I was sick yesterday and stayed home, so I keep thinking it is Tuesday.  Feeling fine today at least.
I can go a whole week and never get a Teams message at work.  But, of course, I got three yesterday, lol.
One of the messages was super weird and I am side-eying the big boss (T).  I'm guessing another employee hit him up for any job openings for the guy's fiancee.  T told this person to talk to me because I might be hiring someone for the Steel Dept. in the near future.
I'm sorry, WHAT?  I have zero authority to create jobs and I've never interviewed or hired someone at this company, lmao.  Though if/when I'm ready for a person to help me, they probably would create an opening because it is something that's been discussed and I know my boss is super nervous that I might be leaving.
I just felt a little thrown under the bus because it came totally out of nowhere and there is no job that exists currently.  Nor do I have any idea when it might exist.  I didn't even know what to reply and left it as vague/general as I could.
And another WFH vent:
Of even need to exist if they will let me WFH after moving.  Unfortunately, that is looking more distant by the day.  Back when I first brought it up months ago, T thought the company would have a WFH policy in place by the end of summer.  But we chatted about a week ago and the impression I got was there has been no progress and it's still a "maybe/someday" thing.  He was really sweating me about my plans, which made me think it's very unlikely to happen anytime soon or possibly "ever".  I was really annoyed with the conversation and I think he was also.
Unfortunately, very par for the course with this company.  They take years to jump on things that most businesses have been doing for eons.  I know they've been "planning" to have WFH options for over 2 years, yet here we are.  And I work on the client's network anyway, which is 100% designed for people to work from anywhere!  I know for a fact the client would much rather I be allowed to WFH than lose me.  I do not understand it.  I think it's just they don't want it to look unfair to other employees or something like that.
