Aria bridesmaid dresses?

Anyone used them, put made to wear one in someone elses wedding, went to wedding that had them?

Are they as atrociously ugly in person as they look on the website?

Re: Aria bridesmaid dresses?

  • I didn't know what they were until I googled them.

I haven't looked at them all, but the what the hell fabric is that?

  • I must be looking at the wrong website, because they don't look bad to me.  Just shiny, which I do not care for.  Looks like a shiny taffeta.

  • The designs themselves aren't that bad, it's just the material that boggles my mind.
  • Silk I don't think should be nubby. :hurl:

That gross sheen fabric is only found in bridesmaid dressed and DEB prom gowns.   Thats it.

Im in a wedding next year and the bride wants me to look at the site and tell her what I think and which dresses I like because she wants to use them.  I have absolutely no idea what to say to her.  She's so nice and I don't want to be all "you've got to be f*cking kidding."

  • I feel like an ass asking but east are you married yet? Youre engaged right? When is the wedding? I dont know why I dont know this after this long.
  • They aren't too bad as long as you aren't wearing numbers 127, 108, 102, 110, and 148-144

  • I'd be honest. Sheen like material can be very unforgiving IMO.

  • I am doing Aria bridesmaids dresses and I love them. There are some really atrocious styles, but the ones that my BMs picked out are really pretty to me. They came in last week and I got to see my FSIL's over Christmas and it's gorgeous.
  • And dude. They aren't cheap. What the hell.

  • I work with a girl who had to wear one of those dresses.  It was absolutely terrible.  She had to wear one that was an orangish color and it was one of the worst things I've ever seen.  It was like that fabric you liked in elementary school because from different angles it was different colors.  Not so great when you're a grown woman wearing an ugly overpriced dress that required expensive alternations.

Dear God those are all hideous. The only one that is even close to alright looking (and by 'close', I mean really, really far) is this one, and that's only because it's not covered in tacktastic shimmer fabric. http://www.ariadress.com/Desciptions/Desc161KA.htm
  • East,I don't know if you did this yet but, If you type in Aria Bridesmaids you can see real BMs in the dresses. I just don't like the way the fabric falls.
    image
  • It looks like a stiff, slightly thicker type of fabric. It doesnt hang, it sticks out.

  • IDK, but there is something about them that looks juvenile to me. I don't know if the colors pictured remind me of the prom, or what, but they don't look very refined on whole. A couple of them aren't bad, but for that price it would be a hard pill to swallow if I wasn't the one who had picked it out in the first place.
according to the website, silk shantung, which apparently means nubby silk? Maybe? I dunno.
    Posted by mag920
Silk shantung is a form of natural silk that comes out of China. Real  raw silk is made by silkworms, like a web that they spin, and in the raw form is nubby and supposed to be that way, worms aren't machines. Not outrageously so, but it lends some texture. Anything "silk" that you may own that is perfectly smooth has been refined farther. It is like the difference between sugar cane and table sugar. Same thing, one has been more refined.
  • I used them in my wedding - PIB.  I agree that some of the styles are fug but I really loved the green for spring.  I let my BP pick out the style that they liked best because everyone's body type was so different.
