TUESDAY

Too many decisions on Tuesday for me

Re: TUESDAY

  • Hit me with your favorite neutral paint colors. I like gray - I had it in my old house even before it was super trendy - but definitely on the light/neutral side.
  • my fave right now is the light blue/grey.  It WILL turn into 70’s olive green at some point in our lives, we just don’t know when 😝

It feels way later than Tuesday.  Like, how is it only Tuesday? I was supposed to have a doctors appt last night but my doctor called off.  She won’t renew my meds until I see her and I know I need something stronger anyway.  So I’m ducking out for an extended lunch tomorrow.  I have a work call from 1-2 tomorrow. After I say my peace about my department, I’m leaving the call to go to her. It’s my personal pet peeve that places like doctors, dentists, banks, and even orkin are only open till 5! It makes it so hard to get appts in.  The lady on the phone at orkin was like “oh you can only do Saturday’s?” Because M-F the last window is 4-6. “You’re a busy person!”.
No. No, i’m not. I just work from 8-5. And not from home. I’m not one of the lucky ones.

  • It's a huge peeve of mine when offices don't have extended hours.  I'm lucky that I have a job that's fairly flexible.  I am glad that at least the kids' dentist has Saturday hours because it annoys me that they require some things to be done while the kids are in school!

We have Sherwin Williams First Star throughout the house.  It's a cool gray with blue undertones. I like it as it brightens the space and doesn't clash with the oak cabinets, doors and baseboards that were here.

It's my Wednesday.  I have off Friday and Monday morning as this weekend is the big 80th birthday celebration for my Mom.  My sister comes to town on Friday and the big open house party is Sunday afternoon.  Fingers crossed everything goes off without a hitch!

I'm trying not to see results from the Olympics before the events are broadcast in Prime Time.  Not having much luck this year.  Previously, our local news and even the national channels would give a heads up they were going to give results so you could choose not to watch/hear.  Not this time.  It's inevitable  with the time difference I guess.

I'm looking a SW Krypton and Jubilee for the bathroom. Both are cool grey with a greener blue undertone. We painted the old house agreeable grey last year before we moved. I liked that it was a little more balanced between warm and cool, but I probably would have been bored with it longer term.

Nothing much going on here. I'm getting really annoyed with a couple of people at work. I think this guy is trying to do that thing where you pretend to be incompetent so someone will do it for you, and I'm about to call him out.

Agreeable gray - I think that's what I used in my old house, the name sounds very familiar

edit: hmmm maybe not, I just looked it up and it looks more beigy. Who knows!
  • On Sunday night, I had someone at the bar basically pass out standing next to me and fall on me with their entire body weight.  I am bruised from head to toe and they are rough looking bruises.  I think I'm just going to call that night rock bottom and cut out going even the once/week I was going to socialize.  I think everything is physically okay; I worked out this morning and rubbed the big bruises on my upper arms so they don't stiffen up and I have full range of motion.  Really, they're hematomas and they are going to look gross when they drain, presumably down my arm.

This week already feels so long.  I came in at 7 because I have two 4:00 appointments this week that i have to make up time for.  But it just makes the days seem so long.  I am getting my hair cut and new ink though, so they're good appointments.  I'm also hungry, so there's that.  Nothing much else to report, SSDD in my life.
  • @MyNameIsNot and @kvruns, in the real estate investing community, Agreeable Grey by SW is a big fave for both flips and rentals.  I use Behr Dolphin Fin Grey in my rentals.  It has nice color variations throughout the day as sunlight moves and hits it differently.  It also has the perception of slightly changing colors based on the home decor colors around it.

But also don't let a particular brand sway you.  You can walk into Home Depot/Lowe's or any paint store and say, "I want Y brand, with the color of Sherwin Williams Agreeable Grey color."  All of that info/formulations are in whatever monster databases they use.

I used my lunch hour yesterday and then some going down to the Sewerage and Water Board offices.  Their workers at our collapsed sewerage pipe were just going to fix it, though also add in some supports.  Not good enough.  They need to tell me WHY their brand new sewer pipe failed.  Between my H insisting on it at the site and myself chewing the ear off a manager at the main office, they did more investigation.

Turns out, the main sewer pipe...the one that supports the whole block...had a crack in it, smh.  I was just the very unfortunate property owner that had the "symptom" of my sewer pipe collapsing twice in two weeks because of it.

I went out for trivia night when I got off work with one of my neighbor friends.  We used the $30 gift card we won last time for our drinks.  We won second place and got a $20 gift card to use for next time, lol.  We also decided to do a BBQ on Friday.

One of her bar friends joined us and he was so annoying.  He kept lecherously staring at my friend, which was creepy.  But she didn't seem to notice or at least didn't care.  He was also zero help for our team.  ZERO.  He rarely even bothered guessing an answer but, when my friend and I were positive about an answer, he would hem and haw that he wasn't sure.  He was also pretty wasted, so we kept having to repeat the questions for him and he still sometimes didn't understand them.  She's the one who writes the answers and turns in the slips.  She was very patient and good about trying to include him.  Much more patient than I would have been, lol.

  • We painted the majority of our house SW Light French Grey. The guy at SW said it is the most neutral of the greys. We really like it.

Our box of bathroom tile came in for us to check out to see if we like it. We do so we will be going with that. We meet with the designer tomorrow to pick out other stuff. The tile took a lot longer to get in than she thought (probably a month - not bad compared to other things). I have no idea how long other things will take. I'm hoping the bathroom will get done before the holidays but I don't know how realistic that is.

I have an appointment for my eyebrows this afternoon - sorely needed! LOL. Yesterday I went shopping and found cute outfits for all three grandsons for family pictures at the beach. DD found a dress she wants to wear. I just need to tell the rest of the family navy or gray shorts and light colored shirts and DIL whatever she wants to wear in that color way. I don't care if she wears a dress, shorts or summery pants. I'm wearing a beachy dress.
  • DH's office is in an area of sustained transmission.  I'm waiting for them to have some issuing of mask mandates and vaccine mandates as their only client (Navy) is going to mandate their employees get it.
  • I'm not surprised about Cuomo. Hopefully he'll now be removed soon.

I believe my office will be reinstating mask wearing probably this week. The only good thing is that I can now turn down all these weirdo sales reps and brokers that want to come into my office to meet.

We had to go back to wearing masks in common areas in my office, since yesterday.  But that was because the city implemented a mask mandate last Friday.

In fact, my company sent a text blast to us on Saturday to bring a mask on Monday and wear it when you entered the building and in common areas.

Edited to add:  But, otherwise, I don't think they'd care.  There was a group of people who never work masks in common areas and nothing was said to them.  This company will never require vaccinations or a weekly test unless you're vaccinated.  Definitely not the "corporate culture".

  • My employer issued universal mask mandate yesterday for those on campus, whether or not in patient care.  I'm off-campus but will wear one when I go out in public.

  • We never stopped wearing masks (makes sense—it’s healthcare). I’m just waiting for everything to lock down and I’m hoping desperately that Yosemite doesn’t get canceled. It’s camping so social distancing would be more than possible. Ugh.

  • I'm still wearing my mask.  I'm double vaxed at this point, but I'm not broadcasting it so I don't expect people to assume if they see me mask-less.  If wearing a mask will put people at ease at the same time as trying to reduce the delta variant, I'll keep wearing it.  It's got to be hard for people who have to wear them for extended periods though - the longest I've ever had to wear my mask was like four hours.  The perks of working at home and not ever going out.

I'll be honest and say that I "get" that it was super hot and gross to wear a mask outside in Disney.

But I'll take being double vaxxed and having to wear a mask in crowds if it meant coming home and testing negative.
