Pretty ssdd here, except that I have a middle school orientation for my oldest this evening...jeez.  Don't feel ready for that.
  • @ei34, Whaaattt?  Middle school!  Time has flown.

Not much going on today, other than I'm really busy at work.  Prudie will be a welcome distraction.

I went to Walmart yesterday because I really needed a new glucometer.  I primarily check my blood sugars with a continuous glucose monitor.  It has a sensor attached to my arm that gets replaced every two weeks.  But I also need a back-up glucometer that uses blood, to double check a new sensor works and just have an alternative means.

My old glucometer finally ran out of strips.  But it's a name brand and the strips are stupid expensive.  Like $137 for 100 strips. smh.  Walmart has a generic one where the glucometer is $20 and the strips are $19 for 100.   The one I bought included 50 strips.  But when I got rung up, it ended up only being $4.88!  That is not correct at all.  I don't know if it is a faulty bar code or what, but cha-ching!

One thing I like about my CGM is it tells me where my blood sugar is headed.  The old blood glucometers didn't do that.  But now a lot of them do, including the one I just bought.  I wish that technology had been around when I was first diagnosed!

  • The glucose monitor your describing sounds like the one I use.  Not as often as I should, but I do.

I picked out paint yesterday.  It matches the carpet well but a boring gray since the blues and greens didn’t look right. So I made the executive decision (it’s awesome when you’re the only CEO) to get some quotes on some wallpaper in conjunction to paint.  A gray to me is plain and boring and safe.  I need some pizzaz. It’s going to be costly because I need to hire a pro for it, but in the end, the room will be the way I want it! I’m excited for my vision.

  • We did an accent wall @charmedpam because everything is gray in our house and I love it, I’m so glad we did. It’s a slate blue color and looks so good with the gray but it’s not overwhelming. Highly recommend!
  • I am hoping to have paint picked out by the end of the weekend! And love youre plan for wallpaper!

SSDD here. Getting my hair done tonight after work since book club was canceled again. It's a group of mom's and teachers from school and seems like everyone's been super busy lately! Hoping to catch them for dinner with no book sometime next month. Luckily a local salon had a last minute opening tonight for cut and color that i booked asap since i was planning to be out of the house tonight anyway. New place/stylist so hoping it goes well!

That sounds like my kitchen! I did gray with a blue accent wall.  My house is either gray or beige. Actually my guest room is forest green and it’s quite nice!
i’m going back to my childhood where my favorite room (I got to pick) was black carpet and silver walls.  Whomever buys my house from me better like the dark side…

good luck with the new hairdresser @Casadena

  • Man, yesterday was rough. I had the friggen meanest, most difficult patient yesterday who just took everything out of me for the week and on top of it I spent three hours charting on them alone and didn't leave until 8 pm. So workout yesterday was a bust. It was one of those days that made me think, "why do I do this?"

Two more days of work. I made a big mistake and bought TJ Peanut Butter cups, and then I made an even bigger mistake and brought them to work where they're on my desk, just staring at me, and I am incapable of saying no. Oops. At least once they're gone, they're gone.

Yay and hugs to graduations into middle school and high school! Those are big mile stones!

I also love accent walls @CharmedPam
@banana468 our district is (annoyingly) choppy, it's two PreK -2s (depending on where you live), then a 3-4th gr school, MS is 5-7 and HS is 8-12.  My family's big tearful goodbye was our beloved PK-2 school.  This current school won't be too hard to say goodbye to (though I'll personally miss all three kids being at the same school).
  • @ei34 for our town we have 3 elementary schools that are K-4 (and there's a preschool program in Chiquito's school.  We didn't use it but you *could* have kids in there longer than we did).  Then we have one MS for 5-8 and the HS for 9-12.  With the kids 4 grades apart they were only in the same school for one year and now we move on with a 5th and 9th grader next year.

I have honestly more of the feels for the MS due to how the teachers supported us over the last year.
  • An opportunity came my way yesterday for a short term project. It’s a big ask but it’s coming directly from our CEO and a team I collaborate with a lot recommended me for it. I want to do it.

My manager (who I generally live working for) is a mess (he’s getting divorced) and MIA. He did bring it to me and it sounds interesting but since he mentioned it he’s gone AWOL again- even his admin doesn’t know where he was this morning. So my team is currently a mess and there’s this new shiny thing I could work on, but I want to make sure it aligns with my career plans.

So, I guess one of our tenants is moving out, lol?

With no pretext, she just sent my H a text message that asked when she could bring the form that would release her to move.  She's on the Section 8 housing program, so I assume she is talking about a form from them.

So, first off.  We need a written and signed notice of her intent to vacate with a move-out date and we need at least a 30-day notice.

She's been a good tenant, overall.  Though is the one who apparently never switched the water bill into her name, so now the former tenant is getting screwed with those charges.  Still have no idea why the former tenant didn't shut the account off when she moved out, much less let it go on for a year.

I have a strong suspicion the current tenant's water has been shut off or that it's imminent.  From my understanding it was supposed to be shut-off a couple months ago, but she still had water after that date.

The whole thing has been a mess.

Finding a new tenant is always a hassle.  I can raise the rent by at least $300/month, so that's the good news.  BUT if my next tenant is S8, I'll end up with a 1-2 month vacancy while we go through S-8's process.

S8 is weird.  They will only approve a nominal annual rent raise for a current tenant.  But the minute it's a new tenant moving in, they'll approve the rent comps plus 10%.  Or at least that's what they think they do.  You're usually lucky if it's at least the rent comps.

    Dear The Knot,

How can I upvote this post 1,000 times?

Is he still going to be the Republican candidate?  Is it too late for them to change that?

The sad thing is, there are probably a lot of people who would still vote for him.  Even though he is facing jail time.  It's madness.

That happened here locally with a long-time Congressman.  He was up for re-election, but was heading to court on multiple counts of bribery-related crimes about 8 months after the election.  He had already been stripped of all his committees in the House because of his pending charges, so he was pretty useless as a representative.  He'd been under investigation for awhile and when the FBI finally made their move, they found something like $40K in cash, in his freezer.

He barely lost!!!  At least he did lose, but I was disgusted how close it came.  Who were these people voting for someone that might go to prison? So dumb.

He was found guilty and went to prison for about 4 years.

  • It still amazes me that a convicted felon can run and be elected president while a convicted felon can't vote in an election. Explain that to me please! I'm not convinced there aren't enough crazies out there to still elect him. I'm not very optimistic about this election.
    That irony hit me also.

The presidential candidates walking out of their voting booth is ALWAYS a photo op.

I will be LMAO when Trump's is missing.  I guess they'll have to make do with just the Melania photo op.

I have seen "what if" scenarios on if a POTUS can govern the country from a prison cell.  Apparently there is nothing that says it can't.  It wouldn't be in time for this election.  But I feel like "not currently incarcerated" should be a qualification for President that gets added to the Constitution.
