Wedding Woes

NO Tuesday?

What's up ladies?

Nothing much today.  It's been storming like crazy the last few days with more slated this afternoon.  We're cleaning and running errands and picking up tickets for Kings Island.  There's so much shit in this house.  I know I always say that, but ugh.  DH did say he could get rid of some clothes now that he knows he'll stay in a uniform.  Happy day!!!  He keeps claiming I have more room storage than him, but fails to realize I have fewer clothes and I actually organize the stuff I do have.  HE HAS BOXERS FROM COLLEGE AND SHIRTS FROM HIGH SCHOOL!  He's 40.

6let had his first orthodontist appointment yesterday.  He'll be fitted with a palette expander by the end of the month.  Boy he's expensive this year.

In AMAZING news, my friend has been trying to adopt.  She's getting a long term /potential forever placement today. The girl is 8 and they don't have any real history so friend is excited and freaked.

Re: NO Tuesday?

  • @6fsn I hope things go super well for friend and family!
Is your DH very sentimental? Perhaps that is why he still has so many boxes?

SSDD here. As we get closer to my wedding I'm starting to go crazy. It's not cold feet, it's more like I'm questioning whether I'm capable of not screwing this up. Also, I have to finish cleaning out the basement and I really don't want to. It's so overwhelming because there is so much to do no matter how I break it down.

Not sentimental.  Just slight hoarder with a long history of people that don't throw things away.  His mom's house makes me cringe.
  • OMG @ clothes from HS and college.  I mean, DH has stuff from the Marines, but he's pared that down and it stays in our storage room.  And boxers? Wow.  LOL

The weather sucks balls.  It's been storming a ridiculous amount since last night.  Water is pooling everywhere and all the yards look like mini lakes.

Poor DH is really struggling with the schedule switch.  He was up pretty much from 1:30a on last night.  I said nothing because I know he can't help it and I didn't want to deal with shitty DH when I was half tired and just trying to fall back asleep.

Two weeks and 2 days until school starts.  I'm beyond ready.
  • Don't worry @NiceKindaSpice I had those feelings too.

good luck to your friend 6! I would love to adopt, I think it is such a wonderful act.

I spent most of the day organizing DH's office/ work bench. It took so much longer than the entire storage room. I did find a universal remote though so that is pretty life changing, before we had to *get up* to turn the tv on or switch it to Netflix, Uhhhhg ;) .
I made 7 layer taco dip for dinner because it is pretty much the same as tacos and it is Tuesday.
  • @6fsn Yuck orthodontist. As an adult with braces, I know how expensive it is  :s  And that's so exciting for your friend! Fingers crossed for her that everything goes smoothly.

SSDD for me as well. Packing/organizing the house has taken over my life lol. Luckily I'm one of those wierdos who loves organizing and purging. Literally the opposite of your H @6fsn lol. I got my Amazon shipment in yesterday with lots of totes/packing supplies. Am I the only one who is literally obsessed with Amazon? Seriously, other than groceries I literally buy everything off there. So convenient that it comes right to my door lol.
  • 2 1/2 WEEKS @mrsconn23!!  That is crazy. This summer has flown by. Kids here don't go back till September and even that seems right around the corner.
  • @6fsn, there was a really bad storm here yesterday afternoon.  So much rain, I could barely see past a few feet.  I hope everything works out well for your friend and the adoption!

I somehow screwed up my business checking and have a bounced debit coming through.  Though my bank actually called me to tell me!  Like, a real person called me, lol.  I apologized for making a mistake in my bookkeeping and asked if they would let it go through and I will come in with a deposit.  She said that was fine and she'll even waive the fee since it is my first overdraft.  Yay for small wins.

My H and I had a conference call last night with the real estate investor who is thinking about taking us on to help him with his business.  Things are still progressing further and we're meeting him on Friday for a 2-hour meeting.  Hopefully, that will determine if this is a yay or nay and we can get down to brass tacks, ie money.

I had dinner with this gent on Sat., but Fri. will be the first time he is meeting my H.  Honestly, my H is the one who can offer the most amount of help.  I have a f/t job, whereas he has not been working.  But there are some aspects I could take on also in my free time.  In everyone's perfect world, we lend valuable support to this investor that frees up his time so he can grow his business.  As his business grows, our involvement and compensation grows.  And our knowledge also grows for our own real estate investing business.

  • @missJeanLouise thank you
@Apollymi omg I LOVE Amazon. Besides the delivery, there's no interpersonal contact required. Lol!

Amazon, Amazon Prime, Amazon Prime now are my favorite things EVER.

  • @Apollymi, Amazon is fantastic.  Oh!  That just reminded me.  Today is Prime Day.  Supposedly a lot of extra deals going on for Prime Members.

But I digress.  I like Amazon because I can often find things cheaper on there.  Or...I can FIND specific items.  That aren't sold where I live.

I know you said "except grocery shopping", which is true for me also, but my coworker's daughter lives in Seattle.  They will freakin' deliver groceries to her.  But I think that is only available in a few places at the present time.

  • @short+sassy What! Ah so jealous. Ooh and yes to prime day! I can't decide if I should become a prime member. At this point, I feel like its definitely worth it.

  • 2 1/2 WEEKS @mrsconn23!!  That is crazy. This summer has flown by. Kids here don't go back till September and even that seems right around the corner.

Our schools are on a 'balanced calendar', meaning they get a 2 week break in October (fall break) and two weeks for spring break.  Schools not on the calendar start 2+ weeks after us.  I like the shortened summer break because bored kids, plus we've started taking vacations in October...which is a much easier time to travel.
  • Happy Tuesday.

Last night I was asked to do the member bike ride.  It ends at one of my favorite restaurants.  I would love to do the bike ride.  Sadly I have to work at our river restaurant.   Which BTW, I've NEVER worked at before.  Not once.  I don't even know the menu.  This should be interesting.  I don't even know what I will be doing.    Would rather be biking.  :|

I'm praying for rain.  We need it so bad.  There is a chance later today, but we sometimes live in a bubble and it goes all around us, but not hit us directly.

You can have some of ours.  I think the amount of rain is what killed one of our fledgling trees.  :/
  • Morning all!  Yesterday got a text from H that the house smelled like skunk :(  Went home and I couldn't smell anything, but H could and thought I was crazy.  I called the dog over and got a faint skunk smell off her.  My niece spent all day upstairs with the baby because of the smell.  It's not like when Olive got directly sprayed, so I think she probably walked where a skunk had either walked or sprayed and she got residuals on herself.  So another bath for her and she hates them.  Once she got washed everything started to get better.  I put out bowls of vinegar, but I ran out so I was unable to put it in a spray bottle.  So I will be out at lunch getting more.

I was really hoping for a relaxing night!  Oh well!  Tried to feed DD her apples again and she just made faces and let it drizzle out of her mouth.  So I mixed it into her cereal and she ate it all!  I've got mom tricks already and she's only 4 1/2 months!

Tonight I HAVE to do the dishes, they would have been done last night if I didn't have to wash the dog.  She drains all my energy when I have to wash her because she is always looking for an escape route out of the tub!  I also want to clear off the kitchen table.  It's getting cluttered with mail and receipts.

It's Prime Day and honestly the deals aren't that great.  I did get a few things, but the savings is only a few dollars off of regular price.  I am still watching a few things, but probably won't buy anything else.  I am in the need for a new laptop, but the ones they have aren't really what I'm looking for.

6 - I hope your friends adoption plans work out!  Such a wonderful thing!

Apolly - if you order as often as you say, you should just get Prime!  I love Prime Pantry (non-perishable groceries and other household items).  I got a little obsessed with filling the boxes while I was out on maternity leave!

MrsConn - hope DH adjusts to the time change soon.  My dad has been retired from 3rd shift close to 10 years and still has a weird sleeping pattern!

S+S - That was nice of your bank to call and waive the fee!  I would have suggested you ask they waive the fee since it was a first, but they did it proactively!  Good luck with the investor!

@oliveoilsmom not sure what diapers you use but I got a big box of Huggies last night for $0.08 per diaper for size 4. I don't usually use Huggies but so far he's been fine in any brand and the price was great so I bought in a bigger size to have on hand.

Ugh.   We had a sprinkle yesterday.    Otherwise It's been May since we had any measurable rain.  It's super dry.  Wildfires not far away. Luck for us it's pushing away from us, but we still see the haze from the smoke.

DD blew out pretty much every time she wore Huggies.  We ended up donating the rest of the packages we were gifted.  Thanks though!  I did see they were having 30% off!

oh yuck! I've only used huggies from a sample/trial pack but he did fine. I'm happy that he's done well in everything from fancy brand to store brand and everything in between.
  • @6fsn  what is it with guys? I have shirts from high school because I don't wanna part with them, but I also never wear them. I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but when my mum was going through my dad's old papers she found that he had taxes from mid-1980s lmao!
How exciting for your friend though! :D

@NiceKindaSpice  Honestly, you'll go through so many emotions between now and the actual day. Best advise I wish someone had given me, is just let the emotions flow. Whatever you feel, just allow yourself to feel it. It's a crazy time and sometimes it'll make you feel better.

@mrsconn23  wait 2 1/2 weeks? They start at the beginning of August?? Here earliest kids start is the last week of August.

@missJeanLouise  feel free to send some dip my way ;)

@short+sassy  it's so weird when a real person from the bank calls lmao!

Not a whole lot last night. M realized I have zero idea how to work a BBQ :')
He went to get buns for the sausages and said "when it hits this temp, turn it down to half and open lid." I did not open lid .... oops!

Started discussing about garage and basement projects. We're thinking easiest might be garage until the electrician comes in and we can start the basement.
The upstairs is still really clean from my clean up on the weekend.

Tomorrow M is going to a soccer game with his buddy, so I may try to tackle our office and get that more organized. We're trying not to use the other spare room since it will eventually be a kid's room - just trying to get into better habits now instead of "oh we need to change when we do X soon"

I have such a headache today :( Nothing is working.

  • @mrsconn23  wait 2 1/2 weeks? They start at the beginning of August?? Here earliest kids start is the last week of August.

Yeah, school years around here run from late July/early August through late May/1st week of June.   School is typically wrapped up by the first weekend of June unless we have an atrocious winter and the kids have make-up days.

And the one time recently that the kids were out of school an additional week due to weather, they allowed school days to be extended by an hour or so to lessen the amount of make-up days required.  ;)
  • last night was hellish, so i'm a bit of a zombie today.

dogs got into another fight last night - first one i have witnessed. same spot as last one, but no food or any potential triggers. big one tried to play but little one got upset and went from play to fight in a split second. Luckily there was minimal injury, but big dog got little dog's ears again, so he's at the vet getting checked out, today. (i got him to stop bleeding last night, and dont think the vets could do much if anything so decided to take him to them first thing this morning rather than e-vet last night. i ended up at urgent care after getting little dog bandaged up because he bit my hand while i was breaking up the fight - and i wanted to make sure i got a teatnus shot and antibiotics. it was just a puncture, and nothing that required stitches, but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't get infected.

Since DK is out of the country, and this all went down right after I got Wolverine home, we didn't eat dinner until after we got home from urgent care and the pharmacy - at like 10pm.

we have calls into several trainers and behavior specialists to see what is recommended and look at next steps. we want to get them evaluated and work on the training to see if there's anything we can do to prevent this or any other issues. i hate to think about next steps if the training and behavior specialists didn't work (rehoming), but we can't keep them apart forever and it's not fair to them or us to put everyone in danger of another fight.

The only positive to come out of this - I saw my neuro for another follow-up today, and I think the stem cell treatment really did work well - given all of the stress, elevated BP, dehydration, and lack of food and sleep last night and my botox being due in < 3 weeks, I should have a raging migraine today. I do have a headache, but it's really mild (like a 2 on the pain scale)  - so glad for that much.

take some of ours too. 2017 has been wettest on record :( May be why our bleeding hearts are done for the season
  • I'm so sorry about the dogs, Barbie.   I hope training works.

    Yay for effective treatment though.
  • That's crazy about school starting again. It seems so early.

I had to make a return for a damaged item the other day. The lady I spoke to was really funny. She was all "I can offer you next day deli--wait--I can offer you same day delivery! I am so jealous of you Californians! It takes like a week for anything here." I told her I was jealous of my friend who lives in LA. She gets same hour prime delivery. One time she primed herself ice cream. Lol.

Today I am cleaning my apartment. It hasn't been actually cleaned in....I don't know how long. Bff and her sister and their kids are going to stay in it this weekend although I'm a little unsure of how it's going to work. I only have one bedroom.

Otherwise, I'm meeting a friend at the gym and I'm just studying. We took jack too the vet yesterday and got his new medicine. He's gained a whole pound! He's still weak but that's okay. He's working on it. Yesterday he was even trying to jump off my legs when we were sitting on the ground. He wasn't very successful, but he gets a gold star for effort.

  • @mrsconn23  ohh I guess that makes sense. Kids here don't do makeup days for missed school due to weather.

@*Barbie* jeez rough night :( Hopefully tonight's better and your headache doesn't get worse! <3
  • @*Barbie* I'm glad your headache is mild and I'm sorry about the dogs fighting. I hope everything works out without rehoming.
@MissKittyDanger I'll try to follow your advice. Thank you. <3
  • Staying inside today because of the storms - I don't really have a reason to go out today. Prime Day is sucking my time away. I've bought a couple of things including a Christmas present for SIL. He's is so difficult to buy for. I don't think they have all that great deals.

Getting ready to go on a long weekend with DH and some friends. We are going wine tasting in Oregon. Really looking forward to it. I think my friend really needs the time away.

I need to get some stuff done around here. So I need to get off this computer!

So I'm going through bariatric sleeve prep, and one of the things required is to get a psych eval for it. They gave me, what I thought, was 2 recommendations for docs.  today in my nutrition appt the nurse said she thought it wasn't a recommendation but a requirement to use theirs.  I told her I couldn't get a hold of the one psychiatrist that was in my network so I found my own.  She said she would try to contact them and see....but it's 12:30 now and no call from anyone yet.  They're having as much luck as I did (I left him 2 messages!).  I would like to know if i have to switch appts and free up my night though. ugh.

also, this post reminded me that it's only Tuesday.  Does it feel later than that for anyone else?  Monday must have been a drag.
