Wedding Woes

Prudie Day?

I'm again so ready for the end of this week.  Plus I'm going to see Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom on the big screen on Saturday.  I've been looking forward to it for forever it feels like.  I'm not even sure I did see this on the big screen as a kid.  I have my new contacts in and they already feel better.  My allergist also prescribed an eye drop so hopefully that'll help with the rest of the problems and my eyeballs can get back to feeling normal.

Otherwise, SSDD.  Don't have too much to do today.  I'm cancelling Netflix b/c I'm pissed at their new change.  They're getting rid of the "basic" plan of $11.99 to force us down to the $6.99 with ads or paying $16/month for now ads.  They make plenty of money and I'm tired of this nonsense.  It says I've had this membership since 2008, but I honestly think it's been longer, like 2003, 2004-ish.  I was getting DVDs back when I lived in the apartment with my BF/exH.  I've tried to cancel it twice and I keep hesitating.

Re: Prudie Day?

  • @VarunaTT, I would love to see Temple of Doom on the big screen again!  You were talking about Dune the other day.  They had a double feature of Dune and Dune II at one of my local theatres a few weeks ago, though I didn't go.  It was even free admission!

I noticed the other day that Hulu is charging me something like $24/month for "no ads".  I understand they can't remove all the ads because of whatever agreements they have with networks, but I swear I don't see a difference at all from their basic plan.  I need to change my plan!  I'm mad at myself that I've been paying three times as much for months without much benefit.

  • I’m on that plan with ads.  Actually all my streaming is the cheapest option with ads because I just grew up being used to them. Plus, I’m fat and “ad time” means snack time for me :)
I’m still locked out of my apple account so I literally asked my IT guy “are we still offering droids? I’m ready for a droid at this point. I’m done with apple”. He said “yes I’ll give you some options”.
I never had an android before but FU apple!!! Why are you making it so hard to recover my pw, log in or even create a new id?  Also, I won’t have the new phone, thus a hotspot till Monday so I hope my 4 hours/month from my personal phone allows me to hit the road earlier.  I should have done this process a week ago, but I feel as if IT should help me with all my issues same day.

  • I've been using it for 18 months now and I still hate my iPhone @CharmedPam. I realized it's all what you get used to, but even though nothing is HARD about an iPhone, almost every function/process requires 1-2 extra steps that you don't need on an android. It's maddening.

We have a cleaning service coming to give us estimates next week, got couples counseling scheduled for end of the month and boys got haircuts scheduled for after school - so we're killing it this week. Going to a water park hotel (Great Wolf Lodge?) for the weekend and are looking forward to it. The room we have has bunk beds though so i'm a little skeptical the boys will actually sleep, lol.

We go to Disney the 3rd week of October, so all our dining experiences and stuff are available to book in about 10 days. Do we need to do those? Any suggestions for 3-5 year olds? We are both very overwhelmed with the amount of options. They love Pixar, Monsters, Inc, Aladdin, Beauty and Beast, Moana, Encanto as examples.
  • Good morning.

I'm so ready for the weekend.  I worked 10+ hours yesterday.  I'm trying to not do that again today.

    Prudie coming up.  :)

Also, every factoid i read about Tim Walz makes me so happy. I'm hoping and paying and vibing with all i have that he and Kamala can pull off a win in November.
Agreed.  Joe Biden stepping down was the best thing he could have done for the country.

  • The ads just piss me off because: Netflix has plenty of money without them, this is just about greed.  If they had kept my basic, I would've been fine.  My other problem is that most writers know they're writing for streaming and they didn't write in commercial breaks.  Also, the commercial breaks are put in by a computer, b/c it's just willy-effin'-nilly in spots that don't make sense and can really ruin the flow of whatever you're watching.  OH AND Netflix keeps canceling things I love anyway and most of their new stuff I haven't been a fan of.  I keep hesitating because I am in their preview club so I've gotten to see some things early and give an opinion on them, but it's not worth it.

I need to go cancel right now while I'm hepped up.

I just canceled mine this morning for this exact reason! I don’t want ads, but I’m not paying the $16/month when I was paying like $9 for the same service. Good bye Netflix.
  • What an effing week. The funeral was yesterday and it was just so sad. I know they usually are but this was heartbreaking. My three cousins spoke and they did a great job but damn it was rough.

M finally went back to school today, on his birthday! Can’t believe he’s 4 already. Wild.

    Happy birthday M! @charlotte989875
I’m annoyed at the Netflix change too. Toying with downgrading to the 6.99/mo with ads bc we all do enjoy a lot of what they have here. Annoyed that I think I’m paying…$8-9/mo currently for now ads, and now they want almost twice that?! I liked that I felt like I was being rewarded for not sharing the log in, it’s just my household (and we only have one tv at that). And I’ve lost that feeling.

@casadena I’ve heard fun things about Great Wolf, enjoy! At Disney I recommend a Mickey character meal. Topolinos and Chef Mickeys are both a lot of fun (Topolinos food is delicious, CM the food itself is decent but it’s buffet style and truly picky eater proof). Where are you staying? A skyliner resort makes Topolinos a convenient choice and a monorail resort would be chef mickeys.  I think one TS (table service) restaurant per day is nice to have, but there are also some incredible QS (quick service) dining options between resorts and parks. I adore Beauty and the Beast and personally love Be Our Guest restaurant, but it gets mixed reviews. B&the B experiences include Enchanted Tales with Belle at MK and the Beauty and the Beast show at HS. There’s a beautiful Journey through Water with Moana at Epcot. There’s an Encanto singalong at MK.  My kids aren’t huge into the others but I believe there’s a Monsters Inc experience at HS. If they like Toy Story (which I think is Pixar?) HS also has a whole Toy Story land that’s neat. (Also some Toy Story dining options there)

@ba@banana468 I hope your plans aren’t being rained out!

Just in from a brunch with coworkers.  I’m at a tricky place with my current book (Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano) bc I’m dying to know how it ends but also don’t want it to end.

Gah, I'm so reluctant to be hopeful. I want to be hopeful. I definitely feel a little better about November now as opposed to a month ago. But I also feel like complacency is something that people need to actively fight or we'll still lose.

@charlotte989875 *Hugs* and awe, four years has flown by!

Ugh I'm right in the middle of a show but I feel like canceling Netflix too now. Like wtf is all of this greed?

It's my Friday today (yayyyy). Debating what to do this weekend. There are some family shenanigans going on and my aunt is being a real piece of work. Grandpa is having another surgery in September so I'm feeling pressured to spend a lot more time with them because nothing is really for sure at that age, even for simple procedures.

We have our botox appointment on Saturday, finally, and I finally got to reschedule my laser hair treatment. I had it scheduled for the 19th, and then I had a weird spidey sense that maybe I knew the person who would be doing the treatment (they didn't work there before, but I had a random thought about it), so I called the clinic and yup, it was her. We're cool, but not stare at my vagina cool. So at least that appointment will be with someone I have no relationship with. lol. I also think I'll try a new gin recipe this weekend. TJ had some lemon elderflower soda that would probably go great with some Empress Gin and Elderflower liqueur.

  • Lol getting the hoo-ha lasered is awwwwkward AF! I would never want someone I know to do that but man do i love the results. Milan books up SO fast, even when I say “I’ll just jump on my lunch and go.  So like 11, 12, 1.. lunch hour acceptable” it’s still difficult to get me in.  Don’t even talk to me about nights and weekends!

i want to shop for something fun.  Spend money something fierce.  I bought some eyeliners and travel perfume sprays, but it didn’t satisfy an actual shop for me. I’m eyeing sparkle… and that’s never under $170!
