    Nope. Our next court date is the 17th of this month.

    @Jstump2, That's so exciting! I have no advice, but I think it's great to be able to fix things to your preference and style instead of sticking with whatever the prior owner liked 5 years ago.

    @climbingwife, Congratulations! The new apartment sounds amazing! Did you move into the city?

    And now one of my neighbors posted on NextDoor comparing the theft of yard signs to rape, so I'm going to spend the remainder of my afternoon sucked into the drama.
  • I'm so sorry, ei!

    Our friends who've been part of our circle for months now came over this weekend.  Their Halloween plans fell through and then we'd invited them over for football yesterday.  We went ToT in one of the big neighborhoods around us.  It was easy to stay in our 'pod' of people.  Bonus, people were handing out liquor.  DH and I did get a little lit on Saturday, lol.

    We've got a zoom with scouts tomorrow, but DH will probably want to watch the returns.  I may watch along with him, but IDK.  I'm not sure I can handle the projections and/or fuckface calling it by like...10pm.

    I think I'm going to make carne asada for dinner tomorrow.  I'm making Italian sausage tortellini soup for dinner tonight and stuffed broccoli cheddar chicken for Wednesday.  All new recipes.  I think it's my defense against this week.

    Not only is election day tomorrow.  It was 6 months yesterday from when we lost mom, it's 2 years today since we lost my grandma (her mom), tomorrow is ALSO the 1 year mark from finding out mom's cancer had come back and was terminal (and all the horrible things that went with all that).   And Wednesday is our 14th anniversary.   All. The. Feels. this week.

  • @climbingwife ugh, i'm sorry the house stuff is dragging out so much.  I hope it all gets settled soon.  Congrats on your new place, did you move into the city?  I've been wondering when we'd hear from you :)
  • Thank you so much for all the advise @short+sassy! somehow my response just got deleted, let me try again. We stand to make 80k profit from the sale of our current home as well as a nest egg we have been saving up for the next house so we should have some cash to work with even minus the down payment on the next house.

    We don't have to have everything done right away but have discussed possibly tackling refinish/installing floors and kitchen right away. Then taking a room by room approach after that. (We have a 2 and 5 year old so don't want to live in a complete construction zone). My husband has a ton of vacation time and could potentially take a month off work without issue. We are definitely not against hiring where it makes sense though!

  • Climbing - Congrats on the new place and being able to start officially moving on from FF.  I'm sure the pup will eventually get used to the elevator!

    MrsConn - Hugs.
  • @ei34 oh I'm sorry to hear :(

    @climbingwife congrats

    @MyNameIsNot wtf about signs ... *face palm*
  • Thank you everyone 💕

    @climbingwife congrats on your new home!
    @mrsconn23 Sending all the hugs
  • @climbingwife Congrats on the new place!  It must be beyond amazing to have space to yourself!  Hopefully your pup gets used to elevators quickly.

    @MyNameIsNot About the signs .... really?  Really?  They have a weird relationship with their signs if it is that traumatic to lose them.  That is some crazy drama.

  • @climbingwife I hope you are on the road to improvement.    I keep thinking about you and hope you and your dog get used to the elevators.   That would be a huge exercise with groceries if you had to take the stairs!

  • Thanks all! I'm just outside the city in NJ.

    I'd been a little quite for a while because I was just so depressed. It was hard to pull myself out of it, but obviously this has helped!
    Know that feeling well. I'm trying not to feel it myself right now. Not that it compares to your situation, but I received several rejections today to job applications.
  • There is a "Foodie" page I follow with a strict "No politics, no Covid" rule...  Someone posted "NOT a Political Post:  What is everyone planning to make for Dinner on Election night?"...  The answers absolutely DID NOT disappoint from "Dusting off 2012 valium" to assorted alcoholic beverages...
