  I'm assuming you're looking for secular readings? I still think one of the best modern readings for a wedding comes from Justice Kennedy...

  I am surprised at the idea that an interracial marriage should be any different from any other marriage.  My daughter married a man from another race, and nobody (except Grandma, who didn't attend!)  thought anything odd about it.  My grandchildren are beautiful!

  My parents are very old-school, which I guess is their excuse to be ignorant? Your daughter is lucky to have such an open-minded mother!  I don't want to bring any negativity to the day but I do want to acknowledge that we've already come so far just to get to this point.

  Ok, so I was looking for readings for you and thinking about why this post rubs me the wrong way a little bit. I think I finally put my finger on it...
  
  A reading at a wedding is not going to change anyone's mind. It's not going to make anyone more accepting. It's not going to create any eureka moments. It's not going to cure their racism. It's not going to fix anything. 
  
  So I don't think you should choose a reading that's meant to speak to the racists in your crowd. Your readings should be for you and your partner. About YOUR love. 
  
  I would let this be a new beginning where your focus isn't on appealing to/changing your folks, but on focusing on your new family.

  Absolutely gorgeous poem that I think would be great for any wedding. 
  
  Anyway, I have to agree with @southernbelle0915. Your readings are not going to change anyone's mind about anything...in fact, while it's not what any couple wants to hear, the reality is that most guests will either not pay full attention to the readings or not remember them later on. So just choose something that celebrates your love and means something to you. Don't make it about other people.

  Secular means not religious.  So nonsecular would be religious?

  That is really beautiful. Hopefully you have someone who can really do it justice. I had the privilege of hearing Maya read some of her own works at my college a few years before she passed and they need to be read well for full impact. Her performance was just breathtaking.
