Prudie Day!

Happy Thursday friends! It’s my Friday because I’m taking tomorrow off, I can’t wait!

Also it’s cool and sunny and not sweltering hot. Even though it’s wildly busy at work I’m feeling good today!

Re: Prudie Day!

  • @charlotte989875 extended weekend! Exciting :)

I was so friggen tired yesterday. Idk what it is, but it feels like this week is dragging.

BK had an accident at dinner. We're not sure if she told us after, during or JUUUUST before she peed. Regardless she did and we had to clean up her seat, and we did commend her for telling us - but we gotta work on timing.

    Hoping for a better day.

    Woohoo! Enjoy your day off!

the weather is perfect here right now.  Will probably escape for a walk later on.
I don’t know what it is, but give me a coupon and I have to use it.  Ulta had a $15 off $50 for me, prestige included so I HAD to use it. Usually it’s $3.50 off $15, no prestige.  I picked up some i.t. cosmetics cc cream.  It’s ok.  Every foundation I’ve tried in the last year or so has just been “ok”.  I’ve tried a lot. I’m looking for the holy grail and I haven’t come across it yet. This has 50 spf so it’ll be my summer one, but I feel like every foundation I’ve tried just accentuates my large pores.  And I need coverup because of uneven skin tone, rosacea, sun spots etc. The top rated right now is makiage, and I wasn’t blown away by that either:

  • Enjoy your day off!

Thankfully the haze from the fires out west has finally cleared a bit. Looks like the next few days are going to be good weather, so that's nice. I'm just already ready for this day to be over.
  • Good morning.  I had a nice day off with DefConn yesterday.  We did some running around and I had therapy for the first time in 3 months (there was a scheduling snafu that messed up our ability to connect).

DH is meeting with old co-workers for dinner tonight. The next couple days are going to be hectic...actually the next few weeks with a bunch stuff coming up.

    Prudie coming up.
  • @climbingsingle, it's incredible that fires 3,000 miles away were causing such a dark, smoky haze on the East coast!

My H is taking our cat, Maple Bar, to the vet today.  Sorry for the TMI, but her stool has been soft (and sometimes uncontrollable) for a few days and hasn't gotten better.  She doesn't seem to be feeling bad, though.  She's an energetic fluff ball and hasn't slowed down a bit.  She stalks everything, usually inanimate objects.  It's hilarious.  But her favorite "interactive toy" to stalk is the dog.

Unfortunately, our regular vet is on vacation.  He's semi-retired and travels A LOT.  I'm jealous, lol.  It seems like every time we try to book an appointment, we hear an outgoing message that the office will be closed until X date.  Normally, it's for routine stuff, so it's NBD to wait until he's back in town.  But, this time, we are too worried to wait and have to use a new vet.  That I'm sure will be a lot more expensive also.  Oh well.  I'm just glad we didn't run into the "all vets are slammed right now" problem that other parts of the country seem to be facing.

Other than that, it should be a pretty chill day and I'm excited the week is almost over.

We had an impromptu chat session with my next door tenant, who is also a friend.  That was a lot of fun.  He is crazy busy all the time, so we rarely have a chance to catch up.

  • Is it the weekend yet?  Mold is high here again and the wildfire smoke is passing through.  That is one concern of mine in this move, but hell, I'm going to have allergies where ever I go, so it's just learning to deal with it.  I shouldn't have mold though, so that's good.

Put in a few job apps and am buying the stuff for the certification I need to start working on.  Stripped my budget down further to start paying off/saving monies (keeping my movie pass though).  I went and talked to a good friend last night who is originally from CA and has moved cross country many times.  We had just sat down and he said, "So what city is it going to be?"  I just looked at him and he was like, "You have never fit in here and it's getting worse and you've realized you don't have to stay.  You're in your 40s, not married, not with children, educated, and queer, you're a walking rebel in this city.  It's amazing you've made it this long."  I simply adore him and he's always so good for my ego and is good at questioning things to make me think w/o seeming unsupportive.  Gave me some good advice and leads to start looking into and is putting out feelers for me in the area too.

Otherwise, SSDD at work and life.
  • Good Morning.  I had trouble staying asleep last night and took some extra meds to help.  As a result, I have brain fog this morning and could very easily crawl back in bed.  Caffeine is helping but I'm still drowsy - ick.

@CharmedPam - This product keeps coming up in my Pinterest.  It might be an option. Or something like what you are looking for.

DH and I went with my Mom to a Bluegrass jam last night.  It's at a local restaurant so we had dinner and listened.  It was fun.  It's held weekly and I can see us going again but we will go later next time.

Weather is hot and humid here.  Wild Fire smoke has led to much haziness in the past few days but is better today.  It's nice to see some sun finally.

It's a little slower at work today so looking forward to Prudie!

  • @VarunaTT, I'd bet your allergies will be better in CA because of the lower humidity.  I never had allergies when I lived there, though I was much further south and west then where you will be.  But I've developed allergies that affect my skin, here in Louisiana.  I think it might be the South, as a whole.  The moment I get off a plane somewhere else, the "itchiness" is immediately gone.  For my recent trip to GA, it was better, but didn't totally disappear like it does when I travel outside the South.

People usually don't have allergies where they grow up - their immune system handles it. When people go to different places that is when allergies can appear (I know Varunna is from Missouri so there is that). I never had allergies until I moved from NC to IN. It took about 5 years before my system reached its threshold. I was working for an allergist at the time. She told me people usually develop allergies here by the time they have lived here 5 years. When I go "home" to the south, my allergies disappear. Ponds and cars can be covered with pollen and it doesn't phase me. Mold may be a bit different and a drier climate will help keep that at bay.
  • @VarunaTT Your friend really gets you. That’s awesome! I have my movie pass activated again but I don’t see any great movies out. Boss baby maybe.  No on Black Widow.

@MNNEBride, lol I have that too! It’s ok.  The best thing about it, is the sponge.

I know I need to work on skin care, and pay attention to my pores but I really do have a lot of stuff, and none of it is cheap.  Just can’t find any pore “closing” stuff.  They say you can’t actually.  Close pores. But you can apparently minimize the look.  Nothing I have found yet.

I'm not originally from MO, but I've lived here most of my life.  When I lived in NM, I didn't have them at all that I can remember.  My friends who live there said the tree pollen tortures them and I've been randomly checking the allergens there to see what they have.  I think I'll still have some, but mold has really been bothering me the last few years and I don't even see it tracked there.

Black Widow was AWESOME, though!  I'm more afraid we're going to get shut down again when the better movies start flowing through other places finally.  I want to see Old and the new Escape Room.  I still haven't seen F9 either.
  • Obsessed with your pics @levioosa
Is that one of y'all?  Because you guys are too cute.  Hawaii is the shit.

Hawaii looks amazing @levioosa, welcome back! You guys did look super cute! Sorry about FBIL, but it looks like just about everyone in that fam is also on your side? Did you know the dog surfer or did you have to take a pic of that because… well, who ever sees that?
but seriously! Hawaii just got bumped up on my bucket list.

  • @levioosa, I'm so glad you had fun in HI (despite the FBIL).  You and your FI look so cute together and the scenery pics are amazing and perfect timing.  I get a Travelzoo e-mail a few times a week that has travel deals in it.  They rarely have anything good for HI, but they have some half-price hotel deals right now, so I was already daydreaming about a potential trip next year, lol.

I'm need to talk to my H about it, but am going to make reservations over the next few days.  I can cancel them up to within one day of check-in, so I figured there is no harm in getting the hotel booked!

  • Thanks everyone!

@mrsconn23 yes that’s me and FI. Posting here for the first picture ever lol.

@CharmedPam everyone was mad about FBIL B but how much they’ll cut him out (I know they won’t), I doubt. I hope FFIL tells him not to come to Yosemite. FSIL told her dad she didn’t think it was a good idea for FBIL B to come. He’s no longer welcome in my home but I can’t control family trips or event invites other than avoiding them and I’m not giving up Yosemite because he’s a giant douchecanoe who may or may not be there.

And yeah, it was a random surfing dog but I couldn’t help myself. I had to take a picture. He was just so cute!

beautiful pix @levioosa What island were you on?
  • Dogs are MUCH better surfers than people are, lol.  It helps when you're lower to the ground and have four feet.  But the bonus for us is they do look so adorable, out on the water and having fun along with us.

    Happy early birthday @charlotte989875
Hope Maple Bar feels better soon @short+sassy  and can I say I always love your cats’ names

Very SSDD here.  Found a new scrubbing brush at Target that I think is really going to elevate my bathtub cleaning game. So that kind of day, lol.

LOL that's how I feel about my new norwex window polishing cloth. I cleaned our shower doors today and just felt so accomplished (I hate cleaning those glass doors).
  • @kvruns we were on Oahu.

Oahu is the only one I've been too but I really liked it. We stayed in Ko'Olina so a bit out of the touristy areas which was nice.
