    I'm in such a mood.
BK being delayed is likely a covid/socialization issue

I'm just .... sad and guilty. I feel this could have been avoided :\

I know it's not my fault ... but it feels like.
Oh I get it, but be gentle with yourself.  She's young enough that there's a ton of time for her to 'catch up' and you now know and will have resources to help her.  Covid has been hard on everyone and kids have definitely taken the brunt of certain situations.  She will be OK because she's got a good mom in you that will advocate and fight for her.  ((hugs))
This.  It’s not just BK.  So many kids had this isolation.  I think in person schooling is so important. I hope in the Fall or late summer when schools open up, Canada looks way better than it does now.

FWIW B is in daycare all day and while he does taking turns and playing etc when he's home all bets are off. He understands those rules and practices at school but other environments are different. I bet in the next year she'll do more playing with others too instead of just parallel play. Meet her where she is and watch her grow

  • Our organization just lost funding and people already got laid off today. I’m guessing me or my manager are next. So we’re back where we started with all the lay off stress from last year. Fuck.

  • Damn @levioosa that’s awful. You had a hard enough week without that.
  • @levioosa, this is not what you need right now! I really hope your safe :(

  • @MissKittyDanger she will get there.

FWIW we went through remedial issues with Chiquito.  He was young for the grade and we decided to enroll him in K as he turned 5.  Flash to March and the kids are home, DH and I are working and we are NOT instructing him.  He was clearly behind the rest of the K class.

We have had a tutor work with him for the last year.  He's back on track and is at grade level.  He needs to get better and the tutor will continue to come to the house but we went from a boy who could not read to a kiddo who's looking at DH's phone set up as our GPS and reading out the addresses from the back seat.

I was talking to DD and a friend of hers about this just  this weekend. With kids the age of yours (BK and my grandsons are just a few weeks apart in age) Covid really hasn't affected them as much as older kids. They don't play with other kids at this age (2-3 year old) as much as have parallel play. So don't beat yourself up about this. It isn't like she would have been in a classroom with a bunch of kids (as would older kids).  She'll be fine. You've caught it early and will take the appropriate steps. My GS twins don't understand taking turns all the time and they have had to do that since birth! 3 year olds are just starting to do that and just starting to play with each other and interact with each other.

I would never think that a rental that required lawn care would provide the mower. Nice but definitely not the norm. Though maybe the thought is having the mower provided makes it more likely they actually mow and don't leave an overgrown lawn
That's exactly it.  Plus, with the exception of one single family house, all my rentals are duplexes.  I typically make one tenant responsible for the front lawn and one tenant responsible for the backyard.  But provide the mower because, otherwise, one tenant would be having to buy the mower that they are sharing with someone else.  Too dicey.

In addition, my typical tenant demographic are lower middle-income folks who live paycheck to paycheck.  Some of them don't even have bank accounts.  Most of them don't have credit cards.  It would be a huge deterrent for new potential tenants to have to pay $200-$400 for a lawnmower or sigh up for a landscaping service, after they just paid first month's rent and the security deposit.

Oh no!!!  I am so sorry to hear that!  That sucks so much.  I know you work yourself to the bone in that job and it's often really stressful.  Especially with the layoffs that happened last year.  Especially with everything you all and the rest of the medical industry went through during the pandemic.  I hope things turn out okay for you, however that plays out.  Like, if you get laid off, maybe you find an even better job.

Continued good luck and good wishes to @Jen4948 on also finding a better job!
