I have a friend with a cut like that @6fsn I like it
  • @6fsn I love her!  Her hair is super cute. I didnt want to love the show as much as I do since there's so many husband/wife flipper shows but it's a good show! They have talent. And I can't get enough of home reno shows anyway.

  • So it looks like we're going to lose the house we're trying to buy. The buyer of H's house backed out this morning because of the crazy bitches next door and across the street. Apparently, the drunk across the street came over 3 times while the inspection was being done yesterday and scared her. Then, the next door neighbor came over and started screaming at the buyer telling her that she was going to file a lien because we took down her fence. IDK what she's talking about because her fence is still standing. Since it's a timid single lady who was buying the house, she's decided to back out. We have to have that house sold for the down payment on the new house.

Also, apparently H's house needs a new roof along with a slew of other things.

  • @missJeanLouise, The Light Between Oceans.  I could beat this book to death.

That book was the suck.  I kept reading and waiting for it to get better, but it never did.  S/O books, I am either starting The Handmaid's Tale or Anything Is Possible by Elizabeth Strout this weekend.  Any votes, anyone?

Just finished our Cinco de Mayo potluck here.  Someone in purchasing made the most amazing churro cupcakes.

Also, my boss was fired this morning.  [shrug]

The Handmaids Tale is great, and a quick read. Definitely prepare yourself to feel like Gilead is a possibility.

Any word on why he/she was fired?
  • oh no @drillsergeantcat, that does suck. Sorry that had to happen. ;(

Not officially.  But he had been here almost a year and somehow didn't know anything, and he was way behind in getting work done on his end so sales could get their commission checks.  There may have been other stuff, but if not, that was probably enough.

Right? We knew that the next door neighbor was claiming the tenants dogs destroyed her fence, but when we looked it was water damage that the dogs possibly made worse. But to say we took her fence down is ludicrous! The lady across the street is a drunk. She's now accosted 3 different people over there. Once, was me to tell me that she wanted the shed in the backyard and explain all the differences between H's house and hers. Another, was to tell the handyman's girlfriend how the former tenant was cheating on his wife and showed pictures. Now, three times yesterday to tell her that she wanted the lawn mower in the shed, how the kitchen looked better, and how we'd taken the beer bottles down.
  • It's my working Friday, and I just had a massive win on a project that I've been co-leading. (Co-leader is sweet and is giving me most of the credit, which is awesome. He's the overall "lead" for this effort, but my part is huge and I've been engaged with it longer, so it's probably been 70 me/30 him.)

The people we have been trying to influence actually went beyond what we were planning to push for (they did a complete 180 and are executing changes effective Monday) so we were super excited that we didn't have to fight about it.

I might just leave at lunchtime and celebrate. (This should reduce my stress and workload by quite a bit - I've had to micromanage stuff that I wouldn't normally touch with a 10ft pole.)

... and before i hit reply - 2 other issues blew up. one i am handing off and the other is causing headaches for months.

  • I see a swath of blue sky, finally.  Yesterday through this morning was just the worst because it felt like it was going to rain for-ev-er.  It's still cold AF though. We're not slated to see the 70's for about 10 more days.

Also, my workout kicked my ass this afternoon.  My heart is still pumping over an hour later.
  • 43 days left until this damn festival.  I actually got thrown into a panic attack today and that has been a long while since that happened.  I've got too much time and not enough time to think of all the things that can go wrong.  And there's already been 2 small mini crises today.  I have got to find more and better people to delegate to next year.

This weekend is flyer event for Pride, volunteer event tomorrow with a meeting to find out how to set up a text messaging system for counting and survey purposes (which is cool AF to be honest, but still more work).  I think I might actually have some time on Sunday to human.

I was done with the book the moment Tom met Isabel.  That dialogue exchange made me want to gouge my eyes out.

The Handmaid's Tale gets my vote.

Be prepared to have to put The Handmaid's Tale down at times because it's chilling and you need a moment.

Send some of that blue sky to the NE side. We are still cloudy and very windy. I'm over it!

It's STILL raining here too.  I had to turn the furnace on because the house was down to 63.  All of the opening day baseball stuff is pushed to Sunday.  I'm waiting to see if soccer is cancelled tomorrow.  I don't think I've ever seen the river so high.  I can't imagine the fields are going to be any good.

I'm getting my haircut tomorrow.  I'm thinking somewhat like this or however my hairdresser thinks my hair will respond.  I hope she's got her broom ready!

DH leaves after that and is OOT until Wednesday.

Oh and I'm officially VP of the PTO for the 2017/2018 school year.

    Very cute hairstyles!
  • Cold and rainy here too. Supposed to stay that way all weekend.

Today is the anniversary of the day FW and I met (3 years)! Also my 4-year sobriety anniversary! We went to Starbucks first because our first date was there and ordered the same drinks we ordered then. Then we went to dinner and to Barnes and Noble, where I spent way too much. Right now we're just chilling till Housemate gets home, then we'll head to our room for either "Doctor Who" or BCBC.

Tomorrow, we're giving the house a good deep cleaning. Late afternoon, I meet with my sponsor, then I'm meeting a potential sponsee.

Sunday I have errands to run, then we're going to see "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" for a friend's birthday.

Oh, I bought a fidget cube, but I can't decide whether to send it to FSD or keep it for myself.

  • Happy anniversaries @OurWildKingdom!
