Tuesday

How's everyone?  Wishing all a good day!

Re: Tuesday

  • Not too bad here for a Tuesday.  Work is ssdd, bringing a neighbor friend dinner tonight bc she had a procedure this morning.  I took the easy way out and offered meatballs bc I have a bunch in my freezer from my last big pot of sauce -admitting that they were frozen and I'd be thawing them in weeknight marinara - but she still eagerly accepted, since her daughter (who's close with my girls) loves meatballs.
My parents are slowly improving.  Had a good "what in the actual F" Convo with one of my sisters last night over a ridiculous family thing and that was cathartic.
  • Had a pretty graphic and horrific dream last night and even though it's 10000000% fake, i'm still kind of shaken this morning. Bedtime continues to be f**king terrible and i was dealing with it from 7:30 til G finally fell asleep at 10:30. They won't stay in their rooms/beds, we've tried more freedom/independence, less, idfk. I'm tired.

Hoping to send H to his parents house with the kiddos for at least a few hours sometime this weekend. I need a couple hours of quiet house to de-clutter a lot of toys/trinkets and organize the coat closet for winter stuff before Christmas.

Meatballs sound great @ei34 and I hope things go well for chiquita @banana468 - those infusions are so difficult (H did them for a few years to get his UC under control).
  • SSDD here.  I was going to clean out my pantry but my recycling bin is pretty full for tomorrow’s pick up, and also - lazy.  So that will be next Tuesday now.  I got my advent calendar from macy’s yesterday and in true CharmedPam fashion, I opened it all at once.  I love good Girl perfume and this had a sample with the CUTEST lil shoe, but that and the coach sample is pretty much useless because it’s not a spray.
    GL on the infusion @banana468

  • SSDD here.  My new book nook is supposed to be here today and I'm excited.  It was such a good thing for my brain, I think I've finally found a hobby that I like.  I have a whole list of "buy this one next".  I have no idea what I'll be doing with the stuff and that's totally fine.  I'm  not going to start promising them to people, b/c once I do that, I ruin it for myself.

I'm trying not to be a crybaby about something.  I had signed up for a top tier Patreon membership on my favorite F1 podcast.  My name is supposed to be read at the top of the pod, along with the other "daddies".  It wasn't read on the newest podcast.  I'm trying to remind myself that the podcasts were probably recorded before I started the tier, but if I don't hear my handle on the next one, I'm going to email them.  I find my internet handle hilarious (it's a Bowie reference) and want to hear the hosts say it.  (Which, TBF, I joined one of their live shows for the qualifying and they were singing the handle, so I shouldn't be such a baby).

Nothing much else.  I'm cracking up, @CharmedPam, b/c I would've done the same thing.  It's why I don't even try with advent calendars.  My aunt got my mom a really cool one though.  It's a puzzle.  There are a certain number of pieces in a box for each day and by the end, it's a BIG complete puzzle.
  • I spent 4 hours on Friday with our technology team trying to fix a required software. And now I’m at the end of another hour with the tech team plus the vendor and it’s still not working. I’m literally watching them do everything they did Friday and watching it fail. I just want a damn computer that works.
  • My colleague who facilitates our new hire orientation is out with Covid so I've been covering for her.  That used to be my full-time assignment but it's been almost a year so I was a bit rusty.  She's been out since last Thursday and is really having a difficult time.

DH and I started watching High Potential last night.  Pretty good show.  It's been raining the past few days here and they are predicting a dusting of snow this week.  It'll be pretty but doesn't need to last lol.

  • @ei34, I would also never turn down homemade meatballs, even if they are frozen!

@banana468, good luck to Chiquita today.  I'm glad the longer intervals between infusions have been working well.

@charlotte989875, I feel there are few things more frustrating in life than long standing tech issues.  Especially when the experts don't know what is wrong.  Crossing my fingers for you they can finally figure it out.

Having another good and productive day at work.

I discovered there is a paper ream box with Halloween candy still in it, near the front door of the room I work in.  Now I see where my annoying "loud slurper/chewer" coworker keeps getting his lollipops from!  The next time I stay late, I'm going to take a bunch of those lollipops down to the other floor.  Muhaha.

I'm teaching our dog a new word this week, "cracker".  We used to have these dino treats she loved.  She learned the word "Dinosaur" in only a few days and would completely freak out if we said it.  They were one of the few things we would let her eat in the living room.  We would sneak them behind our back and then ask if she wanted a dinosaur.  But as she got older, the dino treats were too hard for her teeth.  I've been trying to think of a similar non-messy treat that we regularly have in our house.

The last month or so, I've been doing my own "Lunchables" meals.  Ritz crackers with squares of cheese and turkey or ham.  I hadn't really given her crackers before, but gave her one over the weekend to see if she liked it.  The next time I took out the box of Ritz, she immediately recognized it and was "very interested".  Even more so than with the cheese and turkey!

My H and I really like this show also.  The main actress is Kaitlin Olson and I have always enjoyed her work.  She's great in comedies.  I realize High Potential isn't a comedy, per se.  But it does have light, funny moments.

  • Okay is anyone else watching Doctor Odyssey? Because I love Joshua Jackson so much. #TeamPacey
  • I have it on the list, but I just watched Royal Pains and it felt a little too similar, so I haven't started just yet.  I love some Joshua Jackson though, from back in the Fringe Days (I was a wee bit too old for Dawson's Creek).

I am also!  He is cute and I like how they portray his character as smart and caring.

I do feel guilty about liking this show, lol.  Of course, I wasn't expecting a serious, hard-hitting drama.  But it's even cheesier than I was expecting.

But I especially enjoyed a line from the wedding episode.  For those of you who don't watch the show, an ultra-rich woman rented out the whole ship for her daughter's wedding.

Her daughter had bought a size 4 vintage Vera Wang wedding gown that could not be altered.  Except she needed to lose weight for it to fit her.  The daughter got really sick one afternoon and the mother called in the doctor.  She told him her daughter had been taking that Ozempic (majorly mispronounced the name), but still didn't fit into the dress, so she took double her normal dose.

Then the line, said in a high-society Southern accent, "I TOLD her she should stick to losing weight the old-fashioned way like me and my friends did.  Diuretics and laxatives."

As someone who takes a similar GLP-1 drug, I was expecting to hear the same aggravating bullshit about "people don't need medication, they just need to diet and exercise".  It was refreshing and funny to hear this woman praise a way to lose weight that actually is cringy and unhealthy.  And meant to come across as a yikes to the audience.
