Anyone here?

I'm getting ready to head to a new hairstylist - finally found a replacement for the one I've been going to since my old one retired. Hopefully I'll make it home before the freezing rain starts. I plan on staying inside for the next two days. Yesterday I almost forgot a friend was coming over in the afternoon. Luckily I remembered and was ready lol. This staying put is messing with my brain. Grandson #3 has a fever and was tested for Covid yesterday. FX test results come back negative today. H and I are suppose to drive up on Saturday so we can watch the boys while the nanny is on vacation next week. Of course, if he is positive we can't go. How are the New England knotties doing digging out from the storm? Everyone stay safe today.

Re: Anyone here?

  • @ILoveBeachMusic was he tested for flu?  When Chiquito had a rough cough and fever in Dec I thought we'd get the dreaded C but it was Flu.  It knocked him out hard for nearly a week.

We're digging out OK but now we're hearing of gross weather tomorrow  and my area could be the ice line which is zero fun.

I need to run out at lunch to get cards for DH's birthday tomorrow and also food for dinner.  We try to make nice meals for each other for birthdays so I am out to look for lamb.

DH seems to be in a funk and I think it may have to do with his birthday.  He's often incredibly gregarious but really wants his private time so I'm doing my best to leave him alone.  He understands that he's grumpy but I have to remind him that it can be hard to read and figure out what he wants for his own or OUR private time if he doesn't use his words.    I'm crossing fingers that my gifts don't suck this year!

After my lunch run, it's mammogram time and I get to have both the regular AND the ultrasound because of my super tiny dense breasts.  Woo hoo!
  • New England sounds like what we had not long ago. It was at least 3 days of digging - 1.5 for our area but we got lucky.

So I got update from my dr about bloodwork before my ultrasound. Could be an answer but dr said to start vitamins and we'll do a follow up.
Apparently my B12 is really low - mine is 119 and should be 200 so I'm picking up vitamins this weekend. I have to get stuff to bring snack for preschool anyways, so 2 birds.
If I'm lucky, Mcd will be open and I'll grab myself a coffee lol

I still have ultrasound next Monday but we'll see how that goes.

Side note - I'm starting to car shop.
Originally I was going new-used because I figured better but low options for prices so I started pricing new.
    Down to 2 options for now {I'm not buying until maybe July?}
    2022 Mitsubishi Mirage
    OR
    2022 Chevy Spark

Will I walk into the dealership expecting either? Maybe.
Will I also look at their stock also? Yes.
Do I know what I want? Yes.
  • I'm here.  The roads this morning are super wet and the temperature keeps dropping. I've told everyone that noon is when I'll decide if I'm staying the whole day or not.  I'm kinda pissed at my employer.  However, the staff here had decided to order pizza; I said, "Hey put [manager] on the email, I bet you they'll pay."  She did.  I don't think she's any happier about the office being open, when literally every other law firm, THE COURTHOUSES OF ALL SURROUNDING COUNTIES, and the state itself has shut down for the next 2 days.  I use my anger as motivation to get the things lined up that I want to for my big move.  It helps.

Otherwise, SSDD.  While I'm not happy to be here, honestly I wouldn't want to be stuck at home either.  I'm pretty tired of being by myself.  I had a small shot of loneliness last night, just missing having someone to snuggle, laugh, and get kisses from.  I also know that I am 100000000000000000000000000% unwilling to do any sort of emotional labor for a romantic relationship, so I'm just fine admitting that I'm a little lonely.

  • Good luck to the Knotties in the path of freezing rain, ice, or snow.

I have a really busy day at work today.  But the silver lining is, because I'm so busy, I'm not doing any more training until tomorrow.

The coworker I'm training is a lovely and teachable person.  But most of my work is solitary and I miss having my work days to myself.  The training won't go on for too much longer, though.  Part of tomorrow.  Monday.  And most of Tuesday.  Then it will just be occasional refresher days.

It's mainly because I'm the only person who prepares steel packages and they want a backup, in case something urgent comes in, if I'm out of the office.  Like my vacation that starts next week.  Or the 10 days I'll be off in June (hopefully) for my Mediterranean cruise that has been cancelled/rescheduled 4x, lol.

Do you have a criteria of what you're wanting?  In looking at the CR reviews for both cars, neither are rated well.   Do you have a CR subscription?  They are a great resource for their automotive testing and ratings (and their track isn't far from me).

    What's CR?

Honestly only criteria I'm not budging on is - automatic transmission, hatchback {trunk} and heated seats

We have a few things pretty reliable here that I've had M looking at but because they're fairly new, there isn't a whole lot of reviews from people.

Next week is CA, right. @short+sassy?

i’m here.  Just came in from round 1 of clearing off my driveway.  I think my area got 5” by 9, and anticipating another 3-4” by 6, when I do round 2. Yay. Even more tomorrow. Double yay.

I couldn’t have said this better myself.  I keep browsing dating app profiles, I hadn’t taken them down since meeting and leaving the last guy, so from time to time I’ll browse, but nothing has really jumped out to me as “yes! He’s the one!” And quite frankly, making small talk seems so tedious right now.
Edit to add: at least you get pizza? Now I want Hawaiian pizza.

  • @climbingsingle what an adorable squish!

@MissKittyDanger CR is Consumer Reports.  I highly recommend them for their ratings of everything.  They test and continue to measure the reliability of tons of cars so you can know what you're getting into before you buy most of the time.
  • Congrats @climbingsingle super exciting! What a cutie.  He’s gonna steal your heart ♥️

  • @banana468 I think we have something either similar or just canadian version with different name. Sounds vaguely like what M has been looking at when I note vehicles
  • I'm here.  No snow in our area, just cold temps.  Thinking of all of you who need to dig out or deal with the ice.

Work is busy but fine for me.  I'm about done with dealing with a co-worker who just isn't happy in their role.  I get it, but either be on the team or move on.  Hearing the same complaints every day from you gets tiring.

  • It started snowing for us about 4am and is just now slowing down but supposed to pickup again this afternoon.  One of us will snowblow at lunchtime if it's still pretty light.

Things are a little tense with H today after our (good, but hard) therapy session last night.  Hopefully he'll be up for talking a little bit tonight.

I hate working from home, but I hate getting dressed and commuting more?  Hard to stay motivated when we're slow.  i just want to read a book by the window and watch the snow all day!!!

@climbingsingle congrats!  Colton is super cute :)

I've signed up to a few, but I think I last about 10 minutes, then kinda freak out and take them down.  The last one I did I had 3 messages in 10 minutes and my entire brain/body was just yelling no. so I just thought, Yeah, you're not ready.  It is also weird that in the year of 2022, I still find lesbians unwilling to date bisexual women.  Like, WTF, my punchcard is DAMN full, so IDK why you're being so difficult that I also enjoy the company of many other genders besides women (and usually just ciswomen lesbians do this BS).  I have other complaints too, so just more reasons to NOT be dipping my toe into the dating world right now.  Honestly, I'm kinda laughing at myself about it all.  This is the longest I've been single since I was 23 years old, it's okay to enjoy by myself time.
  • Lol at punchcard. @VarunaTT, there is nothing wrong with enjoying your own time! Plenty of pluses being single too!

  • @CharmedPam, it's more a vacation in Hawaii.  We will be there for one week.  But, on the way back to NOLA, we're stopping in CA for a few days.  Travel-wise, it makes so much sense.  The time change is against flying from West to East.  We'd have to layover somewhere and most flights from HI-->NOLA require spending the night on the plane or in an airport, even when the flight from HI leaves in the morning.

Of course, it's great to visit my family for no additional cost or travel time!  But another major perk is, by stopping in CA first, we're breaking that long flight up and don't have to sleep on the plane or in an airport.

@climbingsingle, yay new nephew!  Welcome to the world, Colton!
