How was the weekend?

I don't even want to acknowledge the "M" word for this post's title.

Re: How was the weekend?

  • It’s Monday and we all know it!

  • My weekend wasn't as bad as busy as I thought it would be, so that was good.  Though some of that was due to my own procrastination, lol.

I decided I'm going to take a random vacation day next week, though I haven't decided which day yet.  From the end of my vacation last month until the Thanksgiving holiday is 9 weeks.  That is too much a  no day-off desert and I need a little break!

  • Weekend was decent.
I'm still coughing so M took BK to gymnastics. It's less bark-y so that's good.
We had bank appt but the person had an emerg and had to cancel all appts that day.

We were irked but overall it ended up being fine. We have appt with home depot and it can give us better idea on pricing before walking into the bank.
I suggested to M adding a bit extra because we need to get winter tires this year and we haven't saved enough to get them. But we aren't deciding yet as some factors may be in place before then.

Found out on Thursday that M's current company has been sold off lmao
    Yes. M is cursed.
Entire situation feels like such a copy + paste from last job.
M said he'd be more concerned if he wasn't "one foot out the door" - which he has 3rd {ideally last} interview with new job. This is with CEO I think?

Anyways .... overall weekend was good.
BK opted she wanted to wear her mask today, and then I get a call from preK - she ended up having a rash on her face. It didn't bother her and it wasn't warm, so they kept an eye and after an hour it was gone.
I may have to do a solid wash on her mask. She doesn't wear it often, but I wonder if something was on it. She has fairly sensitive skin, so I wasn't shocked.
  • I had a great weekend. Had a date night dinner out Friday, ran errands on Saturday. Then Sunday was a perfect fall day. It got a little chilly, so we stayed in bed until like 9 cuddling with the dog. We went for a hike in a wooded area near the river and then spent the rest of the afternoon chilling on the deck with a fire until sunset.

Today is far less chill. There are a bunch of workers here, the cat escaped, and I have all the awful calls in the world this morning.
  • 9 weeks with no vaca IS long!
you hear that, America? We need a day off between labor day and Thanksgiving. Who do we have to talk to?
Labor day to thanksgiving here is a month. Then nothing until xmas.
  • Oh no @missJeanLouise will be thinking of you!

I try to wash my masks as much as possible. After 1 day they got tossed in the laundry pile. I just throw them in with my clothes and air dry them.

This.  A mask that's not washed frequently is going to be like putting on dirty undergarments.  That's not going to be great for her face.

My kids have a new mask on daily and they insert filters into them.  Filters are tossed at the end of the day and the masks get washed with clothes in at least warm or possibly hot water.  I  put them in a lingerie bag so the elastics won't stretch out and I dry them on my dry rack with the other stuff.  When they're done I fold them and put them into a basket we have that I try to sort by size.  It's a pain to get the kids to put their dirty ones in the right place but we have plenty.

  • My weekend was good! Had dinner with friends Friday, hibernated Saturday (but also pedicure, solo brunch out, so much laundry and cleaning) and farewell drinks with a friend who is moving to Seattle Sunday evening.

I should be super focused on work today because we are doing a Big Thing, but I’ve got a job interview this afternoon and am distracted. The job sounds great but I’m concerned the pay just isn’t going to be good enough.
  • I wash the kids' and my masks after each use.
@missJeanLouise oh gosh, poor guy.  I'm glad that he officially has a diagnosis and is being treated, I hope he's all better soon.
@climbingsingle what's a hydrafacial?  Without even knowing, it sounds like I need one.

STBXH is being a PITA with a capital "p".  His"that's it, I'm really leaving this time!" are getting so so old.  Just go.  Or don't leave until you legally have to, but stop talking about it.  Other that him weekend was really nice.  We had our first real fall weather yesterday (didn't reach 60) and I celebrated by making the first beef stew of the season.  Currently 53 and I'm here for it.

We leave hers hanging - available for whenever. M & mine are washed and cycled through often {I also prefer to hand wash them} but BK not often, as it's not worn often.
I was recently in my purse {between locations of her wearing} so I wonder if something in my purse was on it?

@ei34 It's sort of like a resurfacing treatment. They use a machine that simultaneously hydrates and extracts and removes dead skin. It's really cool. It's sort of feels like a vacuum on your skin, cleaning our your pores, but there's also serums going into your face as well. I am probably not describing this well. But my 41 year old skin looks amazing today..haha.
  • @missJeanLouise, thinking about you and DS. Poor guy.
  • @missJeanLouise poor bub :( Glad he's feeling better!
  • @climbingsingle that sounds amazing!

Thanks @MyNameIsNot and @ei34. He is doing much better already.

Can you buy a few?  I have several from Zulily, Amazon, Old Navy and Gap and all were in multipacks.  Then you also don't run the risk of a wet one that stops serving its purpose.  I have to send the kids in with an extra in their backpacks for that exact reason.  You never know when there's a water bottle, rainy day or mud puddle problem.

If you keep the mask loose in your purse and not in a separate compartment you are likely exposing it to a lot of loose dust particles and who knows what else.

Hand washing is OK.   Consider that dust mites and other bacteria need to be washed in hot water to be killed.  It's the only temp I use when my kids are sick.

Your daughter is going to start to grow and may need to get used to wearing these.  See if you can find a pack of 5 and keep the one in your purse in a ziplock.
  • Omg @missJeanLouise I’m so glad you took him in. That could have been so dangerous.

Weekend was mixed. I got a “Vampire Facial” aka micro needling with PRP and it did not go how I expected/how it went last time. I don’t know why I reacted this way this time. My face looks brutalized. I was able to visit my grandparents and parents this weekend but that was honestly stressful and sad. My grandmother is now displaying signs of dementia and that’s worrisome. I am just so sad at how everyone is aging. I know it’s a part of life, it’s just hard to see and I feel like everything is falling apart at once. FI and I were at least able to spend some time together and today I’m hiding in my office because my face looks awful and I can’t wear makeup yet.

  • @missJeanLouise, oh no!  I'm sorry to hear your DS had to be admitted to the hospital.  Glad to hear he is already doing much better.  Hopefully he'll be discharged tomorrow.

@ei34, I had my first mug of apple cider for fall, this weekend because it dropped into the high 60s and was almost chilly, lol.  I adult it up with some Crown Royal Apple and a little bit of sugar-free caramel syrup.  Delicious!

I forgot to mention in my earlier post.  I had a weird thing with my Walmart shipped order.  None of it was supposed to come until this Thursday and Friday.  They delivered one item in a walmart plastic bag this last Friday, so obviously it had been hand-delivered.  Except it was one item out of 11 and had a value of $2.40.  Ummm, okay.  That seems like a lot of work for less than 3 bucks, lol.  Then they delivered the rest of the order on Sunday.  Which was definitely great!  But still surprising it was so far off from their original ETD.

  • Big fans of the cider here too!  I picked up a half gallon at the farm where we bought the pumpkins.  I'm a big fan of adding Fireball to it or going old school with the Jim Beam.
  • I love making mulled cider and then spiking it with Jack Daniel’s Winter Jack Tennessee Cider. So good.

We have total 3 - somewhere - for her. We got a pack from Carters earlier this year, but she was solo at daycare and wasn't going into stores, so we haven't needed them until recently.
I need to check if other local places have small ones

  • @levioosa I am glad I didn't google it before we were admitted.
Sorry about your grandmother. It is so hard to see our people aging. Knowing it is normal doesn't make it easier either. 😞
  • Oh no @missJeanLouise, that sounds like an awful weekend and Im gald you got it all checked out!
@climbingsingle. This hydrafacial sounds amazing.  I think you sold it well.  @levioosa I had many prp’s and had the opposite. Looked like nothing was done! Sorry you are going through all that!
@short+sassy, same thing happened with my walmart order.  Needed something and I couldnt add it to my pick up, so did a delivery but to get the $35 min order I needed $4 or something so I threw in an eyelash curler. That tiny eyelash curler came in a large bag! Like… pack it altogether?

  • @CharmedPam my first one looked like nothing had been done at all. This one is terrible. I’m just hoping there’s not any actual damage. The same person did it but this time was actually painful. The numbing cream didn’t take in every area.

  • Weekend was pretty good. We attended a wine tasting that I won at our Y's fundraiser. Saturday, DS2 came home so we went out for Korean food - yummy. Yesterday I drove up to help DD with the boys at a doctor's appointment (all three of them). Unfortunately, they have been passing a cold around and the baby had a slight fever so the appointment had to be rescheduled. One of the twins was tested for Covid because of symptoms and preschool - came back negative so we know it is just the usual siblings sharing colds.
