Tired Tuesday

Yesterday was a whirlwind, phew.  Hoping for a calmer day today.  About to catch up on the Monday post but how's everyone today?

Re: Tired Tuesday

  • Tired as well. I had to go in for a blood draw so couldn't have coffee until afterwards. That just makes me loopy. I may have jury duty tomorrow so I need to call in this evening to see if I do or not. We have a new justice center in town so I need to figure out where it is. Other than that nothing much.
  • I'm not too bad for a Tuesday. Mostly SSDD.

Work is still weird for a lot of reasons.  I'm hoping answers/clarity on certain stuff comes soon.

Also, BIL moved in over the weekend because he's up here working until SIL and nieces join him and they get a place here.  It's going OK, but it's still going to take some getting used to and I'm sure we'll have 'growing pains' during this time.  I'm hoping it all goes as smoothly as possible.

  • I'm in a weird mental space.  I'm glad that I discovered the words "liminal space" b/c that's definitely where I am, but I want OUT!!  I'm going to have to do the therapy thing, but I'd really like to get the weekly allergy shots finished before I have another appointment during the week to add onto those.  Some of the stuff that is bothering me are just work things I need to re-learn how to handle in a non-toxic manner in this new atmosphere.

Otherwise, SSDD.  Alamo has had the weirdest older movies showing, so I'm going to go see Bloodsport tonight. I am so excited; I LOOOOOVED Jean Claude Van Damme back in the day and all of his movies (I love most action movies).  Tomorrow I'm going to the advanced screening of The Blackening, which I haven't even watched a preview for, but the tagline is so funny, I had to go.  "We can't all die first".  It's a horror movie with an entirely black cast playing off the horror trope that the black character always dies first.  Alamo finally released their restriction of being able to only buy movies 7 days in advance with their pass, so I'm happy about that.
  • I’m so done with work.  I haven’t had a vacation in awhile and it shows.  Next week I’m taking a day off for Ashley McBryde, so it should help but I want a vacation vacation.  Our road tripping group is awesome, don’t get me wrong, but lately we’re doing day trips to help on hotel room costs but at this point I wanna feel like I got away! Lol.

    @charlotte989875, he’s a piece of work!

  • I feel shockingly awake for being up so much in the night. G woke up around 3 with a tummyache and couldn't get comfortable so it was a lot of up and down, snuggle, and drinks of water before he puked all over himself 3 times. Poor buddy. No fever and chipper as ever this morning so he's at school. N's had some pretty epic bedhead and was just the cutest/smiliest dude this morning. Good busy at work this last week or so and i'm ordering chipotle for lunch. Overall a good day so far!
  • @Casadena I often find that when I have a horrible night of sleep I can rally through the day but my post dinner crash hits hard.

Chiquita is looking better on day 2 w/ no dairy.  I think she's morphing into how I am in the morning and I need to get her some Gatorade or another fluid that she'll drink that settles the stomach.

Today's poor kiddo story: she walked out the front door to catch the bus and a minute later walked back inside because a bird pooped on her.  Luckily it hit the hood of her (MY) sweatshirt but it was a quick wardrobe adjustment so she didn't go to school with actual poo on her.
  • @charlotte989875 that’s so annoying. Isn’t that technically harassment? And isn’t there a charge for “misuse of police resources or something” (clearly not a lawyer over here). But I would think showing up with cops when you’re already in litigation is at the very least harassment.

    @VarunaTT that movie sounds hilarious.

@mrsconn23 sending you good vibes for everything you’re going through.

Today is cleaning the house, working out, and doing some work to prep for the week. I feel like I could still sleep four more hours. H has his finals this week and hopefully those go smoothly.

  • @short+sassy the sound I made when I saw the sloth photo! lmao
  • So I'm waiting on TicketMaster to ensure I actually got the VIP passes, but do you guys know Darcy and Jer from tiktok?
    If not, they're funny.

Darcy is a Canadian comedian and I've watched him on Just For Laughs so much.
Anyways they're on tour and I just got tickets!
Front row. And if all goes well, VIP passes so M & I can meet them!

    I'm so excited.

Honestly, I've only ever had FOMO for one concert and that's when BSB came. I regret not getting the tickets very much, so essentially, I refuse to have that happen again.

  • @MissKittyDanger, good luck getting the VIP passes!

My adventures at Barn Hill Preserve in Ethel, LA.

This place was even more amazing than I thought!  My friend and I were both raving about it after our visit.  There weren't a lot of animals, but you could get so close to them and allowed to pet some.

The two unusual enclosures we were allowed into were sloths and kangaroos.  We were allowed to pet the kangaroos!  As long as it was only on their back.  You aren't allowed to pet the sloths or let them touch you, but you could stand next to them

As cute as that sloth is, we met another utterly adorable resident.  Unfortunately, there wasn't a sign on it's cage, but I think it's the Rusty-Spotted cat, which is the world's smallest cat breed.  They are about half the size of a domestic cat.

A staff member warned us not to be fooled by how cute it is, lol.  That this cat is ferocious and will bite you, given half the chance.  There were signs all around it's cage warning to stay at least 2' away and not to put your fingers near the cage.

I have a video where one of the other visitors got too close and that cat jumped onto that cage wall about 7' up and hung on!

But they saved the best for last.  Totally unexpected!  The gift shop was the entrance/exit.  As we were leaving, one of the staff members was holding a really cute baby animal.  We thought it was a kangaroo, but it was a wallaby.  All wrapped in it's pouch blanket!

Then she asked us if we wanted to hold it!  Do I want to hold a 10-month old wallaby?  Are you kidding!  That's a resounding YES!

Our zoo has a kangaroo exhibit. They are walking/hopping freely throughout the exhibit. If they are close enough, you are allowed to pet them on the back. The twins wanted to pet one so badly but couldn't get close enough. People have to stay on the path so the kangaroo has to stop on the path or next to it for it to be petted. It is a great exhibit.

Sounds similar!  That was the same rules for the kangaroo enclosure I was in.  You had to stay on the path and couldn't walk on the grass.  But we were fortunate that some of the kangaroos were hanging out on the path or were close enough to it, to be petted.

They weren't seeking out people, but weren't avoiding them either.  I'm sure they are extra used to people and didn't seem to notice us at all.

It was a really neat experience and I'm glad you all have one at your zoo.  Hopefully your grandsons will be able to pet one next time.

There was also a more typical petting zoo enclosure that had goats, including some small babies.  But it also had one alpaca.  I petted the alpaca (Babs) while she was eating grass.  She lifted her head and turned it around to hiss at me.  "Okay, Babs!  I'm backing off."  Lol.
