OOT bags + stress vent + dress fitting (PIP and LONG)

I worked on my out of town bags this weekend, and originally I was thinking I'd put a tag on each bag with the guest's (or couple's name), so that people rooming together would definitely each get a bag. But then I thought that might be difficult for the front desk to deal with. So now I'm thinking I won't label them, and I'll make mostly 2-person bags and a few 1-person bags for the singles. What did you guys do?

Also, I just wanted to vent for a quick minute about how stressful things have been. I used to come on and read the boards once a day or so (this board and the August 2010 board), but lately I've been so busy with ACTUAL wedding planning, I haven't had time

I have a little over three weeks left and I'm getting overwhelmed with all the decisions that I put off because I didn't need to figure them out early - song choices, programs, etc. Plus I want to plan some honeymoon activities. What's really frustrating is the RSVPs! I should have expected to have MIA responses based on other posts, but I was still surprised when I had 40 people missing at my RSVP date. I've whittled it down to 29, but I HAVE to have a final count this Friday so I can figure out how many tables I need so I can let the florist know how many centerpieces. I put FI in charge of contacting his people, and I'm pretty sure he hasn't done a thing yet. I emailed all mine but have only heard back from 1. Everyone has had the STDs for 7 months and invitations for 5 weeks - why aren't they responding??

FI doesn't seem to understand when I explain why I'm stressed, so I thought I'd vent to people who would. Thanks for listening!

On a positive note - I had my dress fitting this weekend! My aunt is my seamstress, and my dress was too big, and she made it fit perfectly! She is adding scalloped lace to the v-neck in the front and back, and that is just pinned on in the photo. I absolutely love it!!

I am so right there with you! I didn't realize we were date twins! I also put some things off and am finally at the stage where I'm giving in and asking for help and letting go some of the ideas/visions I once had so that I don't stress myself out anymore than I already am. I never imagined I would have so much going on in the last month.

Your dress is very pretty! I love the lace! Good luck with the rest of your planning and getting the final count. Hopefully the next few weeks will go smoothly for you.

for the OOT bags-check with the hotel. they all have different requirements for the bags. some want them all the same, no names. others don't mind. i had 2 hotels, one didn't care if there were names on them but the other one did (though, in the end, they ended up not caring bc there were only 2 baskets at that hotel). all of our baskets were for couples, so they were done accordingly. there was one basket that was actually for 3 people (my 2 aunts and my 7 yr old cousin). that basket was larger and had tons more stuff in it. other then that all of the baskets had the same stuff in it.

i had to get on DH about tracking down his responses. i gave him a deadline and told him if he didn't make an effort to track them down and didn't have a confirmation either way that i would mark them as no's and not have a place for them at the wedding, not even if they showed up. he finally called his mom and they worked on it together. i'd say that your number of MIA's is probably pretty average.

i didn't believe it when people said that they didn't remember the month leading up to their wedding and that i prob wouldn't either. the entire 4 weeks leading up to it i kept thinking to myself "i remember what i did last week. i will never forget what i'm doing right now. those people are crazy." but yeah, total blur, remember only bits & pieces. i suppose the mind represses the super stressful parts of the wedding process!

it'll be worth it in the end!!

I did different size OOT baskets based on the number of people in the room. I wouldn't stress over it...whatever you do is nice and certainly not expected.

The absolute easiest way to deal with the RSVP's is to simply call or email and say "Hi, this is Susy. We sent you an invitation for our wedding earlier this month and never heard back. The deadline was last week. Since I didn't hear from you, I assume you're not coming. If you are, please call or email me back by Thursday at 5pm. Thanks!"

People are weird and don't want to give you a no, so they won't do anything and won't even respond sometimes because they are afraid of the awkwardness. I wish they would just RSVP, you know? But chances are, if someone hasn't RSVP'd, they are a "no" or else they really don't care enough either way, in my opinion.

HTH! Don't stress. Just make one call/email to each with the above message and be done!

I didnt even think of different OOT bags..something else to look into!
Your dress is gorgeous and I feel your pain on the not RSVP-ing. I had the same situation wtih my shower and I have a strong feeling its going to happen with my wedding RSVP's also. We'll see.

I did the same OOT bag for everyone-whether there was a single person, couple, or family. I figured it would be much easier for the desk to pass out this way. Good luck on the RSVP's-it is stressful when people don't send it in, or respond when you call or e-mail about it. Try not to worry too much about it though...it'll all come together in the end.

If programs are stressing you out, don't do them. They are nice to have but not needed.

I love your dress! Like Heather, I did the same OOT bags for everyone, as they were not super important to me. As for RSVPs, I think every bride has had to deal with non-responding guests. I like kwynn's approach- quick and simple. GL with everything- it really will all come together in the end and be worth it, I promise!

I'm sorry you're feeling stressed, but FWIW it's completely and totally normal so close to your date! I think every bride gets overwhelmed with those last-minute projects, I know I did.

All our OOT bags were planned to be for 2 people. If there were more in a room, frankly I didn't care, ha!

If this is stressing you out or taking a lot of time, don't worry about it!

I too had late RSVPs- I guess everyone does!- and my mom and FMIL handled all of them for our respective sides. I think kwynn's advice is great.

And your dress looks great!!
