Wedding Woes

Dreary Monday

Not just the weather.  Back to reality here - home from vacation and STBXH is acting like a total asshat again. Ugh.  Wishing everyone else a sunnier day!

    Sorry he’s acting like that @ei34.  Vacations ending suck big time :( Life should just be one big vacation. Lol.
    it’s cold and rainy here, so dreary weather wise here too.
    I didn’t do much this weekend.  I used the hot tub every day and I have a feeling it could be an addiction for me. I love hot tubs!! I also don’t think my neighbors can see me with all the shrubbery in my back yard, so I’m going to buy some bathing suits I never had the courage to buy before, because I always had to buy them for public use.  Lol.
    I also spent a good portion of my time food prepping. I hate it.  It sucks.  But I had high blood pressure at my doctors visit last week and I contributed that to going out to eat every day for lunch.  So, no restaurant food till I get that down (I’ve been monitoring it, and it has been slowly going down).

  • Back from vaca and it's hot a.f!
    Weather panned out fine while I was off. I think only Thursday was a really hot day?

    BK is basically trained. She will hold it until diaper, and poops are still not happening in potty but we know the holding until diaper will stop when she's in preschool because my mum won't be doing naps {she's swapping to "quiet time" and if she falls asleep, that's fine}

    Anyways, we got into such a good habit.
    Wake up. Have breakfast/coffee and watch a show. Then go get dressed and BK would play at her water table for awhile.
    A couple days we needed to hop in the bath because dirty a.f, but overall great. Thursday that was how I got her inside.

    Friday I got my hair cut. BK went to my mum's - she actually left her pool to use potty. Which was impressive :)

    I miss vaca already lmao
  • I woke up mad today and it's not getting any better. We had to call an ambulance for our elderly neighbor last night. (Nothing devastating, but she needed to go to the ER.) Most of the nearby hospitals are full and diverting patients, so they took a bit to figure out where they were taking her. I knew the hospitals were struggling, but it's so much worse than I thought. Even the children's hospital is full. The children's hospital, because assholes won't get vaccinated or wear a mask. I hate people.

    Otherwise, nothing much going on. It was a pretty chill weekend and it should be a smooth week.
  • DH's grandmother's health took a turn over the weekend and sadly we're now just waiting for a call.  I asked DH if he wanted to go and visit her but he's fine that he saw her in May and we'll leave it at that.

    Aside from that craptacular news Saturday we did get out on the boat and had a great ride.  We need to use it more but it would be nice if the weather cooperated.

    Sunday was a gross dreary day and I did a ton of laundry.  Kids are starting to go through their play area.  We have been talking about getting the kids loft beds with desks, moving Chiquita's current bed to the play area and revamping the play area.  To do that will mean a massive toy purge.  I'm half tempted to get a dumpster.
  • @mrsconn23 missed mom board drama, what happened?

    @MyNameIsNot I heard hospitals in the states are getting bad again :( hopefully not for long. Glad neighbor wasn't anything serious

    @banana468 sorry for your H's grandma :(

    Just looked. Oh wow!
    I find some people who you think are okay with LGBTQ+ are actually not.
    Girl I grew up with, her dad is mtf trans. Her daughter is now non binary. She posted something mocking about "how people can't figure out what gender they are"

    She's not as accepting as people would figure she'd be.
  • That’s got to be so frustrating @MyNameIsNot.  We’re back to the overcrowded hospitals, which means going back a phase in the future for sure.
    @banana468 sorry to hear about DH’s grandmother
    @short+sassy, this hot tub is great for my muscles.  I have used it to jump in after my workouts - plus I do some stretching in there which is easier on my joints.  Glad you finally got your laptop! I may have to get another one.  Best Buy has the best prices you say? I got one from walmart last year, while in lockdown and zooming a ton. I was carrying it to my bedroom and it dropped to the floor.  It still works, but the screen has a black mass on the left corner. I can’t tell you how mad I was at that.  I do less zooming and just wondering if I need a new new one at all then?

  • I’m sorry about STBXH @ei34

    Lol @CharmedPam. But I’m all seriousness, if you’re looking for decently priced and cute suits, I took a risk on Cupshe and I actually liked almost all of the suits I got. And the ones I didn’t like were a me problem, not the suit.

    Sending your family comfort @banana468

    Weekend was okay for the most part. We did a draining hike on Saturday (it’s just so damn hot), and then FSIL A and her H came over. Of course she’s talking to FBIL B again despite everything he’s done. She was upset she feels like she can’t tell me about him. I told her I’m done with him and if she wants to continue engaging that’s her choice, but we can’t keep letting him derail everything. He still kind of derailed our evening and he wasn’t even there. Like no, just because he’s family we don’t have to put up with the toxic bs. I’m glad FI and I are on the same page. It’s just painful to watch FSIL get continually pulled in and the manipulation and guilt tripping is off the charts. I wish showing someone how to set healthy boundaries was easier. Ugh. But she’s an adult and will make her own decisions. I’ve said my peace and all we can do is have our own boundaries.

    Otherwise weekend was good. I grilled steak on Saturday for the first time in forever and it was delicious. Then yesterday FI and I basically spudded around and then had a little date night at home. It was really nice and a good way to end the weekend. Back at work today and just waiting until I can go home to sleep. My Physical Therapy eval is tomorrow and I’m trying to gear up for all of the early mornings that might be in my future.

    I wouldn't normally think Best Buy is the cheapest place to go for laptops.  But that's how it turned out, at least for what I wanted.  The exact same laptop on Amazon was about $100 more.  Costco had great prices also.

    Graduated licensing here.
    G1 - written {can get before 16}
    G2 - road test {has restrictions - less restrictions as they're more age related as you can get this the day you turn 16}
    Full G - no restrictions
  • @charlotte989875 he's as cute as a button!

    Ugh - DH's coworker left the office to WFH for the rest of the week because he had a confirmed exposure over the weekend.  The coworker is vaccinated but he's DH's cubemate.  I'm crossing my fingers that H is fine.
  • Ugh @banana468.  These breakthrough cases are so nerve-wracking since littles can't get the vax yet.

    DH has had an incredibly busy day so far.  His interview went well and they want a 3rd interview tomorrow afternoon.  He has 1st interview in the morning.  And his current job is going nuts for a lot of reasons.  He may have walked into a shitstorm when he went in this afternoon (he worked at home for the morning).

    YES.  Between the two kiddos and the pending funeral I'm not excited.  It's already going to be sad but there's going to be a lot of people, I don't know that I can "just not go" and so many people won't be vaccinated due to age or choice.
  • @missJeanLouise also my face around penguins ;) cutie!
  • Thanks everyone, he’s the sweetest little guy!

    That's great!  Glad you could get an appointment.  I sort of hope you have a bit of snow - I hear they are more lenient when you have to drive your test in crappy weather.

    I've heard mixed about crappy weather. I kinda hope so too as I'm a fairly anxious/cautious driver lol

    For my driving test, they didn't make you parallel park between two cars.  But they did make you pull up to a curb and then back up in a straight line.  I sucked at that, even though I had practiced it.  Quite frankly, that's still my weakest driving skill, lol.

    I did that maneuver when directed to during my test.  The tester told me I had veered off too much and to try it again (s**t!).  So I did.  It was better the second time, though still not great.  He told me something like, "Well. That was good enough.  But you should work on that more."  Lol.  I actually hadn't been worried about passing, until that moment.  But did end up passing, so yay.
