Wedding Woes

Thirsty Thursday

As in I need to drink a lot of water, not bar specials like it meant when I was in college.

I’m ready for the weekend. Work is still super busy, I was contacted by a recruiter I might actually meet with just to see what their openings and offers are like. The rain finally stopped though and the sun is out!!

Re: Thirsty Thursday

  • I forget @banana468 but are you all finally getting to take your Disney trip?
  • I'm in list making mode.
    M is home with BK next week. We're potty training so instead of him thinking about some stuff or not really know what I purchased for when we're doing this {popsicles, juice, etc}
Could M sort through what I purchased? Yes. Is it worth it? Maybe. But honestly I'd rather him focus on potty training.

I also did purchase BK some cute tops because she'll be bottomless. That way she has something to enjoy. TBH I think she'll be in a decent spot by weekend after about wearing undies.
    I'm also making a list of things I wanna accomplish while M & I are on holidays - some stuff it'll be he starts, and I finish. {like sorting through boxes, etc}

I'm hoping our spare room will be cleared up enough I can really mop in there. I'm debating on a new mop, so we'll see anyways.

Who has a good mop they like?

My H was laid off from his job.  Yep, the brand new one, smh.  They closed one of their locations...all the employees could work at either one...and laid off about half the staff.  It was an okay job, nothing great.  So it isn't as much of a disappointment as it sounds.  He had an interview on Monday to be a bicycle tour guide.  It's not necessarily a done deal, but they implied they would hire him once he gets his license (you need a license to be a tour guide in Orleans Parish).  I've been encouraging him for years to get a tour guide license, because I think it is a job he would really enjoy and be great at, so now he is finally doing it.

It is a part company pay, part tip type of jobs.  I've heard they pay fairly well for the time involved, but they aren't usually f/t.  I've told him he still needs to look for a f/t job, especially since we don't know how much he'll make on a weekly basis.

It's been a hectic last couple of weeks, but I finally have some downtime today and into the foreseeable future, so I'm starting to feel more relaxed.  I am really tired and half falling asleep, though,  I can't wait for this day to be over and I'm glad the weekend is almost here.

Edited:  Talked to my H again.  They DID speak a little in the interview as to how much money is made.  The company pays minimum wage, but said tour tips are typically around $100 per 2-3 hour tour.  I told him it looked to me like there were better paying companies out there.  One of the Craig's list tour guide jobs advertised they pay their guides $25/hour.  And, with tips, it's about $50/hour.  Of course, I always take what companies say about "commissions/tips/whatever" with a major grain of salt.

  • I'm on for the college kind of Thirsty Thursday. I am trying to train someone on a report and it's making me stabby. The actual report is not the problem, but he's being so helpless about basic access things. Dude, I'm not going to put in your access tickets for you! (I say that, but I've already two for him because I'm tired of telling him how to do it.) I need to get better letting people sink or swim.

Nothing else going on. Sun is out and it's nice here today too. I wish I had a friend with a pool that would invite me over today.
  • Have fun on your trip @banana468 I hope you are able to relax enough to enjoy it.

It is Eid next week so DH will be home all week. My gym is closed, my riding trainer is taking the week off... I basically have nothing to do next week. I will go to the mall and pick up some stuff for our trip, which is in just over 2 Weeks!! I know I should be making lists or something but, I guess it just doesn't feel real yet.
  • Planning for my trip in exactly 4 weeks and thinking I’ll “need” 5 dif sunscreens and 7 dresses. Just bringing a carry on sized tote bag so think I’m going to do a trial packing run this weekend to force myself to get realistic.
  • Where are you going @STARMOON44?
  • Where are you going @STARMOON44?
    Croatia
Ohhhh that's right! I remember now. I hope you and your friends have the most amazing time!
  • Oooh how long on Croatia?  Do you know of the old army trick of rolling up your outfits together (some even secure the rolls with rubber bands) to save room @STARMOON44?

Tonight is The Purge after work and then a walmart pick up after that.  I’m super exciting these days.

  • My lunch hour just started, so I'll post Prudie since it isn't up yet.  Give me a moment.

10 days! Yes, I roll nearly everything, and trying out packing cubes this time.
  • @STARMOON44 will be interested to know how you like the packing cubes. I've contemplated those for our overseas trips.

Getting ready to head to DS1's tomorrow morning. Laundry and ironing in process. I also just ordered our next stock up of olive oil. I also signed up for our Y fund raising event for next month. We usually buy a table and invite friends so I was doing that and sending out the invites to friends.

  • @ILoveBeachMusic we use packing cubes and love them. They help keep things very organized and help me avoid over packing. (I am the champion of throwing in 1 more sweater/skirt/heel)
  • I have 3 sets of cubes (one reg and two compression) that I intend to use for my stuff and the kids things.
  • @mrsconn23 i bought one of those bamboo blankets you recommended!  Curious if you actually hang dry it or throw it in the dryer anyway even though it says to line dry?  Just curious.

We're all doing well here!  Hope everyone has a great time on upcoming vacations!

    SSDD at work.

Firefighter continues to text.  He had to cancel last night b/c the convention went until past 9 and, as he pointed out, he'd been up late Monday and Tuesday.  **blushing**.  Y'all, why am I meeting a man who actually does seem to fit my laundry list of "if I would ever date a man again" and he lives on the other side of the country so I can't even get the fun of finding out?!  ETA:  I'm definitely having a Thirsty Thursday.

Also, I've never dated someone else who was bi, and TBH, that has been great conversation for me and he said he enjoyed it too.  It was nice not have to come out as having possibly maybe enjoyed attraction/sex to/with multiple genders and deal with someone seeing it as a threat and actually just understanding it.

Otherwise, is anyone else watching Loki.  Holy hell, that ending.  Also, I love seeing Jonathon Majors in another major role.  He's such an amazing actor.
  • We just finished Loki last night! How can you only have 6 episodes?! But yeah, waiting for season 2.
  • DS2 and I watched episodes 1-5 of Loki last weekend (he had already watched them). I didn't watch #6 last night. Maybe I'll get that done tonight. Really like it though and yeah only 6 episodes!?

  • Today was bad boss day. He wasted so much time lecturing me about how to use Excel because an assignment was taking longer than he wanted. He thought I could just cut and paste, but no, it's more complicated than that. He talks at me which I HATE.

Tonight ought to be calming at least.
  • Excited for the weekend - I don't have plans, just ready for the week to be over.  I have vacation next week - excited to do some camping!  I hope the rain stops, but even if it does, I've got books!  It will be fun to get some camping in again.  I missed it last year.

  • @MissKittyDanger I'm a bit late, but congrats on passing your exam and happy birthday!
