@short+sassy Yes it sounds like the dog would be dual -trained as a therapy dog but also bomb-sniffing if there were ever an immediate threat to the hospital. There is another hospital nearby that has a similar program. I am curious to hear more about it. We currently have a lab and she is a good girl but nowhere near that level of trained. Lol
The airport ESAs I mentioned didn't have any other "job" then to stay calm and be friendly around groups of people, so they were a variety of breeds and sizes.

I think for dogs with more highly trained skills, whether for bomb/drug sniffing or medical needs, there are only a few breeds that are usually used and they start their training as puppies.  Bigger dogs that are breeds known for their obedience and intelligence.  Like labs and retrievers.

Whenever we see shows that has a dog(s) that are working dogs, we tease our 22 lb. dog Izzy that she's too small and her muzzle is too short to be a REAL working dog.  If she could understand us, I suspect she would look up from the couch and say, "Good!  I don't want to walk around in the snow and save people from avalanches."

Nice, calm weekend. It rained on Saturday, but finally cleared up yesterday and hopefully it will stay like that this week.

I was in an online play on Saturday. Normally, that particular theater group pre-casts the play, but this time we decided just to improv who did which parts, so that made it a fun and unusual experience.

Beyond that, I had a relaxing weekend and am getting back to work this week.
  • What am I doing today other than minimal work?

Planning my master closet with ikea planning tool. Original plan price was almost $600, but I've got it down to $415 :D Which is more doable, BUT we need mattress first. So priorities.

I also have found bathroom paint. I'm kinda down to 2, and I kinda need to see them in person. I hate lock down and curbside can eat it *eye roll*
But at least I'm down to 2 :)
One seems more white, but I want a grey .... so idk.

@MissKittyDanger I am in the same boat as you - I need paint for my bathroom, and curbside is pointless for it.  I need to actually go in and see the paint, especially since the websites don't show the tints.  At least not the website I want to buy it from.  I want to get it at Home Hardware.  May 20th is coming .... unless they extend lockdown, in which case [insert expletive here]!

  • @kerbohl I'm fully anticipating them to make it longer because they're ending it right before long weekend :(
Curbside paint is so hard unless you've seen it before - we're doing Canadian Tire because they have the "ready to roll"

@VarunaTT Glad to hear you had a good weekend after all that stress!  Your accuser sucks, and I hope that this is the end of that.

@MissKittyDanger Yeah, they will DEFINITELY extend it at least another week to encompass the long weekend.  Do they really not think that we don't see this coming?  Also, I apparently don't quality yet for pre-registering for the vaccine, but hubby pre-registered and is waiting for an appointment.  My mom is going in on Wednesday.  If you recall, I mentioned how ridiculous it was that she and my dad registered at the same time and he had his shot like two weeks ago (if not longer - the days bleed in together now).

  • @kerbohl It's Ford. Do you think he really thought about anything?

I qualify May 10th and since M is over 30 but wfh, so he qualifies around 17th :)
You can put your name into pharmacies. I did a couple right by me in case they call last min
  • @VarunaTT I am glad you had a nice weekend. You deserve it.

2 more days of work and then I go back into "retirement" lol. Idk if it is the Ramadan hours adding with having a toddler or just more hormone fun, but I am exhausted. I feel like I need a couple days of 12 hour sleeps to get caught up. But I am naturally a night owl and prone to bedtime procrastination so idk how. Plus I actually have been getting decent amount of hours, ~7.5, so idk. Just tired.
I have a big couple weeks lined up. I am scheduled to get my first shot on the 11th. Then I have to get 2 root canals.(sarcasm) Yay! (/sarcasm) *sobbing* I have only ever had 1 filling before so I am nervous, getting knocked out isn't an option and the dentist kind of, gently, laughed at me for asking. Saying it is an easy procedure, doesn't hurt, yada yada yada... Is this true!?

It depends.  I've had a root canal twice.  They were similar experiences.  Neither one took long.  They didn't knock me out.  Yeah, doctor's offices don't do that unfortunately.  But whatever they gave me, left me feeling like I was only half there (in a good way).  My thoughts were majorly wandering.  There were a couple times I had to remind myself where I was, but it wasn't scary.  Like (in my thoughts), "Where am I? Oh yeah, the dentist."  Then I floated off again.

Once the procedure was over, it was uncomfortable for a a few days.  Maybe a little painful here and there, but more uncomfortable.  Definitely no major pain at any time.

However, according to my friend who is a dental assistant, root canals aren't usually painful, but they can be.  Oftentimes, the nerve for that tooth has also died away.  When that happens, they aren't very painful.  But if the nerve is still active, it can potentially cause pain.

I’m tired lately too, but I accounted for vaccine side effects for that.  Even my hurty hands and toes I’m saying is a vaccine side effect.  Basically any new ailment I encounter cannot be from me aging, it’s the vaccine.

everyone’s pain tolerance is different.  I had some bad canals and some easy ones.  You’ll eat soft foods day 1 for sure, probably day 2.  I didn’t need time off work the next day or anything, but I know people who had taken the next day off too.  I don’t think you’ll need to be knocked out.  Good luck!

  • I had a bad experience with a root cancel @missJeanLouise where it was pretty painful, but I think tooth pain just gets to me more. It was painful for a few days and sore for the rest of the week. Hopefully yours is much better!

I've had root canals - didn't hurt but was... uncomfortable?.  For me it's the vibrations and sounds.  Have them give you headphones.

My root canal wasn't bad. It wasn't pleasant but could have been worse. My jaw was the worst part about it afterwards, but that's because my jaw kinda sucks and any dentist appt it hurts because being forced open for awhile is not ok.
