Wedding Woes

Terrific Tuesday

Ok maybe not terrific but I’m trying to put some good energy out there!

im thinking about 2021 goals a lot, in the context of 2020 goals having gone no where. I’d like to date more, which will require me actually trying, and I’d like to work on strength and flexibility.

Sorry @STARMOON44, for the double Tuesday post.  I typed it and should have backed out and checked before posting! Anyway - yay dating! Do you have facebook? My friend and I were pretty sucessful with the FB dating app.
Edit:  my 2020 goal was to do my kitchen.  It took till Dec 19th but I did (wont be fully finished till Jan 23rd!).  2021 is use my damn bike that finally came after 3 months!!

“Snow storm” for Chicago and the midwest anyway.  1-4” predicted between tonight & tomorrow.  I just cleaned off my deck and covered my a/c.

I’m looking forward to NYE with the honey.  I pre ordered some chocolate covered strawberries, bananas and apples from edible arrangements and did my research on champagne.  Neither of us are wine/champagne connoisseurs but enjoy a glass so I went with a decent priced sale.  It’s the Veuve Clicquot Yellow.... question, from a non connoisseur, do I chill this?  Lol

  • @CharmedPam Ohhh thanks for the tip I’ll try the FB dating thing.

    DEF chill that champagne
  • I had to start work at 6 today, so my work day feels out of whack.  I hear you for the OT, @mrsconn23 - I'm going to pick up a bunch of it in January and February.  I'm salaried now, so no extra money, but it means I can accrue time off in March (possibly - if things have died down).  I'm planning to use that to fix my bathroom.

I watched The Spy Who Dumped Me last night on Netflix.  I enjoyed it immensely, probably because I love all the actors in it.

  • I'm feeling weird this morning.  IDK why, just kind of light headed and spacey.  I at some beef jerky, cheese, pickles, and drank some Gatorade.  I know it's a weird list, but we have a small convenience food booth and I was like...hm, proteins, electrolytes, and sugar.  This'll work.

Otherwise, SSDD.  One of my attorneys wants to "chat" with me, so now I'm like...crap.  I like this guy personally and as an attorney, but I feel like he gossips.  So, IDK what's going on.
  • And if you're bored, I definitely recommend going down the Hilaria (Hilary?) Baldwin rabbit hole.  It's just so funny and perfectly stupid celebrity fodder.  There's also been some excellent twitter about it all.

Lots of work, which is better than unemployment. But it looks like in order to get a handle on it, I might just have to work through New Year's! Not a problem for me to work, but there's just so much of it!

    Whew.
  • My primary goals for the upcoming year are 1) add another income stream(s).  Probably investing in the stock market, but I need to some major boning up on that.  I've also been wanting to try my hand at buying properties specifically to target renters that want to "rent to own".  Also need to do a lot more research on that.  2) start exercise program.  3) declutter/clean/organize house.

I already have some other financial goals in the works.  I closed on my refinance yesterday and it went by without a hitch.  I feel so FREE!  That short-term, high interest loan I was in has been weighing so heavily on me and stressing me out for most of this year.  My first loan payments aren't due until Feb. 1st., so a little extra breathing room in January.  Which is great because all property taxes for Orleans Parish are due at the end of January, lol.

I'm doing a cash-out refinance for another duplex in mid-Jan.  I'm using the same loan company I used for those duplexes I just refinanced yesterday.  That one will be a big infusion of cash that I'm primarily going to use to pay down my HELOC.  I bought that duplex with "cash" from my HELOC to begin with about 5 years ago.  I should have refinanced it a long time ago to "pay myself back".  Some of it will also go to pay down lingering credit card debt and I have a schedule to pay the rest of the credit card debt down by July.  So much interest savings!!!  It will be so freeing.  I also have a personal loan with the last payment in July.

All of that paying down should skyrocket my credit score.  And then I'm going to move my HELOC to another bank.  Not to get too much in the weeds, but the way my current bank calculates my HELOC minimum payment really screws up my Debt-to-Income, which has been a nightmare and held me back a lot.  It's amazing how such a small mistake in my bank choice years ago, when I opened my HELOC, has had such far reaching and disastrous effects.  But that's okay.  I can only look forward and I will fix it next year.

That's a long story to say that my future is feeling bright and I'm feeling motivated to take it on!

  • We are all so checked out this week. I can barely focus. Of course the annoying boss showed up this morning and was nagging on everything. Look, we are exhausted, understaffed, it is the week between Christmas and New Year’s. Two of my staff members lost family members in the last few days from COVID. Just chill out for a second. We are all doing the best we can with long hours, no staff, no raises or bonuses this year. While you got an 80K bonus and worked from home. So just stfu. Sorry, I’m feeling bitter today.

FSIL A got tested yesterday. I really really don’t think it’s COVID related. It’s pretty obviously a physical response to all of the drama that happened last week and I don’t blame her. I hope it comes back quickly to give her peace of mind. She’s already had it once and she doesn’t want it again.

In other news today Starbucks told me they are discontinuing their ham and cheese egg bites and I’m salty about it. I really need to make some New Year’s goals and a healthy eating plan. I’m just feeling stretched thin. I know that goals and eating healthy and all of that is still important for self care and health, it’s just feeling a little daunting at the moment.

Lol, my 2021 plans are not to make plans because tempting fate.

    ETF words.
  • I’m working today, but it’s me and one other guy on my team. Everyone else is out until next week. He’s finishing up a few loose ends, I’m playing around with some ideas for projects for next year.

Taking a break for a midday run. Really not much else. January is our super busy time so I’m taking it easy until then.

Steam Community no god please no

That sucks!!  I love those things.
  • OMG I do not need another small appliance, but I want that egg bite maker.
  • @mrsconn23 do you own a pressure cooker? They sell silicone molds you can use to make eggbites in them :)

  • Mrs conn that sounds like an amazing gift.

I work tomorrow and specifically have to go with 1 group of kids...we have winter break day camps (as safe and distanced as possible) and there's one little boy who has been struggling and I'm his safe person, apparently (because I talked to him for 45 min about Legos and cats on a day he was upset. I dunno why but he clicked in better after that). He's a challenge in lots of ways.

He's going to be there tomorrow which means I'll shift duties to hang with him a bit. When he needed calm down time last week I took a break from desk work to do a mini project-i probably need another mini project.)

We're planning all night board games for NYE and almost have the Horizon Zero Dawn tabletop figured out

HA!  I was just thinking about that.  I do have a Ninja.  I'll have to go looking for those.
  • @GBCK All night board games is a great idea!  I should do something similar.  I get grouchy and frustrated as the night goes on, so we'd probably stop around 11, but it's something to do!

  • @mrsconn23 the Mrs.Baldwin thing was discussed in one of the expat forums I am in. It certainly is interesting. I am not hating on her beyond the initial eye roll but Americans seem to be the only people who don't claim their home country status. Which is ironic given its "patriotism". Like, you never hear Australians say 'I'm British/German', they are just Australians. But Americans act so tied to countries they have never been to. It's weird. (I know she spent some time in Spain and some of her family currently lives there. Not commenting on her situation specifically, just in general)

NYE is a non-event to me. It is usually over-hyped and I was generally disappointed. Now I just chilled at home and am much happier, lol.
  • I know that free feeling well @short+sassy!  Congrats on it going smoothly

dissaproves or approves @gbck?  It’s all how you look at it!

  • @STARMOON44 that egg bite maker looks great! I really need to make my own instead of spending an obscene amount at Starbucks. I know it’s so much healthier too

What I think is hilarious about this whole thing is that it started because she didn’t get the Amy Schumer joke at all.
  • FSIL A is negative. I knew it but it’s still nice to know.

    Right?!?!  LMAO

I've never really thought much of her one way or another.  Her post pregnancy 'got my body back!' posts that were covered by celeb media always irritated me, but it wasn't anything other people in the realm were doing.  Also, I don't really like Alec Baldwin that much...because all I hear when I look at him is that VM where he called Ireland a 'thoughtless little pig' and it went viral.

But yeah, this is so dumb and ridiculous and the comedy that has come out of it is better than anything Alec has done in his entire career. His turn as Trump on SNL wasn't that great, so IDK why people act like it's his pinnacle or whatever.  He's probably not that far in personality as Orange Fuckface.

I really dislike him (for that, a lot of other things, & he bailed on an NYU speech when I was a student there) but never really cared much about what she did.

Amy Schumer is far funnier than he will ever be.
