In my city {Ottawa, ON} you cannot eat an ice cream while walking down Bank Street on Sunday
There were a lot of ice cream laws! Though the two I remember were for specific cities...
Alabama -- In Little Rock, you can't put an ice cream cone in your pocket.
California -- In Carmel, it was illegal to eat ice cream on the sidewalk. But Clint Eastwood repealed that law when he became mayor in the mid '80s.
CA was another wacky food law disappointment. Really? With all those millions of people and hundreds of cities, that's the best you can do? A food law from one city that was repealed almost 30 years ago. Smh.
It's an entire joke here lol
Sometimes cops will jokingly "be mad" about you eating ice cream on Bank on Sunday lol I use to joke I wanted to do it when I was young because I wanted to rebel but not actually rebel :')
I think you should stay away from movie theatres/cars after eating garlic in any state!
areas here (depends on the city actually) have the only one alcoholic beverage per person law too. There’s some sort of loophole with a bucket of beer though? Anyway, that’s why I asked you to stand next to me with your ID ready, at the bar when were at in GA @short+sassy! i’m used to the “one drink per person” rule.
So I came here to discuss a disgusting new trend I’m seeing. I’m in a LOT of halloween and horror facebook pages and two times today, I saw pro photoshoots of “best friends burying a body” set up. Like, it’s becoming a thing because these shoots were entirely unrelated. You have the girls with weapons, dragging a body bag, diggin up dirt, all have blood all over them. And then they celebrate with drinks or food together. It’s a “I just killed my husband/ex and me and my bestie burried him”.
Ya’ll know me, I love gore and horror and blood and guts. But this type of thing does not sit well with me. And like 95% of the comments are “omg I gotta do this!” “This is fab!” “So and so you in?”. I saw ONE comment saying this didnt sit well with them. And I agreed.
Lets turn the tables and showcase two men doing this photoshoot?
Edit to add: I’m almost certain that these life like pictures violate FB code so I’m probably seeing them before they get shut down… but it’s to late. I already know this is a new trend.
In Louisiana, we go more by the "laws of physics". You can buy as many drinks as you think you can carry back to your table, lol.
I guess I shouldn't speak for the whole state. They get really uptight in the north and west. But there are no limits in Orleans or the surrounding parishes (counties).
In regards to the fake "killing of an ex" trend, it does sound disturbing. I think the difference between that and the general "joke" gore of a haunted house or Halloween costume is that the trend is a "joke" threat of violent murder against a very specific person.
I think the same scenario, but with opposite genders, would feel a lot more horrifying to people. Because that IS real life in our society.
Out of curiosity, I looked up how much more likely it is for a woman to be murdered by her SO vs. a man to be murdered by their SO. In general, about 77% of murder victims are men. So men are much more likely to be murdered than women. But when you drill down to people that are specifically murdered by a romantic partner (of the opposite gender) women are killed over twice as often by their SO as compared to men.
I still can't remember the blue laws here in CT. 20 years ago you couldn't get alcohol on the 4th of July if it was a Saturday.
I do know that the rules at the Indian reservation casinos are so strict that if you aren't aware your waitress will take your half drink when she gets you your second because you can't have two in front of you and we started to go to the casino often enough (it was literally the closest place to go out for a year) that we recognized the liquor commissioner.

Up till last year we had this law on ANY 4th of July. I remember because I was disappointed I couldn’t get any on the 4th last year when I tried. My Dad told me of the old saying “get your fifth on the third for the fourth”.

I love that! The one my dad taught me is "if you have a fifth on the fourth you won't come forth on the fifth."
That's weird on the photo trend @CharmedPam Like I've heard people talk about best friends saying they'll help hide the body, like in a joking way but never taken to the level of a photo shoot that is weird!
One of the largest evangelical churches in our area (and state) and one of the biggest covid deniers (and holder of at least 2 super spreader events) just stood up with the city and asked people to get vaccinations.
I hope this makes a difference. FAR too much of the horrible Republicans and Religious Right has absolutely been part of the devastation here. I'm going to take this as a win.
