Friday!!!

What is up?!?!?!

I got up early to work out and get some work done, then made the kids a pile o' waffles.  M2 is at a playdate.  We're watching a neighbor kid for a bit after lunch, then we are sitting poolside!

Not much this weekend: One baseball game Saturday and one practice Sunday and Church. Oh and the grocery.  Taking those 3 was worse than taking them as babies.

This text to DH had me laughing like a 12 yo boy:

"I was poking around on dicks and saw the padded ones. Might be something to do this weekend."

(I was looking for padded shorts for my kid, but it came out funny)

Re: Friday!!!

  • So tired today. I played a double header at softball last night and let’s just say I’m not as young as I was once. I had a great game and now I’m feeling it hard in my knees and back. So old. But so so fun.

My Moms Birthday is tonight so we’re having dinner at my sisters. She has a beautiful pool and the weather is gorgeous today so I’m hoping for some swim time with my niece.

Not much else this werkend; my nephews birthday is tomorrow (Hs brothers kid). They’re getting a new pool out in and he wanted swim floats so we got him a taco and a bacon floats.

Lol @6fsn I've wondered about the like vs love thing too
The floaties sound perfect @charlotte989875 and happy birthday to your mom
Yay for water and a surgery date @CharmedPam

TGIF.  The Bronx Zoo has a neat dinosaur exhibit right now and members get early morning access on weekends...9am instead of 10am.  So we're hitting that up tomorrow.  I've had a productive week running errands after school so other than the zoo the weekend is shaping up to be pretty relaxing :)
  • I'm off work in an hour!!  Wahoo.

I am going to get my nails done.  I have to take DefConn with me.  I have the iPad with downloaded shows and I'll bring snacks.  I hope he can be chill for hour+ I need him to sit there and be good in public.  ;)

Tonight we're watching my nephews so SIL/BIL can go out to dinner for their anniversary.  Tomorrow, we're heading OOT to DH's cousin's wedding.  Sunday we'll probably spend some time with DH's family before heading home.

Dudes, last night we went shopping for a new polo for DefConn to wear to this wedding (because the ONE polo he has is too short).  DH ended up finding a shirt too.  We also found a pair of Nikes for DefConn and a pair of Vans for DH (both pairs on clearance) and I bought a top on clearance.  All that was for under $100.  The shoes alone full price would have been about $130.  I <3 Kohls.

The weekend is going to be a whirlwind, but I am looking forward to seeing DH's family.  I have not seen his uncle since last summer when he was in ICU.
  • I’m about to get in trouble at work. 🙄 there’s a new rule about employee parking so I had to move my car. I need new tires soon so as I was moving it the tires squealed and then the security guard tried to bully me about it. So I’m sure I’ll hear about it. I have a lot to do today. Yesterday I did a 12 mile hike and forgot sunscreen and man am I burnt. Today I have a class at work and then I have to gym, clean the house, and go out for FI’s coworkers bday. Tomorrow a friend is coming to visit and we’re getting dinner and drinks downtown to celebrate our graduations.

But did you at least put the correct new cover sheet on your TPS report?

@charlotte989875 haha ... I love the food floats lol

@CharmedPam what surgery? I think I missed you mentioning it

@eileenrob nice B-) enjoy your zoo time :)

@mrsconn23 jealous you're done early ;) I'm sure ipad will occupy him lol
    Whoo deals! :)

I ordered cloth swim diaps and playpen sheets from Amazon. Better deal and prints than in person.
We're starting milk this weekend, so fingers crossed it goes well :)

Futon leaves tomorrow, so I gotta move a few things by the door and M is gonna check basement to ensure it can go out. I moved a bunch of stuff off it while tossing laundry in.

I think I may get M to start putting together BabyKitten's trike tonight. He wants to go fishing on Sunday, so I may take her to a new park. I wanna take her on the trike instead of stroller.

We've kinda figured an idea for M's debt if the bank doesn't give him a better one, so we have a game plan.
We're also gonna look at selling stuff on fb marketplace to try and bring some cash in. It may only be small stuff - like a few things of first bday stuff from BabyKitten, another tub of formula if she transitions well with milk, etc.
  • @sparklepants41 btw, idk what BabyPants wears but I found a site thru pinterest with really cute girl stuff at a decent price. I don't need to get BabyKitten stuff, but I'll prob be checking later

  • Super busy day at work.  Of course it is.  Because Fridays are my half-days and I'll have to work late :(.

I have some loose ends to tie up with my duplexes purchase.  Including now the title company is PO'ing me off.  They promised my lender they would have the title work to them on Tues. They didn't, so I called them Wed. and was promised it would definitely be sent over that afternoon.  I get an e-mail from my broker at 4:40PM yesterday that he had just spoken to the lender and they STILL don't have the title work!  The lender said, "We're still trying to shoot for a closing on the 12th, but we need the title work ASAP to make that happen."

I called at 8:45 this morning, but the person handling this for me was not in yet.  I left a message.  That was over 90 minutes ago and no return call.  This is the third time I've used this title company and have previously been happy with them.  But they are on my last nerve right now because I feel like they've dropped the ball.  They should have had the title work to my lender before this week even started.  Yet, here we are at the end of the week and they still haven't sent it.

But on to good topics.  My new dual recliner sofa is being delivered today.  I'm hoping it's there and already set up when I get home around 1PM, but the delivery can happen anytime between 8AM-5PM today.

On Sat., my H and I are going over to a new couple friend's house for a BBQ and game night.  They're providing the meat/main dishes, we're bringing the liquor and sides/apps.  I'm thinking a 7-layer dip with chips and a pasta salad.  If I do say so myself, I make an awesome pasta salad.

I use Ken's Light Parmesan/Romano Italian dressing.  It's a light, lower calorie dressing but don't let that fool you.  It's one of the best tasting Italian dressings I have ever had, including full calorie ones.  Then I also throw in yummy extras like feta cheese and pepperoni.  Lots of sliced black olives.

That's also fun you sent this to sparklepants41and the name of the site is Sparkle in Pink ;).

Curiosity question.  I know BabyKitten is just learning to walk, but you talked about M putting together a trike for her.  Is pedaling something babies can do around the same time they start walking?  I would have thought that comes much later, but then I am also clueless on the ways of the children, lol.

The trike is a convertible one I'll link a similar one below.

Step 1 {now} - contained seating. Able to grab handles and pedal but won't really work. Has push handle for me.

Step 2 - Same but regular seating

    Step 3 - regular trike {no handle}

This has a sun cover and a little fancier, but basic idea:

  • I'm so glad it's the end of the week.  I'm going to sleep all weekend.

I just found out that the ED that gave me so much grief in my community work and is a major reason why I resigned from everything, has been put on an action plan with daily activity reports and weekly deliverables b/c she had missed funding deadlines.  GOOD.  I'm trying not to be hateful, b/c more than anything, I want that organization to succeed.  But a bitter part of me is glad to see her get some comeuppance about her perception vs. her performance of her job.

We're going to dinner with a friend who is moving soon tonight and then I think we're going to go see one of the movies in the park afterwards.  It's also First Friday, so maybe we'll just hit up some art galleries.  K is OOT on Saturday for a roller derby tournament and, while I'll miss them, I think I need some alone time too.  This weekend will be my first time messing about with the "real time" rowing videos, so I'm looking forward to that.  The rest of the weekend is SSDD, but that's nice.  We did 2 trips in 5 days, so it'll be nice to have some down time.

The neighbor girl broke her foot so I’m watching the brother this afternoon. The kid isn’t bad or anything but I get annoyed just listening to his voice. He’s really freaking immature too.
  • Doh!  Blow to morale.  My H just called that the delivery guy came with the couch.  But it was broken :(.  Phew, at least it was discovered while he was still there.  In fact, it was the delivery guy who first noticed the damage.  Barely even made it off the truck before it was going right back in.  Whomp-whomp.

Now I'm wondering how long it will take for another to be shipped.  Guess I'll get in touch with Amazon later today, but I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a few days for them to even get the return through their system.

Our old couch is already at the curb and we're not bringing it back in.  Plus, apparently it fell apart as it was being moved anyway.

Ummm.  We have one recliner.  And a few of those folding chairs that come in a bag, lol.  I guess that will be our living room seating for the time being.  Ooohh, we have a patio set.  Maybe we'll drag in the two-seater from that, lmao.

On a different topic, going on 3 hours now and still no return call from my title company.  Hmphhh!  I'll be sending her an e-mail in awhile anyway and I'll call again after that.

  • I got home from Nashville yesterday (via Chicago at both ends of the trip). We had a great time. So much to do there. H and I have been to Nashville several times but never been able to do some shows. The gals and I went to 3 different shows. All very different. We ate some AMAZING food and did a walking/food tour of mid-town. I highly recommend that to anyone going there. We stayed in a nice VRBO in East Nashville - less than a 10 min. Uber ride to mid-town. Now I'm home, cleaning, doing laundry and getting ready to go back to Chicago for the twins' first birthday next weekend. I ordered them each a small cake so they can have a birthday cake. SIL and DD weren't going to get them a cake because it is wasteful. Nana had other thoughts! Don't worry they know I'm doing it - they just aren't paying for it!

We also got the proofs back from our family photo shoot. They turned out well especially considering that they were inside and not outside like we had hoped.

H and I are going to meet with a contractor this afternoon to see how much it will cost to change the things in the house we saw two weekends ago. Afterwards, we are going to look at a couple of other houses with our realtor.

Tomorrow night we are having a rum tasting with a group of friends. We've done scotch, bourbon and Irish whiskey before. Wonder what will be next. It is fun group of younger people (haha 30's and 40's) that H worked with before he retired.

I laughed out loud @6sfn! @mrsconn23 I'm just exhausted reading about your weekend. Geez @short+sassy that's a major pain. I hate it when people don't do what they say/should do. Have a great weekend everyone!
  • @ILoveBeachMusic, I'm glad you enjoyed Nashville!  I've never been there, but now you are intriguing me.  So cute the two little cakes!  I'm surprised your SIL and DD weren't planning to get cake.  I thought getting pics/videos of babies on their 1st birthday shoving their little hands and faces into the cake were classics, lol.

Even though I was only 4, I still remember my sister's 1st birthday.  We kept encouraging her to take some cake with her hand.  She looked at it for a long period of time, but wouldn't touch it.  And then, all of a sudden...with no hands...she leaned over and just took a bite directly out of the cake's edge.  It was so hilarious, we were all laughing for the longest time.

    YASSS!!! GO BABYPANTS! :D
  • @short+sassy what a bummer. If it makes you feel better, any time I’ve ever called amazon to ask for a replacement they’ve shipped it out same day so I’ve either gotten it that day, or within 2-3 days. Hopefully you don’t have to wait long!

Thanks, I'll hope!  But it was two weeks out from when I ordered it to being delivered today.  It's delivered by a freight company, so I could see that making it more complicated.  I'm just rooting for being given priority, lol.

My SIL is extremely thrifty (to put it mildly). He thought it was a waste of money and food to buy a cake that they wouldn't eat but would get their hands or mouths on! I said that they needed to have a cake and do just that. I asked DD if it was ok if I bought them a cake and she said that was fine. There will be a cake for the adults that won't have little hands on it. I've eaten off of three first birthday cakes that had little hands on it and survived, but to each his own.

That’s so funny! My parents have slides of my brother smashing his whole face into his first birthday cake.

Today I’m going to a protest against the possibility of war with Iran. After that I’ll be home for a little while, then DW and I are going to make a Target run. Tonight we’re going to see Cleveland’s women’s football team.

Tomorrow morning I have to get up at a ridiculously early hour because I have an appointment to donate platelets (I had to reschedule my blood donation a couple weeks back because I had a bug bite on my arm). After that, I have a Meetup, and then I’m meeting my sponsee.

LOL. The best perk of being a grand is over-riding (with permission)!  Years ago I had a graduation party for one of the kids.  My youngest nephew put ONE finger in ONE CORNER of a large sheet cake.  A sister-in-law refused to have any cake.  And yet, this same woman not only brought her dog to the party, but proceeded to place a “puddle pad” under my kitchen table!!

I am posting as I await our room being ready here in Indianapolis.  We almost always get lucky with early check-in, which is extremely helpful when traveling with the grands.  It is SO much easier to be unpacked and organized prior to their arrival!  Paw Patrol exhibit, here we come.......with our annual trek to Shapiro’s Deli, and the Albanese aka Gummy Bear Castle!
  • @MobKaz, I hope you have a great time here in Indy! Don't forget to go to Graeter's Ice Cream! It won't be long before my grands will be going to the Children's Museum! I was thinking we would take them in July when they are down here for a week. The carousel and Playscape are great for that age.

We used to stop at Graeter’s, but DD is on such a restricted diet, that we had to pass.  However, last year we discovered The Flying Cupcake shop!  Oh. My. Word.  I don’t even need to heed the diet, but their “Bunny’s Favorite Carrot” cupcake was INSANE.  DD said their Hoosier Buckeye was also amazing.  I defy anyone to realize it is dairy free and gluten free!!  We buy a bunch and then take schnibbles of all of them.  My favorite this time was Cinnamon Sugar.

Because they are now 3 and almost 5 (gasp), we took advantage of the Sports Experience as well.  Today was cloudy and a little cool, so it was the perfect day to play out there.  I had NO idea it wrapped around to the mini golf course!  The Playscape is always the hit of the day.  Both grands navigated the tree house independently this time.

This was our third year, and look forward to at least a few more yet!
