Monday

Is everyone feeling the Super Bowl post-fatigue?

Missouri lost it's mind last night, while I slept.  I'm trying a new sleeping aid that seems to be working well.  I crashed out around 8 and would've gotten up at 5 am, except it was too damn cold.  It took my apartment an hour to get to 68°.  Boo.  It started snowing already.  It had been forecasted for this evening.  It's coming down pretty hard and fast, but we had some weird fake spring days last week, so I don't think it'll stick to the roads.

I was busy this weekend.  Just my regular household stuffs, but it seemed to take the whole dang weekend.  My ulnar nerve has also been irritated and that made everything slower and clumsier, so that's probably why.  I'm having difficulty typing and my grip strength in my right hand is minimal.  This can stop any time now.  Not quite sure what I did to piss it off, I think it's just overuse, but ugh.

My new bed is scheduled to arrive today, but IDK if FedEx will deliver with the weather being like it is.  I was also supposed to go to Mom's to do a few chores for her, but between the weather and my arm (I know what she wants me to do and it involves drilling, which I'm not sure I can do), that might have to wait.  Otherwise, SSDD.

How was everyone else's weekend?

Re: Monday

  • I have a 13 yo daughter who very much fits the demographic down to Swifty pics on the bedroom wall.  So SHE woke up not understanding how she was super awake after 11 and SO tired this morning.

We let the kids stay up to watch the game and it was a nail biter!  There are enough Swifties and people we know with ties to KC so I was happy to see them win.

Weekend was busy!  Saturday Chiquito woke up feeling MUCH better so I can only assume he had something similar to Chiquita with a fast onset fever that fades after 2 days.  Grateful that it was short lived!  He attended the Pinewood Derby and came in 3rd overall in the Pack!  Chiquita entered a car and was the fastest sibling.  Both kids will have trophies soon and the name plates are being engraved.

Saturday night we gratefully dropped the kids off with MIL and FIL and headed to a concert in Port Chester.  The theater was very cool, the musicians were fantastic and DH caught up with a friend from HS who is the sister of one of the performers.    Support the arts people!  Some day you may find yourself attending a performance by people who were from your school.    It was a late arrival home and we got to sleep around 1 AM.

Sunday was church and then I took the kids with me to visit my parents since my mom's birthday was last week and I came home to make soft pretzels and prep for the game.

Today I'm catching up on laundry and am preparing for a snow day likely tomorrow.

Fave commercial I saw was for Cerave with Michael Cera. So funny.
I loved that and the Christopher Walken one!
  • @VarunaTT, I hope your bed comes today!  I saw your other post that it's a gift from your mom.

@charlotte989875, I'm glad you were able to get a run/walk in!  I remember you were hoping your doctor would okay that.

The 49ers are my second favorite team, so I was disappointed they lost.  Though exciting the game went into OT.  I liked there was a piano in the halftime show.  And an odd shaped one that looked like a splotch of red paint.  Fun!  I also liked that it had roller skaters.  It was unique and neat to watch.  I have no idea how people can be that acrobatic with wheels on their feet, lol.

Enjoyed most of the commercials.  The return of the Etrade baby and Budweiser's Clydesdales. Dan Marino's agent must have been working overtime this year.  He was in two totally different commercials, lol.

I don't know what ad agency Temu cheaped out with.  They weren't bad commercials, but boring and lackluster considering it was for the SB and so many of them.  I normally love Judge Judy, but the commercial she was in was weird and off.  If I don't know what your commercial is for in the beginning of it, I don't like it.  Same with that commercial that started with an old JFK campaign ad.  But for I guess one of the other family members that is running for president.

On Friday, I got a strawberry cream cheese king cake made by Brennan's which is a famous restaurant out here.  Usually "strawberry" in king cakes is a like a jam, but this one was more a strawberry cream sauce that reminded me more of yogurt.  I prefer the more traditional version, but this one was pretty good also.

Mardi Gras is tomorrow, which will be a holiday for me.  That also means work is dead today.  Probably at least half the office took a vacation day.  I usually do, but since Mondays are my WFH day anyway that makes it a lot more palatable to hang in there and save my vacation time.  I have some backup work I'm doing, but it's such a chill day.  It's great!

I forgot about the Christopher Walken one.  That was really funny.  That poor guy probably does have people imitate his speech pattern frequently.

  • I’m glad KC won and I only heard of it from fb posts.  Yesterday I was switching from True Detective and Love Is Blind.  They have LiB Sweden and LiB Brazil and they’re really entertaining.  Yesterday I think they put up LiB Japan.  I love the first half.  The concept of meeting someone on personality alone and you don’t get to see their looks, and just talk to people in a closed pod. But the show pushes living together and marriage way too soon.  Brazil’s cameras REALLY went deep into the bedroom on the pre honeymoon.  It’s TV though.  So I get it.  It can’t be “i met my one and now we’re going to go home, live separately, and date for a year”.  Who wants to watch that? Lol.
I had to postpone my tattoo a whole month AND forfeit the superbowl party I was looking so forward to.  Boooo. Damn you colds! (i tested and it’s not covid).

I need to review the half time show and commercials.  I saw the song performances.  Reba was awesome, but I’m biased and she can sing my cars owner manual and I’d say it would be good.

It's to the point that my kids say Foo FIGHTers.

  • The Cerave commercial had me and H cackling.

Uneventful weekend. I cleaned all day on Saturday. Sunday I did a work out class and hike. Then H and I had a little date night and watched True Detective. We didn’t really watch the game at all. H kept an eye on the score and then afterwards we watched the top rated commercials. Honestly only the Cerave one really impressed me.

I have a busy day today. Therapy this morning, then the gym and some errands, followed by getting my hair done for the first time since September, and then I decided to try out getting laser hair removal which I’m excited/dreading.

  • I'm so glad there are lots of y'all watching True Detective this season.  I'm really enjoying it.  It very much reminds me of the first one.  I really love that they kept the cinematography of the first one, but make it fit this season.  All of those overhead shots of the roads all blacked out except the headlights and just snow makes it so creepy.  I'm really enjoying this character from Jodie Foster too, it seems very different for her and she's doing an amazing job.  I totally have a crush on Kali Reis (Evangeline Navarro) and I love those dimple piercings.  Then the overarching story is definitely keeping me interested.

I loved Season 1.  I didn't watch Season 2, b/c it was like they found every actor that I just don't care for and put them in one show.  I need to watch season 3 b/c I really enjoy Marshala Ali and it's set in the Ozarks.  I just kind of forgot about it, until I saw a commercial on Max and started watching season 4.  So, once this season is finished, I'm going back to watch Season 3.  I will never watch season 2.  I can't overcome my dislike of Colin Ferrell enough for that.
  • Yeah I’m still on S1 of True detective and I’m doing other things (phone time) while watching so it’s like really hard to follow for me.  Just put Matthew McConaughey in a tight white shirt and that’s all I need to see. I hate Woody Harleson’s character.

  • I didn't watch any of the Super Bowl. H did though. I understand it was a great game.

Saturday we had friends over. It was fun. Sunday was church and not much else. I've been feeling kind of blah lately. Tired and headachy. Hopefully this will pass sooner rather than later.
