Anything new for you?

Re: Totally new on TUESDAY

  • That’s tough @kvruns- did you know about this before today?
  • Nothing new really, the weather is getting better and we’ve had all the windows open- it just feels better this way!

    We talked a ton about weekend plans and H is trying really hard to plan things for Mother’s Day and is asking what I want to do. What I really want to do is not make any decisions about what we’re doing.
    Literally tell him this. Lol sounds redundant but it would encourage him to do something - also you can tell him what you don't want. {gives better idea}

    We found out Friday, so they've been furiously calling clients to personally let them know before the official news hit. It is a firm we've been a partner with for years, they're sort of an industry giant and we have been a participating member so utilizing some services before and partner relationships. They acquire a lot of groups like ours throughout the country

    I told M to get me a card and add a little note/card for when things open that he'll pay for me to see an RMT

    I managed to get a closet idea sorted through ikea, and I'm down to 2 paint colours - I think I know which I'll go with but I want to see what they look like in person. Tbh the other could be a potential accent colour somewhere ....
    Anyways that's where my brain is at - home stuff.

    Weird question, how do those with kids set what's lunch and what's snack stuff? Do you store them separately so they can't get?
    Half thinking of summer when she's home, but also pre-thinking for next year school - this is a good prep of what school will be like {lunch, snacks etc}

    The loss of a contract job because the company doesn't want to pay me ... although it would happily have published my work.

    We've been really trying to keep these things essentially the same.  When we're home with him all day we try to actually sit down for snacks and eat a lot of the same foods.  So we might give him cheese/crackers/fruit for a snack one day, and another day, that's lunch. We do have some pouches and puffs and stuff, but we do those for both snacks and meals sometimes. So we just keep all "his" food with the rest of our food in the pantry.  He knows where it is, but we don't give it to him if it's not actual snack/meal time.

    Also, this is somewhat related but I highly recommend "Kids Eat in Color" on instagram.

    Yeh she has full access to her snacks here - pouches and fruit bars {bear paw, granola bar, nutrigrain bar, etc} Minus fridge only because she can't open it yet.

    I know daycare does cheese and crackers as snack also - we often have that as part of lunch. Lunch some days at home is deli meat, cottage cheese, fruit and crackers

    I may start taking the crackers out of lunch

    About to head out for my 2nd Pfizer.

    We have a planning meeting for Scouts tonight.  I don't wanna.

    I made our Mother's Day brunch reservations because the restaurant we're going to has mimosa towers and I was sold.  Other than that, I've told DH I'm doing jack on Sunday.  I've put shit in the Amazon cart and told him some local ideas that I'm interested in.

    DH already has his Father's Day gift because that mofo can't let me surprise him.  He's been wanting a Samsung watch and I was gonna get him one.  I was planning to buy it this week because I had some Best  Buy rewards certs.  Well, he tried to buy one yesterday. I had to call him to stop him and told him he was ruining my life. LMAO

    So he better do something decent for Mother's Day.

    SSDD otherwise.
    I felt off a good 14 hours after my shot.  Had I not known it was the vaccine I would have suspected Lyme disease.   Hope you feel OK tonight!

    @kvruns was it a national brokerage that acquired your company?

    @MissKittyDanger I also recommend Kids Eat in Color. DD isn't at the point yet where she can get her own snacks or meals, but we typically have crackers, puffs, yogurt, pouches and cheese sticks for snacks and aren't included with meals (unless she eats her whole meal and wants more).

    Rainy Tuesday here. I have so many little projects to get through, plus I have one client that I know is setting me up to fail and I have to send them an email today letting them know more bad news. Not looking forward to this.

    No idea what H has planned for me for Mother's Day. Most likely nothing. He is going to treat me to a massage of my choosing after we get back from vacation in a few weeks so that's something. Saturday we're going to try and visit both of our moms so I can have Sunday to myself.
  • @kvruns, good luck!  I hope your job isn't affected.

    @charlotte989875, I just realized it will be your first Mother's Day!  Fun!  Hopefully your H figures out something great, himself, lol.

    My incompetent mortgage servicing company (MSC) strikes again, lol.  Same company that mixed up my insurance information for two different loans with two different people a couple months ago.  And have the wrong property tax amount for one loan (still working on that).  I was recently e-mailed notices from my insurance companies that my hazard and flood insurance for a particular property are coming up for renewal in June.  I contacted MSC to make sure they had received those notices also.

    They told me they didn't receive the renewal for my hazard insurance, but had sent a payment of $1,519 to them in April.  Ummm, okay.  And WHY did you all send them money in April?  You just said you didn't receive the renewal yet and that was two months early.  I had to end the call and told them I would call them back to try and figure that one out.

    Coincidentally, when I got home from work.  There was a check in the mail from that insurance company.  For $1,519, smh.  Just like I thought!  MSC randomly and erroneously sent the annual payment for my hazard insurance before the renewal was issued, so the insurance company sent the money back to me.  Now I need to contact MSC to see what they want me to do.  Because that insurance payment still needs to be made by June.  I think it's easiest for me to just pay it directly, but they might say something different.

    As an aside, I HATE escrows.  For exactly these reasons.  I would rather rely on myself to it get it done.  Because I handle these tasks a LOT better and then I know that important things, like property taxes and insurance, got paid and got paid at the right time for the right amount.  But, no.  Instead, mortgagers treat me like I'm a 5-year-old who can't be trusted to make these payments.  "That's okay, dear (patting me on the head).  We'll do this for you, so we can make sure it gets paid."  And then they are the ones who screw it up.  This is the 6th time (over all my loans) I've had a problem because of escrowing.

  • @cupcait927 I actually follow her lol! But I may look into this. It's more school age stuff and BK is pretty good at picking good snacks, but making sure she isn't eating snacks that are lunch snacks vs home snacks.

    I know!  That is what I keep asking myself.  I realize mistakes can happen, even big ones, once in awhile.  But they have had these three loans for less then 6 months and it has already been four major problems.  It's become mind-boggling.

    I wonder if they have any WFH positions that pay better then my current job?  Because they should definitely hire me to get things straightened out, lol.

  • That sucks @kvruns, fx your safe

    The company I used for my plumbing gave me free VIP membership, so I got a free furnace and a.c tune up.  In January they said I needed a new igniter for my furnace, and showed me how bad it was.  $235 for it.  Last Friday, the same guy from that company came out to look at my a/c “for free”.

    My unit was SO old he said.  Motor was going. And I needed a freeon recharge but I use R-22 which is out of production and that’s why it’s so high. But he can tell I’m a smart woman and he suggested I just get a new unit altogether and when can he set up an appointment for his people to come out and talk to me about that new unit? And can he do the freeon and coil clean today. For $724.20.  With my VIP discount.

    So I called my regular furnace/air guy and had him come out for an inspection last night.  1/2 a lb of freeon (was quoted “up to” 3 pounds) and coil clean with service call was $216.  Plus he said, sure, my unit was old but everything was pretty tight with it and running well. Nothing about a $695 new motor was mentioned.  I’m going to squeeze at least another Summer out of it.

    Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, well... you don’t get to fool me twice.

    Edit words
    Good for you, Pam!  I'm glad you had someone else at hand, to give a second opinion.

    Though that is true R-22 freon is out of production.  Don't quote me on this, but I think a/c units that use R-22 freon are no longer allowed to be produced because they aren't energy efficient enough.  So that type of freon is no longer being produced either.  Though all of that happened a couple years ago.  I guess companies still have the R-22 freon, on hand.

    But a day will come, probably sooner than later, when you can't get R-22 freon anymore and will need to replace that unit.  Getting through this summer and the next doesn't sound unreasonable, though!

    I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! I work for a boutique broker that, unless something changes drastically in the ownership, we'll never be acquired by one of the big players. There's actually a job listing for NFP that keeps coming up for me on LinkedIn.
  • My body just absolutely tried to revolt on me and it's totally my fault. I've got to start paying attention to eating.  I didn't eat breakfast, have ingested...a bit of coffee (I was up late last night with friends) and then took my vitamins/meds.  My body told me NO.  We have a small snack kitchen so I grabbed some jerky and cheese and I'm feeling better already.

    I'm going to have a CTJ talk with my boss on our Thursday meeting.  I nearly shouted at him this morning.  He's been pretty bad for about a year with follow up/through and work in general, but we're hitting a pretty low point where now he's not even reviewing/ signing documents promptly.  It's a problem.

    Otherwise, SSDD.  I have a 3 pound tenderloin at home that I'm trying to figure out what to do with.  I think I'm going to cook it up and take half to my parents.  I love pork tenderloin, but I don't think I love it enough to eat 3lbs.  One of the few curses of grocery delivery.

  • @VarunaTT I often like it stir fried.  It's delicious with a mustard roast and potatoes but yeah - 3 lbs for one person will go slowly.  Last year I was gifted a vacuum sealer and while I think the thing is overkill for the cost I'd portion that tenderloin and freeze some if you can't think of what to do.

    It's kiddo practice/try out today and day 1 of FREEDOM!  Both kids are back in school for the day.  Hooray!

    DH and I had a talk yesterday where I impressed again the need to address behaviors around vaccination and masking LONG before BIL visits w/ the family this summer.  He hates confrontation and I hope it sunk in where I told him how important we feel this is and we remember how things hit the ceiling before FIL retired and I do NOT want a repeat of that shit storm.

    I was surprised by it because they've always chosen to stay independent. I think it happened because we've lost out on some deals where larger companies want a national broker even though we handle national clients just fine. But the owner felt like we needed to go to that next level and I think he's somewhat ready for a change too. It will be interesting to see what changes and what stays the same.

    @cupcait927 I just sent you a DM
  • I got my period today, about 5 days early, so that probably explains why I have been so cranky and tired recently.
    My friend and I postponed our island trip, once again, because of bad weather. Fx Monday isn't raining or too windy. We will take the kids to an art gallery that has a great kids area instead. I hope the exhibit is as good as it looks on Instagram.
    DH is getting on my last nerve today. He called me at least twice from the grocery store and again from the back gate to come let him in instead of driving around to the open gate. I am on my dinner break ffs, leave me alone.
