Tuesday!

Re: Tuesday!

  • @NiceKindaSpice; no, we're not working with an accountant.  I suggested that we do, but DH didn't think we would need to.  We'll see.  We're still waiting on some of our relocation forms/docs to be issued, and I've been told that's a 2-year process, so next tax-season should be super fun!

Also, I'm sorry for your losses.

@charlotte989875, I am also considering Rent the Runway for a "black tie optional" (DAFUQ?) wedding later this summer.  I'll be curious to hear your thoughts if you use it.
I bet you were planning on wearing your nice jeans or your favorite flannel until you saw that on the invite weren't you?
I totally was and the line on the invite convinced me to change my mind.

So glad you like it @CharmedPam. Our dog is terrified of it, but the cat just looks annoyed.

Has as anyone here done rent the runway? How far in advance do you order? I've got a May wedding I want to rent for (formal attire listed on the invite), but haven't used it yet. Any thoughts?
I love Rent the Runway.  I can probably send you a referral code.  I love it so much I pay for the yearly membership b/c what it saves me in insurance/S&H/free birthday dress, pays for itself.  For a May wedding, I'd probably get something reserved now.  You'll just find your selection will get more limited the closer you get to the date you want to rent it.  They  have plenty to choose from, but there's something super disappointing about seeing a great dress, liking it, and then not being able to get it.

You choose if you want a 4 day or 7 day rental and what day you want to receive it.  I usually get the 4 days and have it delivered Thursday for a Saturday event.  That way if it doesn't fit or is otherwise not satisfactory, they have time to overnight me something new.  I've had to do that 2x, no complaints at all with the service of doing that.

I had my meeting about my bully last night.  It went well; we have a management plan, which is good and cooler heads/minds prevailed.  I keep musing why I seem to have an "I Hate Varuna" club.  I also tend to think that I put myself out there as a leader and I'm fairly successful at it, so haters gonna hate, I guess.

    I'm ready for the weekend.
Thanks! Do you do a back up size? There's some super cute ones I'm looking at, so I should probably order something soon.
  • Happy Birthday @ILoveBeachMusic
@atomicblonde Best of luck, haha. I know some of those forms are a real pain, props to you guys for being so organized to handle all of that.

    @short+sassy @kimmiinthemitten @DrillSergeantCat @atomicblonde
Thanks for all the condolences, guys.
  • @CharmedPam, which roomba did you end up getting?

  • Anyone want to help me pick a dress? Mid-May formal wedding in Pittsburgh.  I don't love my midsection and I'd like to wear a bra of some sort. Thoughts on any of these?

  • Based on your coloring, I'm voting 2,5,1,6.

  • 2 is my favorite

  • I like 1 the best, then 2.  But I personally don't usually wear patterned dresses, so that bias is playing into it.  With that said, I LOVE the color on the Blue Simonetta.  Then the Cindy Cascade.  I don't care for the Petal Pusher or Woodland

Fun fact:  My grandparents live in the same neighborhood as Heloise.  ;)

Their house is also close to Tommy Lee Jones' Texas house/ranch/compound.
Conway Twitty used to have a house near me. Not near as cool as Tommy Lee Jones.
    STUCK

Hey now, Conway Twitty had some good stuff
  • @charlotte989875 2 is my first choice, and 6 is my second (6 would give you an excuse to wear some sassy shoes :) )
  • @charlotte989875  one shoulder, floral. I believe 3rd
  • 2!  So pretty!
  • Looks like 2 is the favorite. I was between that one and 4 (Cascade), but the reviews for 2 are better.

What's up?! That was a long-ass road trip for you.

I just booked tickets to TX for DefConn and me to visit my grandparents.  He's going to be so excited.  I think he needs a real cowboy hat.

My friend is listening to S-Town finally and her reactions via text are cracking me up.

DH gets Thursday night off for Good Friday, but I get bupkis.    We do close Easter Sunday for 'maintenance', but anyone who is normally works is scheduled into their day off.    But that means DH is going to be cleaning his little hiney off to get ready for DefConn's rescheduled party.
@mrsconn23 you know Houston is just a short 3 hour drive away, and we're lots of fun.
  • i'm playing catch up on posts.
still have been under the weather, but no actual fainting since last week, so yay?
work has been crazy busy but bosses have been understanding with working from home a lot, so that's nice. i've been meeting all targets and deadlines despite the health issues, so nothing they can complain about.
(this sucks all the more because i got called for jury duty on the 17th and don't know if i'll be assigned or the impact on work. one of my coworkers ended up on a case for a month a couple of years ago.)

we were trying to figure out some sort of vacation for June since my wanderlust is flaring up, and we wanted to do a few family trips this year since DK and i plan to do a (just us) trip to Australia in October. I was throwing around all kinds of ideas that would get us out of the TX heat for a few days - but ended up booking a 4 night cruise with a stop in Cuba (Tampa -> Key West -> Havana -> Tampa). So yay for 67 days to cruise!

@charlotte989875 I like the 2nd red dress. Also, woman, charge your phone. That 20% with Bluetooth on is giving me anxiety for you. Lol.

Oh, and I can't remember who brought up the cleaning thing, but a few weeks ago I accidentally washed a pack of gum (and like 65 napkins because SO is a hoarder who shoves things in his pockets) with our laundry. Google said to use warmed up white vinegar and a toothbrush to get the gum out. It turns out that actually works for the most part. It didn't come out of one workout shirt, but that was it.

SSDD for me. My biggest struggle today is deciding if I want to make enchiladas for dinner or not.
    Same.
  • My desk is slowly getting cleaned.

Can someone come do filing for me? I have a huge pile beside my normal filing docs and don't wanna do it ....

Sorry @MissKittyDanger, just my normal filing has gone way past "procrastinating...just for a few days months."

That is interesting.  Apparently for crayon, you also add vinegar (1/2 c) and 1/4 cup Dawn detergent.  I have no idea why Dawn, specifically, but we had some, so I did it.  And I threw in a scoop of Oxy Clean, because why not?  Then you run the presoak cycle and wash it on your hottest setting (sanitary, in my case).  It left a couple of small, faint yellow spots behind on a few items, where the red crayon had been.  But on everything else, the crayon completely vanished.

Who knew vinegar was so magical?

    I wish!!

We're transferring in Houston on the way down, but we have about an hour window.  On the way back, we touch down in Houston, but don't have to get off the plane.  ;)  And we're only going to be there 4 days.

This will be the first plane ride DefConn remembers.  The last time we flew with him, he was almost 18 months old.  And I flew with him to TX when he was almost 4 mos old.  He's going to LOVE Texas.
  • @charlotte989875, all of those are pretty! I love #1 and #4.

    Happy Birthday @ilovebeachmusic!

@atomicblonde, I got the  ILIFE V3s Robotic Vacuum Cleaner.  It's called the beetle, and it looks like one!  My dog likes to sit on the area rug and his hair piles up - this thing does a GOOD job of cleaning it.  The hardwood floors in my house were never that bad, but at least I can run this daily and not have to clean manually as much.

  • @*barbie* I'm jealous, I'd really like to see Cuba soon but I don't see it happening

Vinegar is the jack of all trades for cleaning stuff
  • Thanks for the birthday wishes all! I just got my free cupcake from Gigi's because you have to have cake on your birthday, right?!
HBD! Hope the cupcake is delish ;)
  • @charlotte989875 - where's the wedding in Pittsburgh?

next time - longer layover.   ;) With typical traffic I live about 30-40 minutes from Bush and an hour-ish from Hobby, and would be happy to meet up for lunch.
