Wedding Woes

We've made it to THURSDAY!

Last day of the week for me, woohoo!!

I freaking bashed my elbow on a store shelf yesterday.  I broke the same elbow about 20 years ago, so a bash like that takes a couple days to stop hurting.  Urgh.   At least I stopped carrying all that tension in my jaw, LOL.

Work is delivering lunch today.  I need to start packing on my lunch break. It's going to be cold tomorrow and Saturday.  DH is sad panda about it, but I'm secretly happy. I love cooler weather for camping.  JEANS AND BOOTS!

DH's uncle from San Fran came in for the weekend.  I can't wait to hang out with him.  He's an amazing cook and making dinner for tomorrow night.

Prudie coming up.  There's a great wedding related one right off the bat.  Wahoo!

  • Hey NY/NJ/PA friends- you all okay?

I’m also wearing jeans and boots @mrsconn23 and it’s glorious!!

ETA: thanks for the shopping help, I’m going to hold off because while I love a good sale I’m going to wait to see what the fall colors are like!
  • The HR person here that I dislike is from LA (state).  She's standing at the coffee machine, talking about the hurricanes she's lived through.  That's fine.  Then she starts going on about how people live in mobile homes and she just doesn't understand b/c it's such a risk, blah, blah, blah.  In my head, I'm like...b/c they're poor, you idiot.  Not everyone has an option of buying/renting safer places.  I didn't want to wade into a "your blind spot is showing" conversation before 9 am though, so I just seethed at the machine until my coffee was finished and walked away.

Work both jobs today.  Nothing else big on the horizon.  Just dealing with work BS, all day, every day.

Oh, I got my new boots last night.  I really like them and think they'll work.  The new dress should be here tonight!  I'm so glad for this 3 day weekend (which I didn't realize until yesterday was here) and then I'm off next Friday and weekend from both jobs, so I should finally get some rest in.
  • Jeans and boots! Yeeees!
@VarunaTT some people just don’t get it!
hope everyone still in the path of Ida is ok.  I texted my ex In laws/friends from NJ and NY but it may be to early yet.

i feel bad for Chicago pride parade go-ers.  It was canceled last year for obvious reasons, but then the Covid numbers went down this spring, so they just postponed this years from Summer to October.  Then BAM.  Numbers are bad again so it was canceled.  In hindsight, they probably should have kept it in June.  We should have done ALL THE THINGS IN JUNE!  Argh, I don’t know if I mentioned this before, but covid sucks.

  • I was not on the ball enough for pants. Cool weather snuck up on us. I did grab BK pants and a sweater to send to daycare at least lol
Maybe I should pull out pants for her now lol

Anyways I'm just never ready for cool weather. Like literally never prepared.
Spring? Yes. Let me shed my heavy clothes.
    Fall? Nope. Lmao
  • Enjoy your weekends with cooler weather!  It's not cool enough for jeans and boots in CHI yet but low to mid 70s is at lest comfortable!

My parents are coming tomorrow for the long weekend and the ILs are coming Sunday for little man's baptism. I always feel so weird when my parents and ILs are together, definitely not my favorite but I'm sure it will be nice.

My second appt with a counselor didn't feel as productive yesterday.  I feel like I don't know how to do it right.  I don't think it's a fit problem yet, and I'm going to talk to her about it but if anyone has advice I'm all ears!
  • @short+sassy!!!!  I'm so glad you're BACK!!  <3
  • Good Morning.  Dealing with some stuff at work this week.  Co-irker had a Zoom meeting on their calendar for 11:15 PM - 3:15 AM last night.  We don't have any international clients.  Hmm.

In other news, it's our anniversary today.  15 years, holy cow!  We're taking a dinner cruise on the river Saturday night to celebrate.  We aren't doing gifts but I did order him a silicone ring.  It's been a bad summer for his ring.  He lost his original in June.  It had become loose and he has no idea where he lost it.  We searched and searched and finally put in an insurance claim.  Ordered a new ring and got it two weeks ago.  He had it a week and lost it.  It wasn't loose so I have no idea what happened.

Did you establish any therapy goals in your first session?  Are you making notes, mental or written down, of topics you want to discuss?

I don't plan out my therapy sessions.  I literally talk about what's immediately going on in my life and my feelings about it during my sessions and then my therapist asks me questions and/or validates my feelings.  There are definitely some sessions that feel more productive than others.

If you have a particular set of goals for therapy, I'd definitely recommend a therapy journal or your notes app or whatever where you jot stuff down in the moment to discuss at your next session.
  • Welcome back @short+sassy! Looks like you escaped a lot of damage.  Phew.
@MNNEBride happy anniversary!  Dinner cruise sounds amazing.  I hope one of those rings turn up! How odd.

  • Went on a date last night and wow that was dumb. Walking home in the storm was a mess, and he barely made it home before the subway shut down. My street was a river last night but fortunately I’m on the second floor so no issues. It’s a really particularly lovely day today which feels weird after last night.
  • It's great to hear from you @short+sassy

Kiddos have no school today.  The storm was a doozy last night and some of the roads are flooded, trees down and water was up to the doors of the busses at 4 AM.  It's nothing a few hours won't fix (including whether or not that's our tree or our neighbor's at the end of the driveway) but this was worse than Henri.

Yes to all of this! I had a hard time at first because I didn’t feel like I was going it right. And said that to my therapist! They gave me some tips & helped me along by asking more questions to get me started.
  • So glad you're safe and doing well, @short+sassy!
    Happy Anniversary @MNNEBride!

I'm jealous of y'all with cooler weather, but it's at least nice here today in the low 80s. Hot again by the weekend, though. At least fall is coming. I should buy some new jeans, but I don't understand the current style. Did I really see high waisted baggy and acid washed the other day?

I can't with those.  I will not be wearing any denim that has a paper bag waist or anything that just adds bulk to my mid section. I thought they were jeans for moms in the 80s and now that I'm a mom I do not want them!  What's next?  Huge glasses with rose colored frames?

Yes! But apparently, skinny jeans are now jeans for moms.

I'm going to keep wearing my mid and high rise skinny, cropped flare and straight leg before I wear something that looks like I'm auditioning to be the girlfriend of Alex P Keaton.   I side part my hair too!
    dead lmao

Whatever, I’m going to look back in twenty years and be glad you can still see I have a figure. All of these twenty year olds running around are going to be sad they had such nice figures and squandered them with shapeless jean sacks.
One of the other moms in DD's class was talking about how she wore oversized flannels, per the style in high school, "back when I had the best body of my life."
  • I wear bootcut jeans.  The modern bellbottom. Always have:  Always will.
Hope the date went well @STARMOON44.  Glad you’re ok with all the flooding happening.

Awww thanks. He’s a very nice man who I need to never ever ever see again.
Oh the weeding.  I hate that about dating.

  • Glad you're okay @short+sassy!
