I have two older sisters, “Addison” and “Shawna.” Addison got married recently and Shawna and I were at the wedding party. Unfortunately, so was Addison’s friend “Mariah,” who became involved with Shawna’s ex-boyfriend after they broke up just over a year ago. Cutting to the chase, Shawna and Mariah ended up in a fist fight. Neither was seriously injured, but now Addison is blaming me, claiming I should have kept an eye on them to make sure they didn’t get into it. This is insane, right?

    If you didn't have any understanding that Shawna was about to engage physically with Mariah then what would you have done?  Even then it would have simply been, "Girl check yourself.  You don't get to ruin our sister's wedding because you're sad your boyfriend moved on." 

    Also, the bride is IMO out of line if she's not also pissed at Mariah if she was equally as engaged in the fist fight.

    What? How should LW have been responsible for any of this? Addison needs to call out Mariah and Shawna for behaving this way.

    Tell Addison that Shawna and Mariah are adults and you are not responsible for their behavior. If she wants someone to be mad at, then she should be mad at them.

    Unless she used her words and asked you previous to the wedding to keep an eye on any potential problems, your sister needs to take it up with the misbehaving bridesmaids.  AND, even if she did ask you, just asking you to keep an eye out for problems, doesn't mean you can stop them, so she still need to be taking it up with them.

    Also, how gross of them all.  I agree, someone is like 16 in this story.
