Wedding Woes

Tuesday

I know people hate Tuesday - just getting the ball rolling :)

Re: Tuesday

  • SSDD here. Last night was great - both boys were asleep by 7:15 after a fun day with grandma and grandpa. Leftovers for dinner tonight and hoping for a smooth bedtime again.

    @charlotte989875 I hope M is feeling better!
  • It's the last day of the kids' 4 day weekend.  Chiquita camped last night at a GS lodge and Chiquito is now at a baseball camp inside.  He's rather grumpy that i made him do it but baseball try outs are Sunday.   He's having a fundamental cognitive disconnect that he's not going to improve without the practice and if he wants to play baseball he has to improve.   And....I love him but he's just not that good.  So we'll see how he does when I go get him in an hour!
  • He puked once at school yesterday and has been totally fine ever since! But since he was sick yesterday he couldn’t go in today. So he’s home, full of energy (well mostly he did miss nap yesterday). Thankfully it’s nicer out so we’re going to take a long walk this afternoon!

    Fresh air  helps everyone!
  • YAY for no additional pukes.  The kiddo was a puker when he was younger. DefConn thankfully has an iron stomach.  I haaatteee puke.

I took Friday off for a 4-day weekend.  SIL and oldest niece got into town on Thursday night.  We got walloped with snow on Friday.  It was 6 or so inches in less than 8 hours.  BIL's crazy ass drove up from Cincy with nephews (BFF SIL stayed home for some much needed alone time) and it took him twice as long as it should.  BIL and SIL were out and about and got rear-ended leaving a parking lot.  Craziness abound.  But thankfully everyone was unharmed and made it to our house in one piece.

Saturday, we had the baby reveal party for the kiddo and his GF.  It's a boy.  My older sister came with her family and dad and his GF showed up, which was really comforting.  I was happy to see how many people from the kiddo's GF's side showed up and she seems to have a few friends that have kids.  It made DH and I feel better about the support she has since it's been a question in our minds.

I did have a bit of a couple days long breakdown. Thankfully, I had scheduled therapy for yesterday morning (before I knew we were doing this party this past weekend).  Just a lot of unexpected grief has been stirred up.  I'm working through it, but it really threw me for a loop that I was going to be so emotional.

All of our houseguests departed at some point Sunday and DefConn stayed with FIL Sunday night, so DH and I got a ton of alone time.  We started watching the best, trashiest, cringiest, but you cannot look away show called "Couple to Throuple" on Peacock.  It's so dumb, but we are having the best time making fun of these yay-hoos.

Another show rec, the Brothers Sun on Netflix.  It's a dramadey and so good.  There is a little violence, but not much gore.  Michelle Yeoh plays the mom in the show and the oldest brother is very, very easy on the eyes.  One of the best scenes of the show involves ninjas wearing the blow-up dinosaur costumes and fighting each other.

Back to the worky-work-work this week.  Still busy AF with the 500 things my team has going on.
  • My mom just sent a group text to me, my sister, and her husband's two sons.  It's a pic of a handmade ceramic piece.  Though not too shabby, so probably the work of an older child.

I'm assuming they must have found it somewhere in their house and are trying to determine which one of their "darling children" (her words) it belongs to, lol.

I'm almost positive it is not mine.  Other than play doh and a maybe a little bowl, I don't think I've sculpted anything in my life.  Either way, I have already said I'm not claiming it.

  • @Casadena grandparent visits are so good :)

@short+sassy  M is same. However unfortunately when he gets moving, no one is doing enough. Either way, we end up arguing and I want to chuck things at him.

@banana468 I swear, kids. They don't wanna practice but wanna be good lol
  • Weekend was good.

BK had a playdate with N and she's never had one, so that was fun. She showed him the freezer?
Her reasoning: he's never been here. He hasn't seen it.

We did have to have a chat with her after. We created a boundary of "don't go in mom and dad's room"
    Guess who was there. Twice.

    Anyways.

M is quitting vaping but also has a bit of a sinus cold, so he's been off and on all weekend.
  • It's my birthday today and I have a busy day at work.  DH sent flowers and we'll get food delivered for dinner.  We had a family dinner on Sunday night to celebrate.

Last week I broke our car!  We have a small SUV and when I went to open the hatch, the whole trim piece containing the lock button and license plate lights came off in my hand.  Took it to our repair place and found out they'll need to replace the entire piece because the clamps are part of the piece and have snapped off.  Found out yesterday that they no longer make the part (it's a 2015 Captiva and no longer made) so now he needs to locate an entire back hatch to get the parts we'll need.  In the meantime the hatch is not operable and we're getting DH's walker in and out of the back seat.  We won't be able to take his scooter anywhere until the hatch is fixed.  I hate car issues!

@Casadena - I'm glad everyone is feeling better at your house.
@short+sassy - Your H's pace would drive me crazy since he has the time to do things and you are working full-time while he's playing computer games and drinking coffee.  Sorry to sound harsh but it's time for that CTJT.

  • @MNNEBride, Happy birthday!  I hope you all are able to get the hatch fixed sooner than later.  So annoying when what should be a minor problem becomes a bigger one because parts are "discontinued" so quickly.

  • Happy birthday!!! @MNNEBride I’m sorry about the car situation. I know that’s really inconvenient and stressful. I hope you have a good rest of your birthday and they find replacement parts easily!

Work today. It’s just exhausting. Grandma is home so that’s good, but I wish I was able to check up on her physically this week to make sure everything looks good. Hopefully mom can stop by to check instead. Otherwise SSDD.

I can see how that would get annoying @short+sassy, how much work do you have left? In like days worth? Maybe he’s waiting for the very last minute since you have him the spring timeline?
@VarunaTT I hear you on so many levels. Often times I’d love a live in SO but then I wonder… can I do it after living alone so long? And would I have to give up my house? My house is the size of an apartment. Not that two people couldn’t live in it, heck I bought it from a family of 3 (maybe 4, I think they had a daughter in college).
    happy birthday @MNNEBride!

  • @CharmedPam, it's a few weeks left for our own house.  Probably 1-2 weeks of the other house.  But that's for someone working efficiently and mostly full-time.  We have a punch list I need to review, which will be a good starting off point when I talk to him.  It's a lot of small things.  He has gotten most of the bigger items done at least, though our fence still needs a couple boards and our deck needs stairs put in.

The other bigger project is our hardwood floors.  They need some love that he thankfully is able to do.  He's about halfway done with that.  Our laundry room needs a new ceiling.  Thankfully it is a very small room  More like a short hallway between our kitchen and our bedroom.  Less than 30 sq ft.

That ceiling fell down about 10 years ago on Christmas Day.  He did a quick repair at the time.  Might have even used the same piece.  But it's looked shady ever since and bows down in places a bit.  He started on that yesterday.
