't accomplish anything

DST related- Usually I don't let the kids bug me until 6:30.  I forgot to change the clock in my room so it was 7:30 before we all got up.
  • @charlotte989875 There was just a Winter Weather Advisory on the news - is that why there is white stuff outside of my door?!

@kvruns I'm sorry about your fight.   Hope today gets better.

  • @kimmiinthemitten we knew it was a possibility that it would happen. We've been looking for a while, but H has been working on fixing his credit that his ex destroyed.

Apparently in NW Ohio/Eastern Michigan we still need weather advisories for a few inches of snow. I understood this in North Carolina, but here it just annoys me.

The weather basically resets every time we hit 50.  So anytime it snows after that people act like it's the first snow all over again.  It'll happen at least one more time for the final snow that always happens in April.

  • I ran a half marathon yesterday, and today has been spent mostly eating and sleeping (maybe I'll send my supervisor an email I largely composed Saturday to feel a bit productive....).  Despite the run itself taking less than 2.5 hours, it really ate away at our entire day.  Tomorrow back to the regular grind.

Took the dog out for a walk and he was being a bit of an ass.  He likes to show off how fast he can go by running really tight circles around other dogs. Sometimes he'll slow down so they think they have a chance at catching him.
  • Morning all!

Like the rest of y'all, DST has me all thrown off and tired. The ONLY positive I'm finding here is that the dogs are no longer waking me up an hour before my alarm goes off every day. I had to wake them up today for a change. Hopefully that sticks.

The weekend was good. Friday night I stayed in, ate leftovers, and watched lots of TV. I did a mask and drank herbal tea and felt like major grandma. It was glorious.

Saturday I slept in and made breakfast when I got up. Then I relaxed for a bit and let that big breakfast settle before working out. I ended up going to dinner and a LulaRoe pop up with 2 of my best friends. I didn't get anything sadly, but they both got really cute stuff.

I had to be at church at 7:30 yesterday morning and I could not stop thinking "OMG this is actually 6:30 am. AM!" Alas, I lived through it though :) I took a nap yesterday afternoon and then cooked dinner. I am *thisclose* to being finished with The Following. I think I'm 4 episodes away from the end.

Tonight is Bachelor night. Nick has been the worst so I'm kinda happy his reign is coming to an end.

  • @thefanciestbeckler I hate him and truly hope he walks away with no one.

  • I'm watching some cheesy Hallmark movie about a wedding planner and they were trying to think of a cheaper catering option and mentioned having the couples' favorite food truck cater. "everyone can leave the boat, go get their food at the truck, come back on the boat and dance".  smh

Today is one of my most annoying work things- updating a request for funding website.  Sales person has a 254 line spreadsheet that she made changes too.  She highlighted about 10 rows of changes and said "Please update."  How the fuck was I supposed to know she'd actually made more changes to the spreadsheet that weren't marked?  So now I have to go line by line (254 lines) to find out what she might have changed.  And she's making me out to be the idiot.
  • My boss loves me. She had extra strength meds and gave me some - especially because she's hears my congestion and the all mighty sound of blowing my nose.

Can you do a track changes from the previous revision?

@charlotte989875 no, but that would be good.  The funding program is just a bitch.

I was watching that same movie and eye rolled so much of it! Seriously, "don't spare any expense for your dream wedding"? That is one of the problems with society's view of weddings IMHO.

  • @missJeanLouise, happy birthday!
