I must have missed this! Maybe it happened on a board I wasn't following at the time. From my perspective, nothing unusual happened. She was posting like she normally did one day and then was suddenly gone.

I also miss mrsmitten (I forget her full username) from Michigan. I've thought about her a few times during the pandemic because that was a dicey place to be. Plus, last we knew, she was in sales for a catering company which is certainly not a good industry to be in right now. I hope her and her H are doing great, in spite of everything.

And OurWildKingdom! (I'm pretty sure that's the username). She stopped posting when her SO was about to start a slew of surgeries. I assumed she'd come back once they were recovered, but that was a long time ago. Hopefully everything went well.

Does anyone remember CatDanger or something like that? I may be confusing her screen name with MissKittyDanger but she had Cat in it.. cute blonde with short hair, was pregnant with her 2nd child and a newlywed? She was brave enough to confess to us her love life was taking a toll because her hubby didn’t really have great hygiene and didn’t shower all too much. I really should have told her she wasn’t alone so she had some unity. My ex was the same plus refused to brush his teeth, hence making our own love life challenging. I really liked her.

Yes! I was remembering her also, but couldn't remember anything about her username. I think it did have Cat in it. She was the front desk person at a mechanic's shop. Then she got another job and was really excited about it. But that was when she disappeared, lol. I assume she couldn't Knot at the new job, so she didn't come back.

There was someone else around the same time who disappeared when she changed jobs. I can't remember her username at all, but she had the BEST and craziest stories from her job. Though not in a good way, at least not for her. She eventually found another job and we all joked we were so happy for her, but were going to miss the stories. But then she also didn't come back after she started the new one.

Katori has bumpa (she also lives really close to me, we've talked about getting together at some point). He passed in the last couple years and I believe they went as a family to that town in Dec. 2019.

Heffa definitely didn't start dramz. That wasn't her style. We're still social media friends. Our kids have the same name.

I think that was theprettiestbeckler (or something like that). Her H was a pilot. I remember the last time she was here, she was pregnant and due about the same time as DD. I also remember her because she and DD have the same birthday. I remember the most random things.

I actually still have FB contact w/ folks I knew from L&L. Y'all were my 2nd home, but they were my first. and they split multiple times, esp after they got 'hidden'.

I no longer sit in front of computers all day, so I miss SO MUCH.

But does anyone remember the 'night of the ballards raid' on some of 'the nest' boards where the company had some fuckup with their coupon codes and people were doing shady things to get home decor items?
It was hilarious. ANd someone there made an entire ballad about it.

L&L was the "love and life" board--part of the newlywed boards at first, maybe? There was normal drama and there but it was pretty close-knit and once they tried to force us all over to thenest (NO), it was a 'hidden' board that you actually had to know the link to to get in. We ended up tight, a lot of us are still on FB together, and there was some P&E overlap. And there was another empty board a spliter group took over...can't remember what though.
I miss some of them a lot, but I do still have some connections there.

The night of the Ballards Raid was on thenest, I *think* on the "home" board.
So, one evening someone found a coupon code that was supposed to be something like $20 off of $50 merchandise--it was probably intended as a 1 time use code to someone but they screwed up. (my deets are a bit fuzzy, this was like 12 years ago)

So, around 3 pm, people realized that if you put $50+ worth of stuff in your cart, removed $30 worth of it, you had to pay like $5 shipping and you'd get the $20 worth of stuff free.
Also, nothing stopped you from doing this 5 times with 5 orders. So $100 worth of stuff for $25 in shipping.
And people. went. nuts.
I'm talking 5 orders of the same thing--allegedly not to resell, but we all knew it was going on ebay.
After 5:00, people were ordering until the code expired at midnight. (I personally decided that it didn't seem right and there was nothing I needed *that* much)

And the next morning, at 9:00 am the people from Ballards Design came in to their office.
And it was AMAZING. People who had ordered stuff between 3:00-5:00 got stuff. Everyone was posting "my order was cancelled" or "my order listed shipped" or "my order listed as shipped this morning, but now it's cancelled".

There were fuckers being assholes throwing fits that they didn't get to keep their hoarded illicit sunflower clocks or fuzzy throw pillows or whatever was the design trend at that moment.

There were people being very chill too--and some people got their stuff. But there were official public statements on websites about 'abuse of coupon codes' and implied accusations of theft. And they created a thenest account to come on and tell people that, no, they were cancelling as many orders as they could. And most of us thought people who bitched were being assholes.

And someone on the board who was was dramatic and hilarious wrote a page long poem that literally started "It was the night of the Ballard's Raid" and detailed it as an epic poem and I WISH I had it, but don't. I wonder if it's in the depths of the boards somewhere.

What was the thing that happened with the coupons with Target and carrieann and a baby seat? She was bitching and (I think it was me, TBH), some poster was like, STFU, you're just pissed the scam isn't working for you? And she stormed off soon thereafter b/c she got caught admitting she wanted to get pregnant again b/c she liked the attention? OH, and she accidentally shoplifted from BabyGap and I'm not sure anyone believed her.

Anyway, I think it was a baby trade in or registry completion thing. She was mad she couldn't double dip the discount.

The shop lifting thing was that she'd found/put a bathing suit or something on the bottom of the stroller and forgot she'd placed it there. She noticed it after she left the store, but then she went back there the SAME DAMN DAY and still didn't pay for it.

I think she ended up divorced? They were trying to watch Kirk Cameron movies (Fireproof and the like) to save their marriage.

She had her defenders, but yeah...hot, hot mess.

I've just never forgot how mad she was, b/c it was like the next day and some people were able to get whatever baby seat that was for the super cheap and other's orders got canceled, and she was all, IT'S NOT FAIR. Like, the company made an honest mistake and y'all took advantage of it and not everyone got away with it. STFU and have a Ho Sit Down card!!

There was a website glitch (pretty sure it was Target) and a super high end carseat or stroller was available for pennies, so a bunch of people hopped on it. They canceled almost all the orders, including hers, and she fucking whinged about...like on and on.

Hookapants!!! I lost touch with her, though she did see my message about divorcing exH a few years ago. I sent her a Christmas card, but she changed her number and everything. I was never sure what happened or if she was totally fake or what. But she helped me a lot with my racial education, so I'll always remember her fondly.
