Tuesday!

Re: Tuesday!

  • @VarunaTT, Wow!  I am SO sorry that happened to you!  I hope it turns out to be a blessing in disguise and your next job is even higher paying and a great fit.  It's horrible that person got their way.  If your direct boss was happy with you, that's what should have mattered the most.

Great idea about using ChatGPT for cover letters!  When I'm job hunting, I tailor my resume and cover letter to each specific job.  Which is the smart way to do it, but then I quickly get tired of it and apply for fewer things because it's so onerous.
I had a basic one that I would then tailor to each place, but I haven't had to have one for the last 8 years?  It'd been long enough that I was going to have my resume professionally evaluated again, but I'm already getting some nibbles, so I guess it's not necessary.

Thanks ladies.  It's been hard because there's definitely a part of me that wants to rage, lash out, and oh man have I been craving alcohol, but I've been doing a good job at "making productive choices" and maintaining my boundaries with myself.  Last week was hard b/c my period showed up after like...IDK 12 weeks-ish?  So of course my brain was being really mean, but I got through it. Harley is unsure of having me at home.  :D

  • When my SIL was expecting my two nieces, my oldest niece said that her sister was going to 'grow up with god'..  We have said to the kids that their cousins are in heaven to listen to our prayers.    As Catholics we believe that a baby that passes is a saint and that's how we view the family lost that way.  I realize that's not the same for everyone so how to talk about it with kids is going to vary from home to home.

@VarunaTT it looks like you're handling this the best way you can and moving forward.  I hope it's a blessing and you find a better office fit for you!
I love the phrasing of "grow up with God". Thank you.
  • I did also splurge on the Spanx dress pants. I figure pants that make me feel good are worth the money, so anything else has to be relatively cheaper!
Yes, If they make you feel good they are worth it. They are also high quality. I had a turtleneck and T-shirt from there years ago and they never wore out! I just got tired or them!
Good to know, thank you!! I’m hoping they’ll work!
  • Damn @VarunaTT that’s a whole lot! I’m sorry that happened to you.

Definitely use chatGPT to draft a cover letter for you! Then all you need to do it edit it. Starting from a blank page is the worst.

@VarunaTT, I’m so sorry that happened! Crazy how the works of some people can make that happen.  Glad you’re staying away from the alcohol.  That TOM is the worst. Pick up some chocolate because you probably want something something right now.  If not chocolate, your favorite treat :)

I’m sorry it’s been a rough week @MNNEBride, glad you get some self care

  • I'm so sorry about the job @VarunaTT

@MNNEBride *hugs* it is so hard to be a caregiver. If you're not part of a forum or support group of caregivers I strongly suggest it. It can be really validating to hear from other people and to have that community in what is a very isolating role.

  • Thanks @levioosa, I am part of an online support group of caregivers, specific to Lewy Body.  There are a couple of in-person groups in my area but they meet in the early afternoon which doesn't work for me since I am still working full-time.

  • @ILoveBeachMusic - I mostly had to explain it to younger children for the first time (DD1 was just over 2 when DD2 died, then it's been common knowledge for the boys), so they kind of grew up with an ongoing understanding. I feel like I should have more to offer, but it's hard to think what would be most appropriate for a kindergartener who learns this is a possibility for the first time.

I would definitely watch for stresses; once kids get the idea that "death doesn't just happen to old people" it can quickly add up to "death could happen to me."

I'm really sorry for that poor teacher, and your grandkids.

Thank you Flan. I, of course, immediately thought of you as I do often. I will pass on your recommendation to DD to watch for stresses like you said. I am enjoying watching your kids grow up on FB. DD1 looks so much like you!
