Wedding Woes

Thursday

I got aaaalll up in my feels yesterday.  I'm finally starting to feel like a new happy person is living in my skin and my professional life appears to be getting back on track.  It was my new chairs that started it, b/c LOOK AT MY NEW CHAIRS I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

May be an image of indoor

So yeah, it's finally feeling good up in my brain.  I was speaking to one of my close friends and she just said, you seem to have finally been ale to let go of a lot of things that were hurting you and you're reclaiming your space and life finally.  I love seeing it.  So I've basically had happy tears all week.  Had my consult with the boudoir and that shoot isn't until January, so have enough time to settle in to the new job and plan correctly.  I'm just so ready to move on from this place.

  • Love those chairs and the entire space.  It looks like a magazine picture.

DefConn is back to school. I'm working.  I took a decongestant and am now all weird and jittery feeling.  But they're the only things that work when I feel like this.

DH comes home very late tonight.  It's snowing and cold AF.  Blerg.  At least I am cuddled under a blanket.

Prudie coming up.  There's definitely a holiday theme this week.
  • @VarunaTT love the chairs with the rug :) I love orange in spaces, but not mine lmao

@mrsconn23 oh no, did the decongestant have something else in it triggering anxious reaction? My boss can't have some because some have caffeine in them and that makes her anxious/jittery
  • Sinus infection hell
I gave up and stayed home yesterday, and basically slept most of the day.
It was well needed, but the drip is making me lose my voice.

Hot tea. Halls. Gargling. Nasal spray.
I'm also taking benalyn to help break up some phlegm there, but we'll see.

Physically I feel fine, but I sound awful lol

Oh, they always make me feel this way.  I have a love/hate relationship with pseudoephedrine because it's the only thing that staves off sinus infections, but I have to deal with the side-effects that are unpleasant.  However, they are short-lived for the most part.  Once it's out of my system, I am fine.

I get this too- I just assumed this is how everyone felt taking Sudafed!
  • Love your chairs and your happiness.

  • Love love the chairs @VarunaTT
  • @ei34 does that mean if he doesn’t respond by the end of today or tomorrow latest it can default to you and you can’t skip his shenanigans?

I am just exhausted. On Monday I was pretty sure I was developing a UTI. It came full swing yesterday. I went from “I could probably flush this out” to “holy shit” UTI. Luckily I had run a UA and asked a coworker to send me some antibiotics so they were available right when it hit hard, but I’m unhappy about being on so many antibiotics so close together. I’m also on my period which is just an insult to injury.

Otherwise, SSDD. Trying to figure out life plans. Would love to have another three hours of sleep.

I hope you feel better soon @mi@MissKittyDanger

    Your place looks fantastic! @VarunaTT

  • @VarunaTT I love the chairs!  I love the rug, and those shelves are really cool and look very unique when the lighting hits them.

@levioosa Goodness, rough day for you! I hope you feel better soon!

Snow here.  One rabbit did take the time to go out and run around and was happy for about five minutes, and then noped out of there.  I really have to bring in my chairs from outside before the snow wrecks them, and fix my bird netting for the chicken coop before it gets massive tears.

Early day at work today, but it hasn't been too bad.  I don't mind the early early shift every once in a while, though 6am isn't really too terribly early.  4am .... that's pushing it.

  • Chiquita has Flu A.

I'm doing my best to both love her, treat her and avoid her.   We're too late for Tamiflu.

Last year Chiquito had Flu B a week before Christmas.

I feel like I'm jumping up and down grasping for a break and I can't catch it.
  • I’m so sorry @banana468, that really really sucks.
  • but but why did she cancel @CharmedPam? Or rather why did she tell you she was cancelling
  • Oh no @banana468.  I'm so sorry.  Sending healing vibes for Chiquita and also hoping no one else gets sick.  Poor thing.

@CharmedPam, so glad you were able to get your money back! But disappointing and sounds like your sister didn't really have a reason to cancel.

FWIW, I find the commercials for Great Wolf Lodge creepy, lol. Giant, house-sized wolves are scary looking!  I'd be running in the other direction.  Not jumping on them to ride them like a horse.  But it does look like a fun place.

@kerbohl, bunnies in snow are so cute!  But I don't blame the one rabbit for scampering around and having fun for 5 minutes, and then heading back to the warmth.  I woke up to my cat walking on me.  I can't remember the last time she did that!  I attribute it to the weather being colder.

@banana468, I'm sorry to hear about Chiquita!  I hope she's feeling better soon and that her or anybody else's sickness does not interfere with Thanksgiving.

@levioosa, healing vibes to you also!  I hope the UTI clears quickly.

I'm digging the holiday theme.  I would never wish holiday drama on anyone.  But I love reading about it!

  • Ugh @banana468 hope chiquita feels better soon.

@CharmedPam that meme is exactly right.  Kids are disgusting germ bombs
  • @levioosa yes, he has until one week prior for holidays. He doesn’t get to decide next Wednesday that he wants them after all.

    @banana468 for Chiquita

    @short+sassy I like other people’s holiday drama too 😝

    Wendy's new items review:

--Garlic fries--Barely okay.  Would not order again.  I've had garlic fries from a few places.  One of them higher-end fast-food (Smashburger).  The other places gave the fries a garlic flavor with seasoning and tiny bits of garlic.  Wendy's used seasoning (not little bits of garlic) and a "garlic sauce".  But the sauce was pretty much just butter.

It was an okay flavor with a decent, though light, taste of garlic.  But it's served in a flat box, not a fry box, and the bottom fries were soggy from soaking up butter.  It was disgusting just to think about eating them, so I threw the bottom fries away.  And they are NOT cheap either!  It was $3.79 for what amounted to about a medium order of fries.

--Peppermint Frosty--Good, not great.  Might order again.  The biggest negative for the Peppermint Frosty is it didn't have nearly enough peppermint flavor.  Definitely a discernible peppermint taste.  But it tasted more like their vanilla frosty with some peppermint flavor, instead of peppermint mixed in with some vanilla.

I'm thinking about trying it again another day, except mixed with their chocolate Frosty.  But I suspect the stronger chocolate flavor will dilute the peppermint flavor even more and perhaps destroy it all together.

    Edited to add:

I did not order this, but their other new item is an Italian Chicken sandwich or Hamburger.  It has marinara sauce, but it also has a fried mozzarella cheese patty on it.  Like a mozzarella stick, but flat.  That sounded interesting but I just don't think I could hang with a Wendy's marinara sauce.  I assume it's way too sweet.  Like approaching "Chef Boyardee level" sweet.

  • Well she told me Tuesday that her eldest had an ear infection and probably couldn’t swim.  I told her the slide with the tube/wave machine wouldn’t have her submurged in water AND there were plenty of out of water stuff to do (and all with the pass I was going to surprise them with).
my plan was to meet her there, then we’d drop off my car on the way to our parents place, and I could help her with the driving/gas $ (she told me she couldn’t really afford the trip as is).  But my dad told her the lodge to my place to theirs was -1+ hours out of the way.  I said nope.  I googled.  40 minutes was added to mapquest when I plugged the stop in).  Plus, she could give me the wheel for a bit and not worry about the 7 hr drive then.
It got to frustrating for her and she was trying to make the trip the shortest she could.  So it made more sense for both of us to drive to the same place (her 7.15 according to mapquest and me 7.55) so she didn’t have to go 40 minutes out of the way?? And I would have filled her tank and taken some driving off of her! She’s just a “my way or the highway” person.  Her eldest would have been fine white water rafting/mini golf-magiquest etc.

oh, I e-mailed my doctor about my eyelids (I’m wondering if it’s an allergy from recent medication she put me on since a google search (I know I know @levioosa, don’t you love “i searched my symptoms and…”) but the search did say a reaction to it was rash/swollen/red puffy flaky skin  - exactly what I have.  However, the BP meds I started were in April and I got it in Sept so maybe it’s not? I just wanted her thoughts on it. I got an automated response that because of the pediatric care surge happening, they’re behind in answering emails and taking calls. Yikes!!!

  • @CharmedPam sorry about your trip.

@banana468 I hope Chiquita feels better soon. Like half of my sick patients are Influenza A right now.

    image
  • Thanks @levioosa.  Yesterday in her Girl Scout troop there were 2 kids out sick plus her on the way to fall.  There's only 19 kids in the troop and they all go to the same school that has well over 1,000 kids so you do the extrapolation on the population as a whole that is sick.

At this point I'm hoping we keep it to just her and that my family remains symptom free.  She woke up with a sore throat on Sunday and saw my parents so I am hopeful that if they remain symptom free that they're in the clear.

    SIB:

For minor things, I'm not shy about searching for symptoms and it's been helpful more than once and saved me a doctor's visit.  It's also given me ideas to at least discuss with my doctor.

I had a really specific symptom that I felt a little crazy even typing into Google.  I felt like I had a string wrapped around one of my toes on my left foot.  I expected to get zero matching results.  That it was just one of those weird things.  But I was so excited to find a bunch of links for exactly what I described.  Apparently there is a (I think) ligament that runs down to where that specific toe is and, if it gets inflamed, it feels like a string is tied around that toe.  And it's more commonly reported for the left foot, from people who drive stick shift cars with a clutch.  My MINI Cooper is a stick!

Most importantly, it was nothing serious and there wasn't much I could do about it anyway, other than rest it.  Which I wasn't going to do because it wasn't annoying enough for me to temporarily stop driving that car.

  • @short+sassy  is it a chocolate mint frosty? Like mint hot chocolate idea?
  • I'm ready to throw in the towel. I might have pink eye.
BK has had goopy eye so I had M take her to pharmacist. Likely clogged duct, but I likely have it.
If BK has it, I can use same stuff for her but right now deal as if clogged duct until other signs.

On top of that, I have barely a voice. Drip caused irritation like mad :(
  • @short+sassy  is it a chocolate mint frosty? Like mint hot chocolate idea?
The way it is normally served, there is no chocolate in it at all.  It's pretty much their vanilla Frosty with a peppermint flavor added to it.  It is a pink color.

But I assume I could ask them to mix this peppermint frosty with their chocolate frosty, so it does have a mint-chocolate flavor.  However, I suspect the peppermint flavor will be too light to hold up to the chocolate and it will end up just tasting like a chocolate frosty.

If I do experiment, I will let you all know the results, lol.
