Wedding Woes

Wah Wah Wah Wednesday

I feel hungover and I only had one glass of wine.  My body makes no sense to me.  I'm blaming the nose crack (Afrin).  I also feel dehydrated, but my bathroom trips are telling me otherwise.

Tonight I'm going to the Tigers game with my boo.  He's in school until next week and has union business all week, and I'm in my busy season at the catering gig so tonight is our night to see each other.

Has anyone used the Honey browser extension that is supposed to automatically add coupons? My uncle is asking me about it and I hadn't heard of it. He's interested in its compatibility with Amazon as it has a way to show you cheaper options before you buy. Sounds almost too good to be true. Anyone familiar?
  • I am getting things ready to have a yard sale. This arthritis is killing me, I don't like not being able to do whatever I want. Powering through has just about stopped working for me.

VBS tonight, our church does it different - 5 weeks in a row, every wed. I like the principle of why we do it, but its a lot of work to get all the stuff together that many times.

@kimmiinthemitten  fun fact, you can be dehydrated and still visit the bathroom enough. I learned that at a hospital when I was sick and dehydrated but still had to pee lol

@kvruns  I've heard about it. Apparently it's good.

So we were suppose to look at refinancing our vehicle, but apparently the guy who called us was incorrect. Oh well ...
This entire week is busy though, so I was glad to have one more thing we didn't have to actually do.

Tonight we're stopping by M's buddy's place. M wants to get something, so we're gonna see their new place also.

Tomorrow we're going to a charity comedy show.

Friday we're cleaning the backyard. So many weeds after the last few days of rain!

Saturday mum and I are going to a farmers market that's 10mins from my place, M is working on the workbench {hopefully} and then we're prob hitting ikea in the evening because we need a curtain rod and we're picking up patio set.

Sunday is Costco. I'm praying it won't be busy because I have no patience for that place.

    edit:
Has everyone seen this announcement from Urban Decay about Naked Heat!?
    CAN I HAS!?

This link shows the palette, couple of lipsticks and 2 liners that's with the release.

I use Honey but it's never popped up for Amazon and I just made an Amazon purchase last week.

It is a great app for regular online shopping though.  It searches all available coupon codes for that site and picks the one that will save you the most money and automatically applies it.  It probably tracks my every move too, but whatevs if it saves me some money haha.

  • I've used Honey and it's just meh to me.  It's legit, but I don't feel it does anything more for me than what I can get through Ebates or RetailMeNot.  Any of those sites are going to offer public discounts.

I need to get upstairs and in bed before 11 tonight.  I've been up past midnight too many nights in a row.   DH left for work 3 hours early last night due to a snafu.  He came home after his people got in and he got them settled.  But he didn't go back to work until after midnight, so I was awake with him.  It's been too many days in a row where I'm so tired for most of the day.

DH is contemplating asking to go back to day shift.  It's 6 in one and half dozen in the other, IMO.   His reasoning is that he's tired of not having a 'real' weekend since he can't start his day until halfway through Friday, after at least 5-6 hours of sleep, and he has to cut off his day Sunday at about 4 or 5 to get sleep.  IDK if it will really make a difference regarding how much more or less time he's engaged here at home.   I told him that I'm fine with whatever he decides he wants to do.

I'm going to a wood-painting party my sister is throwing later this month.  I thought she was going to kill me since I waited until today (the last day) to pick a sign.  :D

  • Had a friend of mine who does garage door repairs come out yesterday and miraculously, the motor started working again! He thinks they knocked a wire loose. My neighbor is going to do the electrical repairs Saturday morning. I told my realtor that I feel it's unreasonable to do the floors, but I already ordered the floor refinishing kit so I'm just going to leave it on the island for them if they want to do it. I'm also going to leave my Bona hardwood cleaner and mop since I won't need it anymore.

I listed a bunch of stuff on facebook to sell yesterday and already sold some of it. I need to go through my shoes and sell some of them. I just can't wear heels like I used to so there's no sense in having 50 pairs of shoes I can't wear. I also need to go through a box of yarn my mom gave me and cake it up (saves space). I need to pack, but H won't bring home the totes like he keeps saying he will. Grrr.

I made the mistake of adding up how much we spend annually for sports. Just the league/gym fees. Just sports. I want to puke.
  • @DrillSergeantCat  does your H take a lunch? If so, write a note and put it in his lunch so he physically sees the reminder to bring stuff home.
When I was trying to get M to find out about pay schedule, I threatened to pin a note to his damn sweater because he kept forgetting ....

He does, but I don't think he'd remember from the time lunch was eaten until he got off work. I realize I'm being cheap about this, but I can't see spending money on totes when he can get them from work. We want to use totes because after moving we'll be able to use them for storage.

Totes are expensive so if he can get them for free he should

@kvruns  is right. totes aren't cheap! Try texting him before he leaves?

You get me! Plus the ones he gets from work are the harder plastic with the hinged lids. They're more durable than the ones I can buy at Target.
  • @MissKittyDanger I love my Ikea table...the chairs are a bitch to assemble so we need to buy new ones.  Ours aren't very sturdy because the screws wore out before we could tighten them to where they need to be.  We have this set with 4 chairs and a bench instead.

@short+sassy what hotel?  I'm guessing Congress?  Have fun and thanks for the heads up.  BFF and I are looking for a weekend getaway to plan!

  • @short+sassy That's so exciting!  I hope you have a great trip!!

@MissKittyDanger I really like that set!  IKEA is one of our favourite stores.

We went and looked at an acreage for rent last night. I promised myself I wouldn't fall in love with the first place we saw, but I did. I grew up in the country and the property is super beautiful, and the house is nice enough, very large, super dated kitchen but I can deal. It's actually been for sale for 18 months but the owners are asking almost $100,000 more than comparable properties around here. I doubt it will sell. FI was sold as soon as he realized how quiet it was and far from town (still close enough to work to be convenient). So we are just waiting to speak to the landlords about the details and lease.

I have to go check out the school while I am here and see what I need to do to register my daughter. My son is going to live with his dad (his choice) so they will be separated for the first time in life. I can see it potentially being amazing or terrible. The girl child is happy to be moving to a new place. I hope the enthusiasm holds. We are only going to be 2 hours apart, and it's still super important for me to spend lots of time with the boy child, so I will be back and forth plenty.

  • @kimmiinthemitten  that's a nice set :) I saw it in person and didn't feel it would be good for outside, but originally on my list. Yeh I'm basically assuming there will be murderous words when we put it together lmao!

@kwiksilver  the bench sold me tbh lmao ikea is majority of our furniture ;)

@short+sassy there's a breakfast place near Millennium park called Eggys Diner (or something like that) that we really liked. Their breakfast potatoes were awesome. We ended up there twice in 4 days

Not Congress, The Palmer.  Though I think Congress had some good prices on Hotels.com also.  We'd love to meet up with you guys, if you all can make it out.  We're actually going from a Wed.-Tues., but the weekend dates in the middle of our trip are 8/25-8/27.

I've been reading up on The Palmer and apparently it is 145 years old, this year.  It is also where the first brownie was created.  So, you know what is going to be for dessert one of those nights ;), lol.

  • I am at orientation for work all day. I'm falling asleep. I'm trying to study on the DL for the quiz I have tonight but I'm not really getting anywhere with it.

Last night i had a dream that I went to a wedding and the bride gave out dogs as favors. I was pissed. SO and I were given a Great Dane and a Golden Retriever puppy. For some reason the "favors" were given weeks after the wedding, and delivered by some Russian dude. I took the Golden Retriever but refused the Great Dane. I think it was a combo of reading that "charity as favors" thread plus watching the news (anyone else see Putin say "don't worry, be happy" in that press conference?)

  • @short+sassy I love the Palmer House!  It's the first hotel I ever stayed at in Chicago as an adult and is a beautiful hotel!  I wish I could go to Chicago that weekend, but there's a 350 person wedding that Saturday, wah wah.

The Chicago Athletic Association crowd can be kinda douchey and there's usually a line, but if you can get up to the rooftop bar - do it!  The views are spectacular!  I'm also a big fan of Sweetwater for breakfast - it's across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel which is just a few blocks from you.

If you want to do the John Hancock, go to the bar instead of paying for the official tower tour.  The drinks are about $14 each but it's a much shorter wait.  The best view is from the women's restroom - I'm not pulling your leg.

Thanks for the tip!  I've already looked up the menus for the two eateries at my hotel.  One of those deals where a "basic breakfast" is $15.  Which I don't mind paying for something good and more unique.  But for two eggs, bacon and toast?  I'm way too chintzy for that, lol.

    STUCK:
The Eggys place has big portions although I just had the basic eggs/potato/bacon type of meal, nothing too fancy but it was good. It is a bit hidden in a semi-residential area although I think part of the problem was just where our hotel was located it was harder to get to

  • @short+sassy I stay at get Palmer House every year when I go as our conference is held there. The lobby is beautiful but rooms are hit or miss. Sometimes I've had great, updated rooms, sometimes they're pretty outdated. Hopefully you get a good one!

Thanks for the info!  My H and I aren't too picky about hotel rooms, we're more concerned with price and location.  So, even if we get a more outdated room, it probably won't bother us.  I definitely appreciate the warning.  It probably wouldn't hurt to give them a call about a week or so out and request one of the more updated rooms, if available on our check-in.

STUCK in BOX    Yes, I was going to chime in and say you have to have the brownie! It was just featured on a Travel Channel show. I live and work in Chicago so if you want any suggestions of stuff to do feel free to PM me.

  • UGH!! You guys! I totally forgot that not only do periods suck, but they come once a month! :(
  • @short+sassy the Lockwood restaurant associated with the palmer house is really good (but $$). I die for their charcuterie and bread. It's  on my to eat list once I pop this kid out.

    Have fun in Chicago!!
