I was on a ladder for most of it. Part of it was nerve wracking. It turns out that I am fine with heights except for situations that I am not used to. I had to use a ladder to chop down dead branches in my cherry tree, and since I climb trees on the time, no problem! Same with fixing up the eaves trough. But we need to repaint our shutters, and while I was up there it was really freaking me out. By the third shutter I was much better though.
Anyone do anything fun for Mother's Day? My mother thanked me for letting her be a mom. I didn't know how to respond, since technically I didn't have much choice in the matter ....

I am recovering from a FIL who "topped off" my wine by giving me about 8 oz. HOLY MOLY!

Mother's Day was lovely and Chiquita is now at the age where she can help in the kitchen. It was hard to let go of control but really cute that she helped DH and prepared the potatoes we ate.

We found out that SIL does not intend to get vaccinated and we don't know when BIL will. Based on that MIL and FIL know that this is putting our kids at risk and will not ask us to do inside activities with them when they visit this summer. As of now all other activities will have to be outside and luckily we do have a place to do that since we will have the boat in the water and the pool.

Still hoping that DH talks to his brother so there are NO surprises.

Good Morning!

I hope everyone had a nice mother’s day weekend. Friday we ordered pizza and my parents came over with a bottle of wine to celebrate my new job.

Saturday, I met my mom at an outlet mall and we did some shopping. I definitely need to update my work attire as it’s gotten a little lax since the pandemic. I bought my mom a pair of shoes she liked for mother’s day.

Sunday, I got homemade cinnamons rolls, flowers and homemade cards. Also, a promise that a gift is in the mail lol. Then H took took his mom out for lunch and I caught up on cleaning, lol. So I scrubbed toilets and did laundry for most of the afternoon.

I am waiting for my boss to come in this afternoon so I can give my notice!

Saturday I spent a lot of time on my butt. My stupid TV is starting to go out, but I want it to limp along until Father's Day, b/c that's the 2nd biggest TV sale of the year. I'm irritated, I feel like it's closer to 3 than 4 years old and even then, 4 years old in nothing in TV life span. IDK what I did wrong.

I watched all of the new Jupiter's Legacy. I had started the comic when it first came out and liked the story but was meh on the art, so ordered trades through the library. They did a really good job of the story adaptation and the world they created is even better. Highly recommend, it's really a story of family, betrayal, how far someone will push the rules as long as they don't break the big one (don't kill anyone), etc. The superpowers/ hero stuff is really just a motivator to the main arc.

Sunday I cleaned all day. I sent my mom a few long emails, I just couldn't make myself leave the apartment or talk on the phone. She understood. Right now, I can leave my apartment for work, but not much else. If I don't work, I don't leave the apartment. Everything was clean except the kitchen.

Started my new routine today. I wanted to wake up at 5, but I knew it'd be 5:30 and it was. Worked out, showered, did hair/makeup, made coffee, went to work and was here by 7. I didn't make up my bed, but honestly I've never cared about a made up bed. Working late, then headed home to cook dinner and relax. I'm trying to set real identifiable goals rather than just nebulous: be more healthy, work out, budget better. I think I'm doing okay...it's only day 1.

I get some really cute vids of BK. She insists on helping with groceries lately {we are taking FULL advantage of this lol} She will drag bags to the kitchen, and help unpack. M got a great vid of her helping unpack.

Saturday was rainy and cold, so we couldn't really do much.
Sunday was really good. It was sunny and warm. M waited 45min for fancy donuts. Since nothing is open, that's what I wanted. {M is gonna pay for my RMT appt when things open, but he says if he can claim it on insurance then it's not a real gift - I suggested pedicure also lol}

We got outside a bit also. M & I tried to figure out logistics of getting stones for the yard, and we may look into delivery because 15 bags of crushed stone is not easy. M said the jeep could PROBABLY do it but he doesn't wanna chance it in case.

I've also told M we need to get the dryer fixed because I'm tired of some of his shirts needing to be rewashed because they stink. Nothing else does, so it's not the washer. I am doing a cleaning cycle anyways.

Side note, has anyone subscribed to a patreon? Someone I've followed on youtube for years has one and I'm debating it.
Not now, I have some stuff to readjust in my budget.

@MissKittyDanger I have before. It was a musician that K used a lot for drag. It was minimal, but we received some nice benefits and it was nice to feel like we were supporting a smaller artist rather than just taking their stuff off of Youtube. I've considered it for some writers/photographers I really like too, but haven't done it just yet.

@MissKittyDanger, I will watch those tonight if I can remember. Stupid open office! If you sent them on Friday I could gave seen them right away, I was the only one in!

My weekend went really well, albeit not very exciting and dreary weather for most of it. I watched the three part documentary on Lori Arnold’s (Tom Arnold’s sister) life and selling drugs. It was riviting. I really liked it. “Queen of meth” it’s on Discovery+. Probably my top fave streaming service, netlfix included in that (don’t really watch netflix). I also worked a lot of the weekend, since everyone wanted everything in by Monday.

Saturday I got my eyelashes lifted and tinted. I’m on the fence if I’ll do it again. I mean, it gives you a nice natural lash feel, and saves .30 seconds of mascara applying in the morning, but I need a more dramatic look that the mascara gives me. Plus, $90 every 6 weeks (if that) will get pretty old, pretty fast. Mascara ftw once again.

It hasn't been that long since I stopped donating, so I don't think things have changed, so I think pricing/benefits are different for each individual account. The artist I contributed had a $5/month tier level, which wasn't the highest, but wasn't the lowest either. The benefits were what we wanted; I felt like the higher tier was more for a fan than we were. It did mean we didn't get the newest content first, but it was within a month or two and that was fine with us.

Most of the time, I see the accounts with multiple tier ranges and they should tell you what you get in each tier. You just have to pick the tier you're comfortable with and feel has the benefits you like the most. We stayed with monthly, just b/c there was one month we bumped it up to get a specific item we wanted before anyone else.

Weekend was pretty good.

DH got home late on Friday, so I didn't do the running around I wanted to. But that was OK. We watched A Black Lady Sketch show and laughed our asses off.

Saturday, I was up pretty early. I went running around for groceries and Mother's Day stuff. I came home and ended up watching the WeWork documentary on Hulu. It's good. It did take me the whole movie to understand what the hell they did, LOL. FIL came for dinner, which was whatever. DefConn and I watched "Mitchells vs. the Machines" and it was one of the best movie I've seen in awhile. I definitely recommend it.

Sunday, I woke up earlier than the family (just because, not for any reason) and enjoyed a good bit of peace and quiet for about an hour. The weather was shit (cold and rainy). They got me an echo system for the kitchen and bedrooms and Brandi Carlile's memoir "Broken Horses". Plus, a snack box from our fave local farm-to-table store. We went to brunch with my family. My sisters and I exchanged gifts with each other and cleared a 2 bottle 'mimosa tower' (dad, DH, and BIL's helped). We came home and had the laziest, most amazing day. We finally watched Knives Out and continued to day drink. DH and DefConn made a filet dinner. DefConn is happy because he has an echo for his room and can listen to music all the time. I'm happy because I can drop in on him instead of yelling from downstairs.

Yeh there are tiers and the $33 is highest but I like the benefits for it most

H and G let me sleep in until 8:30 yesterday morning!!! It was awesome. Then the boys had 2nd breakfast with me and we spent a lot of time playing outside and hanging out! I took a short nap in the afternoon while the boys went for a walk and then we played outside again in the afternoon. I did want to order mexican for dinner after the babe went to sleep at 7 but apparently tons of restaurants close at 8pm on Sunday in our area. So there wasn't time, and we didnt' want to go super far. So i had a huge bowl of popcorn instead (which is awesome, but it's better when i can have wine!). Overall a really good day

I went home on Friday and crashed. I napped from 2pm-5:30pm. Yikes.

Saturday was really busy. Bank, Sam's club, Harrah's for $10 in slot play and a crystal vase, one gas station audit, and one gas station mystery shop. They are different, lol. I debated picking up a bunch of gas station mystery shops on Sunday. They only take 10 minutes and pay so well. And, unfortunately for this round, they can only be done between 6AM-3PM, so I can only do them on the weekend. But Sundays are the one day of the week I set aside to do nothing. I just couldn't motivate myself to leave the house. Even to make some easy money, lol.

My dog Izzy licked my cheek three times while I was getting up on Sunday morning. She doesn't usually do that, so I'm counting that as her Mother's Day present to me, lol.

I came in 90 minutes late because there was a flash flood warning. I have a couple big things to do today at work, but it should still only take a few hours. Not too bad of a day.

@Casadena Sounds like a glorious mother's day! We ended up getting mexican last night because I did not feel like cooking.

Weekend was lovely. Saturday H and I took DD to visit my mom and my grandma. My sister and nephew also came to my mom's house to see us. DD is still nervous around my family (she sees them far less than H's) but is starting to warm up and interact.

Sunday H let me sleep in as late as I wanted. He and DD got me some lovely gifts, and H got us breakfast pizza. Went to my inlaws house in the afternoon to see my MIL. DD insisted on going outside in the rain and cold so my FIL indulged her and took her outside to run around. She has her papa wrapped around her little finger lol. All in all, quite a nice weekend.

Weekend was good. I spent a chunk of change at the optometrist on Saturday 😭 Of course my prescription changed, again. It’s literally never going to stabilize. Afterwards I met up with my Mom, Aunt, and Grandma and we had lunch. It was really nice to see them even if my Aunt was being intense. I stopped by my grandparent’s house after the lunch and said hi to my Grandpa too. It was bittersweet, you can tell he’s had a lot of cognitive decline. I need to make an effort to see them more often, because honestly I might not have much more time left.

Otherwise weekend was pretty good. Hiked both days and hung out with FSIL yesterday. She finally tried on her wedding dress after putting it off for three weeks because she was afraid it would be too small. Well, she tried it on and it’s almost two sizes too big. So now she’s freaking out about that. I told her we can go and have it exchanged, or potentially alter it. Slightly larger is a better problem to have than too small. The biggest hurdle is the bust, because while she could exchange down two sizes to fit her waist and hips, there’s no way two sizes down would accommodate her boobs, even this size isn’t really doing it. We’re heading to the dress shop after work and then maybe trying to squeeze out a hike afterwards.

Mother’s Day was nice. Kids were super excited to give me their cards from school and the plants they’d picked out at the plant sale that were a big surprise/that I’d been watering all last week when they went to bed. We went to mass, planted the flowers, kids and I went to my parents’ house to celebrate my mom, sisters and me with a pizza party. STBXH gave me a card and told me I was a good mother aka all I’d wanted these past six Mother’s Days.

He’s picking the kids up from school later so I can do a Costco run.

Our moment of sadness was my sister miscarried on Friday into Saturday. It sucks that her first Mother’s Day was shared with sadness. Trying to be as supportive as I can now.

It's free on Amazon Prime. It's a very quirky, but funny, movie. Everyone played their character pretty perfectly.

I had a great weekend. H and MIL left Thursday night for SIL's, so I had the house to myself and didn't have to work. I slept late, cuddled with the pup and watched trash tv. Then of course H came home last night acting like a jerk and harshed my mellow, but he snapped out of it and got some Mexican take out, so it ended well enough.

In light of the DD on the other thread I'd love a reality check from y'all:

With the scenario of an approaching visit from a group that is potentially not vaccinated, do you think DH and I are off base saying that we will need to limit any gatherings to those that can be outside? I have anxiety that people will get stompy but I also welcome the reality check.

That's DH and me. We are both fully vaccinated. DH is out of his two week window (he received the J&J around April 12th) and I will reach the 2 week mark for my 2nd on Thurs. Our kids are too young to be vaccinated and I am not anticipating that Pfizer will have trial results for the 6mo - 11 yo out by the time this visit approaches.

You're more than welcome to make a request, especially since not everyone isn't vaxxed.
We're holding off on BK's bday party until 2 weeks after M gets vaxxed {since he's last} and we've decided to split it - my mum and her bf, MIL and SFIL, BIL and SIL will have option {unknown if they will}
But we'll doing FIL , M's nanny and SMIL at M's nanny's place because they are higher risk and best to be done outdoors {M's nanny has a large yard/deck so easier to distance}

I think you're fine, but I am the same way. Funny enough, my friends and I are debating a Come As You Are (Vaccinated) 90s dance party, though no one has decided if we're brave enough to go through with it. And to get an invite, you have to show the card.

My general rants. Obviously vaccines are working. In the relatively short time we have had them, cases and hospitalizations have dropped so much that even in the stricter states, things have been opening up a lot. And that is with only about one third of the country being fully vaccinated.

And for all the people who don't think masks do anything. I read an amazing stat earlier today.

In the 2019-2020 flu season, there were 38 million cases of the flu. In the 2020-2021 flu season, the flu was almost non-existent. Less then 3,000 cases.

Maybe COVID particles are smaller then flu particles, so that isn't a totally fair comparison. And I know there were other factors involved, in addition to people wearing masks. But still. No sane person can look at a stat like that and seriously say that mask wearing did not help keep COVID infection rates down.
