Wedding Woes

Working on Wednesday

I'm in the office for a bit this morning to work on a project that was best served with a real desk/computer/monitor. There's like 10 people here - I really need to stop wearing workout clothes if I go to the office bc everyone else is dressed normally

Re: Working on Wednesday

  • Ha!  I bet yoga pant sales soared through the pandemic!

    Last night was wonderful.  M came over AND MADE ME DINNER!  And it was good.  Stuffed pork chops.  I loved watching a man cook!  My ex did it only when we bought the meal kits and only a few times - but then we both hated the clean up he caused. But that reminds me...i think I want to sign up for them again. I loved the no thinking of what to make for dinner part of it.  The grocery part, not bad either.
    That’s so great Pam! I hope it’s not weird but I’m totally cheering for you guys.
  • We've had beautiful weather her all week - 70 degrees and sunny!  I've been getting out for short walks on my work breaks so the nice weather has helped.

    We put in an offer on a townhome last night.  They have until 5 PM today to respond.  It's a really strong offer and if it's not accepted or countered, we'll probably give up the search for now.  ::Fingers crossed:: Purple shirt vibes are for jobs, not sure what the vibe is for house offers!

    Otherwise it's business as usual here.  I am putting together a 2-hour class for work and need to get the draft for that finalized today.  Mani/pedi appointment tonight and eye appointment tomorrow afternoon.  Would like to watch part of the VP debate tonight so we'll see how late I can stay awake.  Have not been able to fall asleep the last couple of nights so I'll probably want to go to bed early tonight.  Need to do some cleaning and de-junking.  Especially the de-junking if we'll be moving in a couple of months.

  • I'm pretty sure I read that all athletic/leisure wear sales have soared during the pandemic. I know I bought several pairs of yoga pants in the spring. I hadn't bought any in quite a while. We've been getting blue apron meals about once a month. We've really liked the recipes, but it is pretty expensive. H loves to cook (lucky me) so it has given him new recipes - several of which we have put in our normal rotation after figuring out exactly what the recipe is.

    I have my upper body seated workout with my trainer today. I'm still seated today. Maybe next week I can stand. It will depend on what the PT tells me on Friday. I spent a good chunk of yesterday afternoon on the screened porch. It was a beautiful afternoon. The dog curled up with me under a blanket, and he stayed there for hours even after I came inside.

    I'm getting annoyed at Chicago (sorry knotties that live there). DD told me that Indiana will probably be put on their banned travel list. I don't get it. We aren't that bad, not the best but certainly not the worst. It really doesn't effect me, because when we go there we stay at DD's for the entire time. Their ban just says if you come into the area you have to self quarantine for 14 days before going out in the community. DD doesn't actually live in Chicago city limits, but her town often follows the same guidelines. What it does effect is that if DD comes here she has to quarantine for 14 days after returning home which means no working. They are suppose to be here for Thanksgiving so hopefully we won't be on the list at that time. Covid sucks. I am planning on going up there as soon as I'm able to drive or H can drive me - hopefully in a little over a week.

    Good luck on the offer!  I remember you mentioning the open house was last night, so I'm glad to hear you all liked it.

    There was an open house for a home around the corner from mine on Sat.  They had a lot of pictures in the ad, so we didn't go.  But I'll be keeping a close eye on it!  Not that I want to buy it but, if it sells at or near the list price, that would skyrocket the value of my own house by over 30%.  I've been thinking about getting a new Home Equity Line of Credit next year anyway (long story) and if I could bump up the limit even higher because the comps for my house increased, that would be another good reason to do it.

  • Fingers crossed @MNNEBride

    Well I survived yesterday. It was a super rough day. I’m glad today is Wednesday. I have plans to hike with FSIL tonight and then I hope to pass out relatively early. I got a flat tire yesterday. Luckily they were able to patch it but it was just another stressful thing stacked on top of what already was a super stressful day.

    Oh, and PSA to anyone with income driven student loan payments. I know the recertification deadline is coming up. I checked my emails and saw that Great Lakes had sent me an email saying I was good to go and everything was set for the next year. But I never actually did the application process for this year. So I called yesterday to make sure and the woman told me “oh, that email was sent in error, you never should have gotten that message.” Wtf, were you not going to tell me or send me a recall email? What if I had taken that at face value? So trust student loans to continue to be shitty and make sure you check everything if you have an income based repayment loan.

  • @kvruns fuck those people and their normality. Are you seeing clients? Could they be in your office? No? Wear whatever.

    @charlotte989875 amen!

    @CharmedPam ooh ;) Yeh the mess is horrid - M is a great cook but horrible cleaning after lol

    @short+sassy  we're suppose to get hit with some heavy rain early next week because of Delta. Hopefully it doesn't hit you guys much

    @ILoveBeachMusic a few provinces are like that here. M's aunt lives in British Columbia now and M's cousin lives in our city. They haven't been able to visit in over a year {they try to visit at least 2x a year} and at this rate are thinking of doing RV so they don't have to quarantine because of plane :\

    @MNNEBride Fingers crossed :)
  • We still have quarantine rules here in CT.   @ILoveBeachMusic would they take a negative covid test in advance as reason to not quarantine?    That's one of the provisions allowed here.  If you test negative 72 hours before coming into the state you don't have to quarantine.   Otherwise if you're from one of the 33 states affected or Guam or Puerto Rico you need to quarantine for 14 days or your entire visit.

    DD hasn't mentioned that as an option. We would be essentially self quarantining anyway because we just stay at DD's house. We have been isolated here because of my surgery. DD isn't at all worried about us bringing the infection to them. She is more worried that they won't be able to come here because she would have to self quarantine before returning to work. I will ask her about the test. If they do come here for Thanksgiving they would only be here from Wednesday to Sunday so I don't know if they would be able to have a test on Friday and get the results back in time. So frustrating, because they wouldn't be going anywhere but our house. We don't go out to restaurants (even outside) or anywhere else. H goes to the grocery store every couple of weeks, taking all precautions.
  • @leviosaa urg that is SO SHITTY of them
    That reminds me I need to deal with my loans ....
  • I have a 14 day meal plan in place for after Friday :) We don't need diapers so I'm doing grocery pick up this round. I shouldn't be this happy for meal planning but here we are lol
    Next time I'll go in store since we'll need some halloween candy and diapers {likely no one trick or treating but I'm picking some up in case and putting in bags for safety}

    Our original plan was for BabyKitten to just dress up and visit IL's and my mum for funsies.

    This weekend is Thanksgiving, so I'm making our dinner Saturday and then making waffles on Monday morning - we got a waffle iron 2 weeks ago and I wanna try it :) Give some time between for dishes, etc. I may try to make apple crisp or pumpkin pie. Idk how much BabyKitten will wanna be involved, but I'm gonna try. M will likely be on his computer during then, so if she bails he can see her lol
  • Congrats @MNNEBride

    We’re back to our usual dress code at work....absolute UO but I don’t really mind.  SSDD, just trying to get over the “it feels like Thursday vibes” I’ve been having all day.

    Congrats @MNNEBride! That’s exciting stuff. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
    @short+sassy, an office with a window! Moving on up. You can now literally stare out at the window and day dream.
    @ILoveBeachMusic, I think Indiana is doing better than us (I’m in Illinois, not Chicago though) so I agree with the BS. We (Illinois) should stop pointing fingers.
    and thanks @charlotte989875, I’m rooting for us too.  I mean, by definition, he’s technically a rebound relationship, so I need stories about rebounds that were successful.  Lay them on me! Lol

    Yup.   We nearly encountered that last month but OH is off the list.    Had they been on the list then at the time our kids would have had to miss the first two days of school due to quarantining.

    So I just read an article in from the Tribune. Apparently the Chicago mayor thinks Indiana reopened things too soon and expects a spike. I agree that things were reopened too soon - my county however didn't reopen everything along with the rest of the state. Masks are still mandatory as is social distancing in stores and restaurants. I think we (general) need to live with these kind of precautions for the long haul and hopefully we will be able to return to some semblance of normal. Of course that will necessitate everyone taking precautions not just the "kids that normally do all the work on a project". We can thank the lack of leadership at the top for this mess.
  • Congratulations @MNNEBride!

    I am going to reschedule my riding lesson tomorrow. I didn't ride very well yesterday and my body needs a break so I scheduled a Mani/ pedi and a massage instead, lol.

    DH is going out for dinner with his friends tomorrow so it will just be me and DS for bedtime. I think I will treat myself to a rosé or maybe a G&T.

    @CharmedPam DH was my rebound guy! We had known each other for years but had never dated.
  • S+S - Get H a COVID test!  Those ARE symptoms, they just aren't the fever and cough that are usually top on the list.  In NJ, we can get a test with no symptoms, so I hope that you can get one for H down there with a few symptoms.  But please - get one!  Its better to get it and be negative, than to going out and about unknowingly positive with a few symptoms.  I'm glad you get a desk near a window!

    MNNE - Congrats on the house!

    I will be popping out to BJs on my lunch soon.  Hoping they have everything we need!  They have been out of the allergy pills the last few times and I had to pay an arm and a leg for them elsewhere.

    I also have yoga tonight.  H has a dentist appointment after work and then he will get DD.  I told him to pick up a pizza on their way home, so fingers crossed he does!  I love pizza!
  • It's windy here today!  I thought it was going to rain all day, so I let my rabbit that likes to sit around in the rain loose, but then the sun came out so I brought him back in.  He is weird.
    I had an oddly productive morning before work.  I've started waking up a bit earlier, and it's crazy how much more I can get accomplished.  It might have been that I could call companies earlier instead of on my lunch break and I wasn't put on hold ....

  • @kvruns I had OE meetings every day last week so it meant dressing up 5 days in a row. I haven't done that since December of last year. Wasn't a fan.

    @charlotte989875 We're re-watching Schitt's Creek after DD goes to bed. Still just as funny the second time around

    @CharmedPam DH was my rebound!

    Cold and rainy day here. Finally getting to WFH from home today after going into the office every day last week. Normally Fridays are also WFH days but I have a customer training I need to do at their location. Luckily I can wear jeans when I go there because it's a bunch of dudes my age (mid-30s) that own a CBD manufacturing company.
  • @CharmedPam, supposed bad ju-ju for rebound relationships is definitely overrated!  My dating life before I met my H was usually one long-term relationship to the next one.  Without any or very much dating in between.  Though I usually took about a one-month "relationship break" in between to get myself back in good sorts.  I know you took a decent break after your divorce, so I think you're good there also.

    Now I'm fondly thinking of the opposite, lol.  The one time I did a lot of dating between LTRs was between my last b/f and my H.  That was about an 8-month gap.  Internet dating was becoming more commonplace and I tried it for the first time.  So many choices.  So many men to meet over drinks or dinner.  I felt like Scarlett O'Hara at the BBQ.  It was a great time and I met a lot of cool people, even if we didn't end up together.

  • Thanks, @levioosa about the IDR.  I think I re-certify in the spring right after taxes, but I'll verify. There is no way I could afford my payment without the income driven.

    H's pool table got delivered this morning. He took the morning off to be available for the delivery/set up people, but he really just reminded me of that insurance commercial with the guy checking on the plumber. Like, dude, this guy told you he's been doing this for 23 years. I don't think he needs your help. But we'll probably get to play with it for a little bit after work. Then we have a game at 7 and I'm going to watch the VP debate late. And that means I'm not cooking and ordering wings.

    I hope @Jen4948 is ok with the storm shifting west.

    ETA: I'm team normalizing active wear in the office. Down with business casual!
    Thanks. I'm doing fine but not looking forward to any more bad weather. Right now the sun is out in Houston, although that is of course always subject to change.
  • Congrats @MNNEBride

    What about people who live in IN and work in Chicago @ILoveBeachMusic wonder if that means someone who is an essential worker can't work if they live in IN?

    Yuck @cupcait927 are you doing them in person or virtual? I have a Medicare presentation to give via Zoom this afternoon. The ship has sailed on me looking nice, I'm going to keep a pony tail, throw on some makeup and a nice shirt and keep my yoga pants on
  • @kvruns Last week they were all in person - 5 meetings in 5 days while wearing a mask the entire time. Fortunately the rest of the meetings I have to do will mostly be virtual. I've also had to do so many demos of a software we offer so I feel like every day I at least have to have on a nice top and do my hair/makeup.
  • @kvruns There are exceptions for essential workers and people coming into the city for medical treatment. I don't know what they deem essential workers though.

    It’s hilarious and endearing. I haven’t liked a show this much since Parks & Rec
