Wedding Woes

Wednesday

Good morning.

Pretty much SSDD around here.  I'm so behind on work and I keep farting around online. I need to get my shit together.

Friday seems so far away.

Re: Wednesday

  • You're right.  Friday IS so far away.  And why can't flag day be a national holiday?

H and I saw a production of "Chicago' on Friday and I've been singing (albeit horribly) the songs since then. It ends on Sunday, and I asked if we could go see it again on Saturday (with 2 friends who want to see it too).  I LOVE this musical, even if it's our local production and it's not broadway.

  • So all the work I did yesterday, I forgot to save :( So now I have to start all over again.  I probably won't forget to save it though!

Last night was nothing crazy.  DD was enjoying her bouncy seat for the first time when I got home, so that was nice to see!  H made bacon & cheddar omelets and hash browns.  Delish.  DD also got a bath last night, which she actually seemed to enjoy - she is hit or miss with them.  But she always screams like a banshee once we get her out.  I guess its from the cold, but we wrap her up in 2 towels!

I got the books ordered for my H for Sunday.  I also may have gone overboard on a Prime Pantry box and adding things to my subscribe and save.  Whoops!

I need to call into our timeshare to get our maintenance fees straightened out.  However, its not as easy as just a quick phone call as I know I will be on hold for an hour or more.  Wyndham recently created a new website for their timeshare holders.  It is an utter shit show.  They totally fumbled the transfer.  Its been almost a month and people are still unable to either log on or book units.  So the phone lines have been jammed because everyone is just calling instead.

Tonight will be yoga and folding the giant basket of DD clothes that have been delayed a few times!  She is moving into the next size up and I had to wash all that stuff, so now we need to fold it and get it organized to integrate into her current clothes.

    Doesn't it?

So when they reorganized us, they took some lower level crap off my plate so I could do more big projects.  The person they gave it to hated it, and she came to my office earlier to tell me that she told boss's boss that she didn't want to do it anymore.  So I have a feeling the piddly crap is coming back to me, but I'll still be expected to do all the big stuff.  But that big raise will make it all worthwhile.../s :/

heeeeey, that's how our office works.  If you don't want to do something, you don't have to! (not me.  I have to.  Other people. Who've been here longer get that luxury).

  • Not much here. Still hurting from the dog bite-- how long does this last??

I have a bunch of nonsense email  work to do today so I'm trying to get that done. Taking so much longer with one hand but I really have no excuse not to do it. I just don't feel like it.

What kind of fuckery is that? I didn't realize people got to pick and choose their jobs.

It's my Thursday. I was so tired last night that I fell asleep on the couch with PG in my arms and Mouse on the floor. I napped about 30 minutes, but I didn't pack a single thing which means nothing got packed last night. I guess since I'm taking off Friday and the movers aren't coming until Saturday, I'll pack then. I have closing at 9 which means we need to be at the bank at 8 to get a cashier's check, an interview at 11, carpet cleaners at 1. I still need to figure out where my babies are going Saturday while we move.

I'm on day 5 of this damn headache and I'm pretty sure I have a sinus infection. The entire right side of my face hurts and when I blow my nose, it feels like I'm trying to blow teeth straight out of my jaw.
  • @CharmedPam  when you take your husband to Chicago and then you sing afterwards .... he had it comin', he only has himself to blame!

    @mrsconn23  Bloodline then OITNB

@DrillSergeantCat  sounds like some much needed and deserved rest! Are you able to do saline solutions like NetiPot? Might reduce some inflammation.

Didn't do much last night. M cut the backyard but didn't finish - there are weeds between the stones and I wanted to cut the wildflowers since they're majority weeds anyways. Plus when we redo yard, we'll be taking that part out.

I picked up a salad, and M was suppose to make chicken but once the oven was heated - neither of us wanted the chicken. So just salad.

Decided that likely only things we're gonna do this year is outlets, painting kitchen, MAYBE paint the basement and if we have a kid we'll paint their room.

    Next year we're gonna do the backyard since stones and all the other stuff isn't cheap. And paint the main level, if we don't end up doing it this year. {we're torn on that}

Also we discussed summer plans. We wanna go to the 1000 Islands {which is maybe a 2hr drive} but also I wanna see my friend who is 4hrs away. They have basement guest room, so we could go and stay overnight. Last time I saw her was .... probably last fall actually.
Her husband is military and they have 4 kids. She was saying it's easier for people to come to them, so I told M about it. They have a fire pit also. It'd be nice to go maybe over the long weekend in August.

    She's the person who my mum says will end up finding out about me being pregnant before anyone else - and only one my mum will accept to know before her {other than work lol}
Based on when M and I are gonna TTC, I would be able to take a test that weekend anyways. It'd be fun to tell her in person lol

Side note: I'm super excited for some of the stuff coming to the city this year. Canada's turning 150 and since we live in Canada's capital, we end up getting a lot of cool stuff.

  • S+S - Such good news!  Will you hold onto the car or sell it after its repaired?  Part of me would be afraid the flooding would re-occur.

I've mentioned my co-worker before: constantly sniffles/clears throat, yelled at me while I was pregnant, falls asleep in the bathroom and his chair, etc.  Well he is the type that always pushes off the work he doesn't like to do, but then takes credit for when its completed.  I learned early on in this dept he was like that, so I had to start replying to the attorney who requested the work and cc co-worker when it was completed, or I would never get the credit for it.

If you are given a work task, it is now your job.  So just do your job, whether you like it or not!

I started OITNB...but the first half of the first episode is fraying my nerves.  And the constant alarm in background is making me twitchy.

I couldn't make I through more than three episodes of OITNB. It just bugged me and I can't put my finger on why.

I'm so behind in OITNB - I got part way through last season then we just kinda gave up lmfao

  • Super, super good news yesterday!!  My insurance company determined my car was flooded.  They didn't even question it (phew!).  Which means they are paying for all repairs.  My deductible is only $100.  The adjuster's repair quote was $2K, which was less than the shop had originally been saying.  So "totaling" the car was out of the question also.

As it turned out, the auto shop I towed it to is not comfortable taking on the repairs because they don't have the right diagnostic software for a MINI (something like that).  Since I didn't have another mechanic in mind and since it would make my life easier, I just gave Progressive the okay to take of the repairs through their Service Center.  I mean, they don't actually fix the car, but they have it towed to an appropriate shop in their network.

I also have rental car insurance with them, so I'm hoping I can pick up a rental today.  I need to talk to the claims rep about that, plus I also don't have a time frame yet on when my car will be ready.  Though it is possible they don't know yet, either.

I cannot even tell you all what a relief this all is!  I feel like I can breath again.

I also want to give quick "shout out" to Progressive.  I've had their insurance over 15 years and they have always done right by me (knock on wood).  They are an easy company to work with.  I have twice had a car totaled with them and, each time, they paid out high retail NADA value.  I'm sure like any big company there are people with horror stories, but I highly recommend them.

Fantastic!  That is awesome.  And I may look into progressive now too.  I have always meant to switch providers.  Do they have accident forgiveness?

  • H is out of town all week and the dogs woke me up at 4:00 to go out - WTF! So I'm about ready for a nap. Nothing much else happening around here. Headed to Chicago this weekend (and next) so looking forward to seeing DD.

The end of the last season was heart-wrenching.  I'm not sure how I feel about the direction the show is going.  So far, it's making me nervous AF.

My plan is to start watching last season again when it's stupid levels of hot, that way I've got something to watch that M kinda likes also unlike rewatching Glee like I am now and he hates it
  • Good morning everyone.

i watched a few episodes of OITNB while I was editing some pictures last night and it took that long to get back into it. Right when it was time for bed is when I was excited for the next episode. I think it will be a good season.

@short+sassy glad to hear it all worked out with your car.

Humidity is at about 1000%. My phone says the humidity is at 74% but I disagree. I grew up in the Midwest and lived in the South, unless the US measures humidity differently there is no way it is less than 90%.

Thanks!  Eeehhhh...I've thought about that and am a little nervous also.  Then again, I drove the car for 3 years without any issue like that.  I'm thinking about it.

They don't technically have accident forgiveness, like AllState has, but that's a perk they usually throw in after you've been a customer for X number of years.  I'm not sure how many years, but I have it and it is no additional cost.  Whereas Allstate, despite their "warm and fuzzy" commercials, I'm pretty sure the accident forgiveness is an extra benefit that has to be paid for.  Not 100% sure, but that is what I've heard.

At least for my area, Progressive doesn't necessarily have the cheapest rock-bottom rates.  But they are on the lower end of the range.  And car insurance is EXPENSIVE where I live.  Because we have a higher than normal percentage of uninsured drivers that, unfortunately, screws over the law abiding rest of us.

Every few years, I'll call and get quotes.  But, honestly, another company's rates would have to be at least 30% cheaper for me to even start considering because I've been so happy with Progressive.  So far, rates I've gotten have mostly been more expensive.  If they were cheaper, it was only slightly cheaper.

  • @short+sassy I used to have my motorcycle with Progressive and you're right that after a few years, they'll add accident forgiveness.
  • At work/school all day today. I have two tests and two quizzes and I am not prepared at all. Working multiple days before school is not going to work for me. I need to have time to study. I also have to call and turn down a job that finally was offered after two months (where was it in freaking April?!).

  • Perception is so funny.

I picked up my rental car at lunch.  It is a Hyundai Elantra.  A very normal sized passenger car.  But to me compared to my MINI, it feels HUGE, lol.  I'm like, "Whoa!  FOUR doors instead of two!?!?"  So many doors.  I mean, of course it has four doors, lol.  I'm the weirdo with a tiny car that only has two.

But the really disconcerting part is going from a manual to automatic transmission.  I keep reaching for a gear shift that isn't there.  And trying to press an imaginary clutch.  And, by the time I get my car back, I'll be back used to an automatic and have to retrain myself all over again, lol.

    Are you preggo?????
  • @short+sassy I've had my Hyundai Sonata for four years now and I still have no concept of its size. I feel like I'm driving a boat every day.
