Wedding Woes

Too-Too-Tuesday

And it feels like it.  I volunteered for nights yesterday.  It's only for the week, and I thought the enthusiasm and motivation would reflect well in my upcoming performance review, but I knew the moment I volunteered, my boss would look for any reason to make it impossible for me to take nights so he'd have to do it.  I am 99% sure he has no idea he's playing mind games with me.  Does he actually want me to take charge and incentive, or does he just like to say "We need to do this," but really mean, "This is what I am going to do"?  It's like he knows he's SUPPOSED to give me certain opportunities but is unable to actually let me have them because of how Type A he is.

Anyway, he found the reason yesterday afternoon, so I said, "Look, Jim, if you want to work nights, work nights.  I am able to handle either shift."  And he said, "Great, awesome, I'll take nights, and you cover days."  Well, this morning, he comes in and says, "Do you want to come in for night shift tonight?"

Face.  Palm.

The answer is, "Yes, I do," but at this point, I'm looking at 24+ hours with no sleep because I didn't make the schedule shifts I needed to in order to accommodate nights.  Since, you know, I'm still on days.  I could do it, but at this point, I'm just like, "....I'll stick with days, thanks."

If I learn nothing else from him, I am mastering a lesson in patience I thought I would never learn.

In other news, the well is fixed, honeyfunds are still rude, and my dad has set a retirement date.  And, will wonders never cease, even my brother is planning to attend his retirement party.

    Good morning.

My kids were freaking ridic last night.  The first day back to school did a number on them.

My dryer is getting fixed today.  Woo!!  I have a mountain of laundry to catch up on once it's fixed.  It's been a long 6 days waiting for it to be repaired.  At least it broke once I had done 90% of our laundry, so we haven't been lacking in clothes.

I have an extra VIP ticket to see my fave podcast on Thursday.  I was supposed to go with my friend (who's also a fan) and she took her first family vacation with her kids, husband, and stepkids (just the 7 of them) since they got married a year and a half ago.  I guess it's an OK excuse... ;)  But any way, I am trying to find someone else to go with and it's freaking *hard*.  My friend that was my back-up is going thru major divorce drama, so she's unreliable since her STBEx-H is a giant douchecanoe.  *sigh*  Why can no one play on a weeknight? ::strop::

And there's a chance of snow in the forecast for Thursday.  What the freaking what?

Here's my day- take this list of 241 companies and find a couple of contacts (c-level or above in IT).

It's rainy.  I've got Bible study Thursday morning.  I haven't read and my house is still in shambles from the party.
  • @mrsconn23 is it the MFM podcast? If so, I am so freaking stoked for you!

yesterday, friend and I went to an outlet mall outside of Dubai. I desperately need some new clothes because, surprise!, it is freaking hot in the desert! I found a couple things but our trip was cut short because there was a thing with the car she didn't know about. I was annoyed with DH just in general and we got in a fight on the way home from dinner but talked through it by the time we got home. Then we took the dog to the beach (he technically not allowed, I think) and he had a blast.
    crawled into bed around 3:30.

i skipped coffee today because I am a homebody at heart and just wanted some alone time. Tonight I am making fried chicken (for the first time), coleslaw, and mac & cheese because DH is needing some comfort food. Tomorrow I ride and then another coffee date with friend and some other lady she knows.
  • It's raining cats and dogs today which meant my morning 15-mile commute took almost 90 minutes. And of course, today is also the day FedEx is delivering the crib mattress. I am hoping that the FedEx driver is kind enough to put the mattress box as far out of the rain on our covered front entrance as possible.

I have a bunch of meetings today and no one has responded to any of my requests for information in advance of these meetings.

I finally started watching Big Little Lies last night and remembered that I had read the book a few years ago. But it was just long enough ago that I cannot exactly remember what happened so I am really enjoying the miniseries!
  • @mrsconn23 is it the MFM podcast? If so, I am so freaking stoked for you!

    YES!!  :D
  • I started my period Sunday. To most women, that's NBD, but it's the first one I've had since May 2015. It's got me all up in my feelings and I'm soooo thirsty.

I had blood drawn yesterday because I like to have my A1C and thyroid levels checked every year since my bio dad died from complications of diabetes at a young age and both my mom and grandmother had thyroid disease. I'm anxious to get those results back.

Both Norah and Mouse are sleeping better the last few days. I can handle only getting up once or twice so I hope they keep this up.
  • I got my hopes up on buying some super cute baby jeans with suspenders from a facebook group only to find out she posted them in other places so I wasn't actually first. Things like that annoy me, it is fine to post other places, just put that in your post so I don't think I'm definitely first!

Craving junk food, and for some reason really wanting taco bell. wtf? and also wanting to go blow money at Target for no reason.
  • @sparklepants41 it'll probably be wrapped in plastic so it won't (shouldn't) get wet.

@kvruns Target is the devil! I went in Saturday for diapers and came out with two new outfits for Norah, one for Mouse, Easter egg hunt stuff for Mouse, and no diapers. It was a decision on the diapers, though, we've been using a different brand at night for Mouse, but since he's sleeping better he's not having as much liquid overnight and not peeing as much.
  • Work, work, more work. Conference prep and packing. Had a meeting about my performance eval, and I feel slightly better. Overall, it was positive, but there are things I need to work on. I know that, but hearing it in the end of what has been an insanely busy/stressful semester didn't help.

@atomicblonde your boss sounds exhausting. Good for the lesson in patience, terrible (I assume) for your stress levels.
  • @DrillSergeantCat not sure what brand you buy for Norah but Target has a really good deal on Pampers Swaddlers size 1 - 216 pack for $25.99.

Walmart also has good deals on the super gigantic packs too in larger sizes - you have to ship to store but they had Size 3 – 162 for $26.47 and Size 4 – 144 for $26.47 this weekend online. Not sure if they also had deals for 5s or 6s
  • @kvruns MIL bought 2 economy size boxes of size 1 Pampers when Norah was born. She was in NB until 2 weeks ago so we still have 1&1/4 boxes. I won't have to buy her diapers for a month I think. After those run out, I use Up & Up. I did a cost analysis on them vs Pampers vs Luvs vs Huggies and then looked at reviews and decided at .09 per diaper, Up & Up was the way to go.
  • $125 later, two broken pencils and drill bit were fished out of the dryer.  *smh*

Also, I spent over a half hour searching high and low for DefConn's library book this morning.  It was under an end table and I remembered seeing it while working out at the last second before we walked out the door for the bus.  Yay for yoga, I guess.  ;) Of course, he was completely UN-helpful and making up all sorts of stories about where it could be.

Oh and there are two remotes missing in my house.  I have spent so much time on my hands and knees looking for shit in the last couple weeks.  At least it's a work out?
  • We just moved into 2s (because I was out of 1s) and are using Up&Up, Honest Co, Seventh Generation, and Pampers - we have quite the assortment from super good deals I found and also gifts. I like the feel of the Up&Up so far so that might end up being a winner once I need some for him, which won't be for a long time because once he is in 3s I have 11 small packs + the economy pack I just bought at Walmart. Maybe when he's 1 haha.

I feel your pain - I am also our Designated Household Finder of Things. In my years of living with H I have YET to go 24 hours without hearing some variation of "Do you know where my/the [NOUN] is?"

Ha.  Yeah.  That's my life too.

I have started responding with, "Why would you think I know where (thing) is when it's not mine?"  DH always gives me some lame trailing off response of, "Well I just thought that maybe you saw it..." Yeah, no dude.
  • i spent yesterday morning in the ER because i've had a few fainting spells in the last week and wanted to get checked out. (i went to urgent care last week, but after i collapsed yesterday morning, DK took me to the ER.)

on the plus side, all scans and tests came back clear, on the minus side, i still don't know what's triggering this. other minus is that i'm full of holes and bruises because ER nurses (i'm generalizing here - but i've had a bad record, especially at this hospital) suck at running an IV.
  • Oh no Barbie!!  I hope you get some answers soon.

Darn Barbie.  I hope they find something.  How scary!
  • They really do suck at running IVs. I hope they figure out what's going on and it's something minor like anemia.
  • @*Barbie*, geez!  I hope they get it figured out and it's something minor.  It's worse to not know.  A few years ago, I was having dizzy spells.  The worst lasted a few minutes and I immediately went to an aftercare place after that one.  They couldn't find anything.  Then the dizzy spells disappeared after a few months as suddenly as they had come on.  Who knows.

I've been busier at work yesterday, today, and possibly tomorrow.  Woo hoo!  I know that's an odd thing to be excited about, especially for some of you who are so overworked, but I feel bad when I'm paid to be here.  But play on TK and do other random stuff most of the day, because I don't have anything else to do.  I've even offered to go p/t until things pick up.  The big boss said he'd think about that for the future, but it isn't necessary at this time.

In the meantime, I have gobs of vacation I'm going to start dipping into more often.  Just trying to lay low, keep my head down, and be as cheap as possible (hence vacation time) for the client, lol.

  • I have a bunch of errands and homework to do today. I'm meeting a friend tonight so we can work on a project together. Wine and pizza will help us get through. Ha.

Yesterday I went to Pasadena with my mom. Ugh, I love it so much. I hate where I live now. Pasadena is my vibe. We were going to visit my grandma too, but we wanted to beat traffic back. And then we found out that my cousin was there visiting for her spring break, so now I'm bummed we didn't just suck it up and go.

Have you ever tried the Tile App? You get little tiles you put in your wallet/keys/whatever and then they chirp when you use the app to locate them. There's also a gps locator so you can see if they're somewhere else. I used the app to find bff's wallet in my car the other day. She only knew I had it (I live 20 miles away) because of the app. And then the chirping was the only way I ever would have found it. It was wedged in the most impossible space in my car.

  • So I was totally MIA from everything yesterday.

Sunday was good until the night.
My friend came over, and it was so nice out so we went for a walk. I was in line for my coffee, and could feel sweat dripping down my back. EW! Too cool for just a sweater but apparently too warm for jacket and sweater lol

Anyways, she stayed for awhile. Another friend stopped by so I could do her makeup for the Juno's {Canadian Music Awards} and since they were in our city - not far from my place actually - she bought tix for her boyfriend and her for his bday.

Drove my friend home, and we picked up Wendy's.
About 8ish I started feeling sick. Decided to crash early. M got sick from the fast food and figured "Oh, maybe it's just that."

    Yehhhh ... nope!

Didn't stop getting sick until 3am. M debated on taking me to the hospital because I couldn't even keep down water.

I ended up calling in sick, and you couldn't have paid me to stay awake yesterday. Sore and tired.
M ended up bringing me up to bed about 8:30pm last night because I'd been lying on the couch for an hour and half already.

Side note: is anyone watching "13 Reasons Why" on Netflix? I'm up to ep/tape 10. I already know the premise because I read the book, but this is far more detailed.
I read an interview with the author about that, and he likes it's more detailed so you really see the on-going repercussions of what happened.

I have! It would be so useful if in our house it was things that got lost were things like that. Usually it's "where did you put extra ketchup?" "What happened to all the pens?" etc lol

Lol. I hear you. To be fair I did that to myself the other day with my only hat...a hat that I personally put away. Smh.

And feel better soon! That happened to SO's sister a few years ago. We thought it was just a drunken night and then nope. We called it the plague. It hit every single person in the house except for me. It was so bad (and slightly comical at that point) that we started taking bets as to who would succumb next.

  • @MissKittyDanger hope you are feeling better. My H had the same thing last night - at first we thought it was because he stupidly got White Castle for lunch when he knows it messes up his stomach. But then he was also puking so not sure if it was food poisoning or something else.
  • @*Barbie* that sounds super scary! Glad you're getting it checked out! I hope they get to the bottom of it and that it's something easily fixed.

At least you know the default location ;) if it's something small in our house {like a lighter..} it's usually in the couch cushions lol
