Tuesday

I read for a few hours last night.  I'm still working on reading all of the Hugo Award winners (it's basically like the Oscars for sci-fi novels) and the one I'm reading right now is so interesting that it's hard to put down.  It's not the easiest read either, so I'm investing some time.

Otherwise, I have my boudoir consultation tonight.  Eek!  I am going to ask that I make the appointment for the shoot after the first of the year, so I can figure out what is coming up in the next job. The new firm is litigation heavy, so I need to make sure I'm not walking into trial prep (which I'm fairly sure based on what Work BFF has told me, I am) and mess up anyone's schedule b/c I need to be in two places at once.  Also getting my brows done today which is looooong overdue.  Otherwise, SSDD.

I hope everyone's kiddos are doing better.  Also, for those with that lingering rough cough, I still recommend that Robitussin Honey.  I'm fairly sure they have a day time one.  That stuff knocked my covid cough out and I never had to touch the prescription cough syrup the doctor gave me.

Re: Tuesday

  • Chiquita's home today after coughing all night.  I'm trying to love her from a distance.
  • I've definitely been hit with something, but it's short lived and I'm already on the upswing.

Still sure it's nasal drip as the ultimate cause, but maybe it triggered something else or maybe my body's just treating is as a virus.

Anyways, yesterday I could not warm up. I needed a shower anyways and put on a hoodie. I slept like crap night before so I was starting to feel it.
I'm 90% sure I had a fever also. But I crashed at 9pm, and about 3am I woke up sweating. Which was a nice change from freezing lol

I bought tea - tetley immuni-tea which is lemon, echinacea & zinc
Warm drinks help break up the nasty-ness at least.

We planned on getting BK Disney on Ice tix but $500 for 3 tix is just a lot this year. M & I both dropped a lot for tires recently and we're not sure she'll sit long enough to pay attention. Sucks but next year.
M said at that price, we'd wanna be sure BK will pay attention. Height of tix is just iffy anyways.
  • People are getting on my last nerve today, but it's me, not other people.  I'm just in a mood where the tiniest things are irking and annoying me.

I'll try to focus on that next week is Thanksgiving and I'll have a short work week.  That always perks me up, lol.

I had really wanted to take advantage of it and go visit a "potential" move-to place.  But I don't emotionally want to and I know I need the break.  I'm feeling a little less guilt on that because it's probably using my time more wisely to get more stuff done around our personal home anyway.

  • We’re getting 5” today. Yesterday a bunch of coworkers said they’d come in if “it wasn’t that bad”. But I didn’t even entertain that idea.  I’m freezing and it’s 70 in here and I’m not putting it up any higher! I got my booster yesterday so of course my arm hurts and every bone in my body is achey (purposely scheduled a Monday night shot for our wfh Tuesday’s).  Ugh.  So glad it’s over though.

@VarunaTT, exciting! Do you have to buy an outfit or do they provide one? Or is this something you’ll find out today?
hope everyone feels better @banana468 and @MissKittyDanger.  I think Disney On Ice can wait when ahe’d appreciate it more.  Do you have social coupon pages like groupon or livingsocial? When the time come again, try them. Sometimes they do events like that.

I've been impressed with how this studio works. They have a private FB group where the photographer shares his portfolio, as well as videos of what types of costumes are really good, what they have in the studio, what they recommend you grab from your own wardrobe and, if you want a specific style, where to buy things from.  All I know is that they have these enormous angel wings that I absolutely want to use.  I was looking through my wardrobe and basically b/c of drag, I have quite a few things I can take to use, so I don't think i'll have to buy anything unless there's a specific look I want.

Oh I forgot about those things!
Yeh I may next year see about even saving codes too
  • Feel better soon Chiquita @banana468
    @Casadena how’s G doing?
@MissKittyDanger boo on the Disney on Ice prices! There was a presale back in Sept but I didn’t jump bc the weekend they’re by us (this coming weekend) is stbxh’s (eyeroll I wonder if he’ll even take the kids). Checked out tix a few days ago but the cheapest seats are $92 each…never mind. It’s an awesome show for younger kids just too much

I have a week with lots going on each day after work, ugh. My least fave. On Tylenol for a headache but it’s not doing a good enough job.
  • DefConn and I are home bound today.  We're both feeling quite 'ugh'.  I thankfully only have one meeting and my team has been relatively quiet today.  He's coughing a lot, so I may go find some of that Robitussin honey if I can get off the couch after work.

DH left for his business trip at 3:30am.  His flight home lands at midnight on Friday.  I hope DefConn and I feel better by the time he's back.
  • G seems to be feeling really good this morning.  Breathing is a little faster and shallower than normal, but coughing is better and no fever, so i'll take it!  He and N were mesmerized by the snow this morning, so hopefully H will take him outside for awhile today!

Aw, sorry that your are feeling rough @MissKittyDanger, and that Chiquita is sick @banana468!  Hopefully everyone feels better soon!
Wish it were later in the week.  It's only Tuesday and it feels like it is dragging.  It's my birthday weekend and I have a tonne of stuff planned (not for my birthday though, it just worked out that way) and I just want to get things done.
Oh yeah!  My WW birthday twin!

Though I can't remember if we have the same birthday or just close.  Mine's on 11/20.

    We do!  Same day!

  • Healthy vibes for all the sickness going around.

I'm not 100% yet but got an adrenaline boost this morning when our power went out during a orientation activity I was leading in Zoom.  All my back-up plans failed me.  Couldn't get my phone hotspot to work, couldn't get car out of garage to drive somewhere else to work.  Power came back on after 30 mins and it was a good lesson in tweaking my plan.  Some days, I'd just sit back and wait for power to be restored, but couldn't do that today.  Lesson learned!

Shit that's cheap! For 3 tix it was over $500 and that's in high seats :(

M said 2024 {because these tix are for March 2023} Between height and just BK in general, it might be worth the wait.

$92 per ticket is not cheap.  Maybe comparatively less but not cheap...I've been to Broadway shows and good concerts for less.  I started taking my kids when they were toddlers, I love them to experience live shows but certainly miss the days of $25 seats!

If I took my family of 4 to see Taylor Swift it could rival my mortgage.

I don’t go to concerts anymore because of this.  I mean, Reba, sure.  But she’s usually under $100.  I’d rather buy something and have something (like clothes or make up, or a new body part lol) than an experience. Musicals/shows are different for me.

I love Dave Matthews Band and am a Warehouse member and his tickets are usually expensive but in the $100 ea range or maybe up to $125.  But I'm not going into the $200 to $600 that her tickets are commanding.

I would also spend $$ to see Foo Fighters - but the more expensive the shows are the more selective I'll be.
  • I just had something similar happen, b/c Hamilton is coming into our city.  The cheap tickets are $96 and that's the worst line sight balcony.  I just refused.  I know what load in/out in that theatre is and Hamilton isn't Les Miserables when it comes to the staging and there's no reason for it to be that expensive.  (I alwys compare the 2 b/c Les Miz also has the spining stage, but it has a far larger presence and staging than Hamilton does).  The seats I usually get are $146.  Just no.  I can watch it on Disney+, thanks.

Yeah - I think I spent nearly $200 ea for the Hamilton tickets and that was for the traveling show - not Broadway.

Broadway seats especially years ago were closer to $400 or more each.  @ei34 can elaborate more but I remember the joke before the theaters closed for Covid was, "Maybe with everyone out of NYC I can actually afford to go and get tickets."

Ours are $177 each :\ in comparison it's cheap lol

If BK was older, I'd splurge because experience is great but at 4 nearly 5 - might be too young.
  • We just bought tickets to see Muse in Anaheim next year. Cheapest tickets were $77 for the most nosebleed of the nosebleed section. We ended up spending almost $500 just on two tickets after the stubhub fees and taxes were said and done. absolutely bonkers.

True! I saw two shows in March 2020

cheap and easy to get good seats
  • We definitely splurged to see Hamilton in Chicago in 2019.  Almost perfect seats and it was SO worth it. The lead was finishing up his run on the traveling tour to take over on Broadway (before COVID shut everything down) and he was excellent. I have never spent that much money on tix for something before and likely never will again.
  • Yeah - Hamilton prices are the way they are because they know they can get them.  I just checked and in late January rear mezzanine seats are $126 ea in NYC.

For a similar time and a theater w/o a rear mezzanine, Lion King tickets are about $140 ea in the mezzanine.  I can get Orchestra seats to Wicked for $110.  Hamilton is just going to be more and they can fill a theater so that's how it'll be.

I want to take our kids to NYC to see a show.   Next year I think we'll do Radio City Christmas but I may look into something else.   The advantage for us is that we can make a day of it and not need a hotel.

Lion King is a hellish load in/out and the costuming is madness.  It deserves to be expensive.  Wicked is also a huge load in/out b/c of some of the special effects they build.

Having worked backstage all through college and some afterwards, I just have opinions on the stage craft and what it's worth.  The most fun show I ever helped with was 42nd Street and the hardest was Les Miz. I think Lion King had the same number of trucks or 1-2 more than Les Miz, which is a 12 truck load in (semi-trucks).  If this was OG Broadway cast, I'd get it, but it's all unionized.  This is just bald faced capitalism and one of my issues with Broadway in general.
  • I was all about the TKTS booth which was half a mile from my first job in my 20s.  And the 2-for-1 weeks in September (after the summer tourist rush) and in January (post-Christmas).  Ugghh Les Mis and Hamilton are two of the best.

I took oldest DD to Frozen on Broadway in 2018 for her fourth birthday.  Planned on taking all three to the Lion King in 2020 but it obviously didn't happen...still hasn't.  But I'd like to soon.  The Radio City rockettes are on the list too, for someday.
  • Raegan gave me the Covid in August. Children......

I'm am trying my hardest to keep her away from the flu and RSV, but it is everywhere.
