Wedding Woes

Finally Friday!!

I'm in the Detroit airport waiting to head to NY! The weather is beautiful, security was a breeze, and I have seat 1A. Things are good! What's on tap for everyone's weekend?

Re: Finally Friday!!

  • ...and they just announced maintenance is needed to come look at a minor issue with the plane.
  • Boo @charlotte989875. Hope your plane gets off the ground soon.

No big plans for us. A little gardening, a few more stupid little projects, cleaning, blah blah blah I don't even care.  The blahs are back.

  • Garth tickets go on sale in 1 hour, 48 minutes. But I'm not counting down or anything. Half day today to go close on H's house. Afterwards, we're going to go celebrate.

Tomorrow, we're going to go see Wonder Woman. I loved that show growing up and I'm super excited that there's another strong, female role model. I realized while watching Harry Potter (again) the other day that had it not been for Luna, Harry never would have found the lost diadem of Rowena Ravenclaw. I love that even though Harry is the "chosen one", he wouldn't have done shit without the females around him.

Camps and pool day today and last day of soccer tryouts.  Saturday Max has tball and MIL is taking us to lunch. Sunday church then waiting to see if 6let gets an offer for a team.
  • Have to add there's a knottie#'s that's been making me repeatedly
  • Are you flying Southwest @charlotte989875?  I swear they need maintenance every time I fly them!

Congrast on the closing @DrillSergeantCat.  Also, we saw Garth two years ago, it was amazing!

I'm WFH today partially to play catch up (story of my life) and partially because Truman bullied the puppy so bad I feel bad leaving her alone with him, even with a baby gate divider.  I got my hand slapped yesterday for not seeming into it (which I haven't) so I'm determined to stay on task today.

What's making it so hard this week is that I am just exhausted!  I'm not sure what my problem is but I have been sleeping 10+ hours every night and still want to sleep more!

Sunday we're hosting a retirement dinner for MIL (which is a post in and of itself since she's trying to insist on bringing something so us kids don't have too much trouble after a long conversation about how help means only doing what we ask, nothing more), so Saturday we have to clean and garden like a boss.  I do have someone coming to do a deep cleaning so we just need to declutter the areas we need her to clean before then.  I had hoped our front landscaping would be done by now, but I can't get the salesperson on the phone to schedule our quote review let alone the installation.

  • @charlotte989875 Have fun in NY!
@DrillSergeantCat Good luck on the closing!

Not much going on this weekend. Tomorrow morning H and I are running a 5k that benefits a large animal shelter in our area. After that it's yard work and cleaning the house. Sunday will probably be a lazy day around the house since it's supposed to rain all day.
  • It's FRIDAY!!!!

Debating whether to hit the you-pick strawberry farm with the kids after school.  Their season is winding down, and I'm afraid we'll miss it altogether.  DH wouldn't be able to make it, but TBH, I don't know that he'll mind.  He goes because we do, not because he's dyyyyying to pick fruit.

Tomorrow is meet #2 of the season.  It's at our home Y, which is awesome: we can drop DS at their drop-in childcare, and when the meet is over, we can stay and swim awhile.  Plus last week, the meet ended just before the zero entry pool opened, so we were able to snag primo chairs in the shade.  Wooz has a playdate in the afternoon, and her friend also wants to swim in their neighborhood pool.  My girl is going to grow fins pretty soon.  Their neighborhood connects to ours, and I'm debating walking there and back with DS on his bike or the wagon.

No idea what we're doing Sunday, other than DS's swim.  Torn between planning an outing or hanging out at home/the pool.

DH's family is having a reunion of sorts the weekend before July 4, and DH is hemming and hawing about going.  I'm staying out of it, because I'm fine either way.

    @charlotte989875  safe and speedy travels!

@DrillSergeantCat  omg ... I know what you mean *sigh*

So I ordered some tops about a month ago from Dresslily. Shipping time could be better - I've only gotten 2/4 tops so far - but so far sizing and their customer service is really good.
Since I only got two, I emailed them to see if they have a status on the other two. Less than 24hrs later I got an email saying I should receive a shipping notification on the 5th :) Took 2 weeks to actually get them, but still.

    Tops I have now:

  • @kimmiinthemitten  bad Truman!! This is not your show! *giggle*
  • Friday! Woohoo!

@kimmiinthemitten I have had that same exact experience every time I have flown Southwest. It's my least favorite airline for that reason.

It's sunny out and my boss is off today so my team is going to take advantage and go out for a team lunch. H is volunteering for the Special Olympics today, and I am so glad the weather is cooperating for the event!!

Tomorrow I have a hair appointment and then we have a birthday celebration for my dad, whose birthday is on Monday.
  • We made it out to the runway just to turn around and head back to the gate. I guess better to be safe than sorry? I'm on American, not Southwest, but I have to say the crew has been great.
  • @charlotte989875 arrghh! That's frustrating! I think you should order a mimosa ;)
  • @DrillSergeantCat, yay house closing!

@charlotte989875, flying, ugh.  Hopefully you all will be up in the air soon.

Nothing major going on for the weekend.  There is a Rubber Duck Race going on in one of the lakes in our City Park on Sat.  I'm thinking about checking that out.  I love rubber ducks and I'm sure it would be fun to see thousands of them set loose.

  • @kimmiinthemitten  bad Truman!! This is not your show! *giggle*

Oh but it is!  The pup was sitting on the floor near me and he slowly growled while crawling across the sofa until she went back into the kitchen.  Poor girl.  This is why we always tell him he is not a nice person.

@charlotte989875 Good luck!  Hopefully you're back out soon.

Does Truman listen when you say he's not nice? Because if so, I need to know your secrets. Penny yells at the birds in the yard ....

  • I firmly believe in being polite to people, in general but also in frustrating times. We had to deplane with no estimated new departure time. People were super rude to the gate attendants. I was not. I got on the 11:10am flight. They are on the 2:30pm flight.

It's totally their fault you (general you) had to deplane, right? I do not understand people! Those gate attendants are probably just as frustrated at the situation. I always try to be extra nice to fast food people just because I know so many others treat them like garbage. There's two in particular (I eat way too much fast food) that always get the biggest smile when they see me. It makes me happy that I can be a bright spot in their day.

Yup. It was totally the gate attendants fault the plane needed maintenance twice and instead of us flying on a broken plane they decided to fix it. What assholes.
  • @DrillSergeantCat I always make eye contact and smile in the drive thru.  The worst part of fast food for me was the lack of eye contact, as though my McDonalds uniform made me sub human.

@MissKittyDanger no, he just continues on his merry asshole way.

OMG, I encountered a real dickhead traveling last weekend.  We landed late in Houston and then had to wait on the runway in a parking area before we could get to our gate since it was occupied.  When we deplaned, I had less than 15 min to catch my next flight.  We then were caught in the jetway because there was an issue with a person in a wheelchair.  The guy in front of me was super pissed and yelled, "PEOPLE HAVE FLIGHTS TO CATCH!"   A pilot was right next to me and said, "There's a person in a wheelchair.  Be patient." And then he said, "Jackass" under his breath.  I just shook my head.  I mean, I was concerned...but if I didn't make it, then that is the airline's problem.

Anyhoo, tonight I'm going to a concert with a friend and it's much needed.  She and I are about done with respective life things and need a good in person vent session.

Tomorrow and Sunday is going to be shopping and cleaning house.  Back to work Monday.
  • Way to go @charlotte989875
@Heffalump your kids are so busy it wares me out.

I am so bummed. I was repotting my bougainvillea and snapped all of its little roots off. I potted it anyway and tomorrow I will trim back all the branches to encourage growth through the roots. I am too sad to do it tonight.
  • @Heffalump  how do you keep up with your schedule!? Between you and @6fsn
idk how you ladies do it lol
  • @mrsconn23 have you listened to the Up & Vanished podcast?
  • And I have no bags. Somehow they went to Chicago, which is not in between Detroit and New York. Time for a drink.

Have a good trip! I wish I was going there too (I miss it bad.)

This weekend I have house cleaning, job hunting and creative writing on tap along with getting together with friends.

Are you and your sister the same size?

Sadly not in Buffalo but NYC this weekend. At least my hotel upgraded my room because they felt bad for me.
