kiki bear

You may have updated while I was gone last week, so maybe I missed this, but how did your doctor's appointment go? Any new news on your rash?

Re: kiki bear

  • Oi, the hives... it's been a mess.  My dr sent me to the allergist.  The allergist said it's probably something to do with my thyroid, her guess is Hashimoto's disease (which is not a big deal).  She sent me back to my doctor, who now wants me to go to an endocrinologist.

So, I'm still bouncing around between doctors, but it's probably my thyroid... which is weird.

  • Don't you hate that? I mean, I guess each specialist is better at their job, but couldn't your normal doctor run the thyroid tests now that they've been identified? That sucks.

I'm still debating on going to the allergist. But right now, my dog and husband are both sick, and I just can't deem my rash important enough to spend more moeny on right now.
  • As my late great father would have said... "Great googley moogley."

I hope you feel better soon, kiki! And you, too GB!
  • It is frustrating.  They've tested a bunch of stuff, which I guess is how they know it's my thyroid, but... my doctor basically admitted it's sort of beyond what she can really treat at this point.  I mean, she pretty much deals with colds and stuff, so...

The amount of money I'm spending is getting ridiculous- my specialist co-pays are awful.  I hope you can get to the allergist eventually!  They haven't "fixed" me yet, but hopefully soon.

  • Yes! Specialist co-pays = ugh!!

So what would be the eventual treatment if it is indeed Hashimoto's disease? Basically a thyroid medication? I hope it's something super simple like that and I hope it's cheap for you to buy!!
  • Thanks manda.

  • Yep, georgia, it's just synthetic thyroid I'd have to take.  I already take it actually, and it's SUPER cheap- $4 at Target :)

  • Oh, good. Has it helped so far?
