Re: Tuesday?

  • Regarding the weight loss semaglutides, I have a feeling we are going to see a huge shift some time soon on what will be covered for weight management in terms of drugs that were previously for diabetes only. There was a fantastic study done recently with tirzepatide which showed a crazy weight reduction with use with an absolute difference of 11.9-17.8%. Fifty percent of people lost at least 20% which is huge.

I would love to pay for ozempoc (or even tirzepatide when it becomes available), since med spas (where I am at least) can prescribe if they do weight loss as well and have a doctor on staff. One around me had ozempic injections for $75 per injection, which I would definitely try, but my cousin had thyroid cancer and we’re not close enough for me to ask what kind so I’ve just avoided it.

  • I’m really interested in trying this but my understanding is that it’s difficult to access the drug now even if you can get an Rx.

Yeah I went to put my refill in on Friday for it. I usually take it every Thursday night.  It’s STILL out of stock and I’ve never had more than a 2 day wait for a refill before.  Of course I’m getting nervous!
    edit; “it” is ozempic

If this is the same drug I'm thinking of, I read an article about it during my research.  The large scale human trial had amazing results for the largest dose.  But then it was "whomp, whomp", that it wasn't in the market yet.

My friend told me her insurance finally approved the semiglutide - but then said “oh, we’re out of stock for it though”.
And this is why it’s out of stock!

So I’m scrambling for a replacement for it, just contacted my doctor but I have a feeling the switch will be a mess.

  • @short+sassy probably the same trial. It was conducted over a bunch of different countries too
