Happy Monday!!

Re: Happy Monday!!

  • Random fact I forgot to mention, I now know how to do the Heimlich maneuver for cats.

Angel is notoriously bad for wolfing down food {you'd think we starved him ...} and Saturday when we got back, I was about to go to bed and he started choking!!
OMG! I dropped the water bottle in my hand and tossed my phone {saved by my rug behind me} and grabbed him around his 'waist' while trying to open his mouth.
Damn hard with a cat who hates having his face touched .... he wouldn't let me so I'm gently patting the back of his head to encourage him to open his mouth.

It was fine. Just a couple kibbles that needed to come out, but I swear this cat .... so I looked up Heimlich maneuver for future reference.
  • @MissKittyDanger OMG!!! That must have been so scary! I'm impressed you kept a cool head and were able to save him.

Our puppy wolfs down food too - but then we got her one of those "obstacle bowls" to slow her down a bit - she went from eating 1 cup of food in 2 minutes to 5 minutes! I wonder if they make those for cats - it might help Angel as well!
  • @sparklepants41 He's a pig. I might have to look into that! Believe me, I was like "omg! *tosses stuff and grabs cat*"
Of course, afterwards he just looks at me like "mum, why are you being so dramatic?" I just saved your life cat, you owe me *side eye*

    How's baby sparkles doing?
  • @MissKittyDanger, I'm glad Angel was okay!  I've never thought to look that up, but it is a good idea.

My dog sometimes makes this awful sound.  It sounds like she's gasping for air and it will go on for 1-2 minutes.  We asked our vet about it, but he assured us it's nothing concerning.  I forget the exact name of what it is, but he said it is like a "dog hiccup".

Congrats, aunty @charlotte989875, isn't it awesome?

DH and i saw Beauty and the Beast this weekend, and we LOVED it (3D), regarding kids and fear: I know my 4 year old niece would be scared of the beast (and maybe wolves) but it's was REALLY well done.

I also saw my nephew for the first time this weekend.  It's a painful 5 hour drive but he was worth it.  You have a 45 second window to take your picture with him when you pick him up and when he realizes it's not mom or dad holding him.  :)  Apparently he cries when anyone tries to hold him.

And my brothers' in laws are finally having a "meet baby William party" with her side of the (big) family, so I can't wait to see how that turns out.

edit:  thanks for the scientology and Leah Remini recommendations.  Admittedly, I don't know much about Scientology  so this interests me.

  • @MissKittyDanger chewy has slow feeders for cats - one is by ethical pet & it's 10", and the other is by northmate and it's 10.5". They're both around $6-$7. The one by ethical pet is technically for dogs (not sure if Angel would take that as an insult lol)

Baby sparkles is good - she is the size of a sweet potato today! But she still weighs only about 1/4 pound. So we have been referring to her as the quarter pounder because we have problems being normal LOL.
I just can't help that I want to add the words "with cheese" to that.  I've been long brainwashed by McD's.  Sorry, Baby Sprinkles, lol.  I saw your last pic and am sure you're more a lobster roll guy/gal.

    *waving hello*

Congratulations, auntie @charlotte989875! Being an aunt rocks!

Holy crap, today was insane at work. Six emergency complaint filings! I had to ask my backup for help.

Saturday was good. Bingo was fun, then I took the mutt to the dog park and hung out at Starbucks before meeting my sponsor. Saturday night, I had the house to myself because Housemate got an extra ticket to a fundraiser. I read, screwed around on FB, and texted with FW.

Yesterday, I napped, did some housework, and took the mutt to the park again. FW was able to catch an earlier flight, so I picked her up at 10. Unfortunately, her luggage (with her work clothes, meds, and toiletries) ended up on the 12:30 flight, so she had to get it this morning. But we got in some much-needed BCBC last night, so we're both happy.

ETA: @MissKittyDanger, I'm so glad Angel is OK! Way to go, awesome kitty mama!

  • Friday night we did a whole lotta nuthin'.  And it was great.  We kind of had maybe sorta plans, but just ended up going out to a nice dinner, having some drinks, coming home and going to bed.  It was glorious, both for BCBC and sleep.

Saturday was all day driving basically, for a roller derby game.  They had their butts handed to them, 100 point spread.  Lots of injuries in this one, the other team was playing rough.  I've never seen a jammer spend so much time in the penalty box and the other team still couldn't get points.

Sunday was more glorious at home time, where laundry mountain was conquered and our apartment was slightly more put together.  I got the new laptop set up how I wanted.  I'm going grocery shopping tonight and cooking at home.  I am so tired of restaurant food.
  • This weekend was pretty fun.  Friday we had people over for St. Patty's Day, and it went pretty well.  I made Guinness Beef Stew.  Then Saturday we ended up going out to a really nice dinner with SO's sister and her bf.  They suggested the restaurant and I was surprised because it's pretty expensive.  When we got the bill you could tell they were a little taken aback at the price, but overall we had a great time and the food and service was so flipping good.  Plus we had leftovers for dinner the next day.

Last night kitten decided to run back and forth across our bed at about 4 am, and I went to bed at midnight, so I didn't get much sleep.  I drove SO to work today because he is getting a company car.  Then I went to the gym.  I had intended to be much more productive today....but...shit happens. I'm just spending the rest of the day cleaning up.  I also have been putting off trying to save a bunch of laundry I accidentally washed with a pack of gum.  So I should do that too.

  • Our  trip to Chicago was really quick. We weren't even there for 24 hours. Had a great dinner before the play. The play was ok but I can see how it would have a big following. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but it was nothing like I thought (it was Hedwig and the Angry Inch). Our last play of the season is Aladdin next month.  Today I ordered tickets for The King and I. I'm such a sucker for old fashioned musicals. We got home yesterday and had laundry and house stuff to do.

Today I picked up the pups from boarding. I had a fascial stretch therapy session this afternoon. It was amazing. I felt so relaxed afterwards. I have some really tight muscles so it was great having someone stretch me past where I can go alone. Ran to Penzy Spice and Costco getting home just before the hail storm hit. Welcome to spring in Indiana!

This is good to know. My Oliver tends to eat fast and is starting to have trouble swallowing occasionally. I'll look it up too!

You are an awesome cat mom!

LOL - so did I!  Did you get the presale for King and I? I also got a presale for "Rent" in May.  Basically, all my money goes to theater and travel.  Hedwig was just "OK" for me too.  I'm glad I went though, and I loved the music.

  • @CharmedPam, yes I got the presale for King and I . We are actually doing a matinee so H wants to try and do another show that evening. What websites should I look at for other shows that are playing but not in the Broadway series? DD and SIL aren't going with us - don't know why because I think DD would like it. We will probably get a hotel downtown so we can walk everywhere. Yeah, lately all our money goes to theater and travel too. We subscribe to our repertory theater here in Indy too.
  • I usually book through ticketmaster, but that's mostly because i take advantage of the presale codes.  I think http://www.broadwayinchicago.com/ will have the best list of what's coming up.  An American in Paris is tempting me too.

  • I looked through their list but there isn't anything playing on the same day (except Hamilton of course). H wants to go to a show that evening after we see The King and I in the afternoon. I want to see an American in Paris too!
