Mother's Day was really nice.  My kids do their best to surprise me in the morning, it's always very sweet.  They served mass and we had a nice visit with my mom too.
Two work friends are receiving tenure tonight, I'm our department's social committee so I got in a bit early to set up the festivities (fruit platter, box of Joe from DD, sheet cake, tulips).  They were both very happy walking in this morning, I'm happy for them.
This week should be fairly routine - not too much evening stuff, thankfully.

I spent all morning booking some Salem events. I’ll be in Salem during America’s bicentennial AND Salem’s 400th year birthday. I expected more events. They’re doing a “250 year revolution” tour but everything else looks on par to normal every day activities around the 4th.
Anyway, I spent some $ on some tours and then my aunt texted “your mom told me what you got them! You’re so generous! Any deals I could look at?”
I got my parents a cruise (with tips paid and 2 excursions). It is an inside cabin. I’m finding my friend and I are OK with those and don’t even USE balconies. But I know some people need them. They’re nice but I’m buying a cruise/excursions for 3, not 1. I can’t afford balconies. My mom and dad were both like “oh. It’s an inside cabin. Can we upgrade? We get claustrophobic”. And to be honest I was hurt at their response. I guess don’t do anything nice for anyone unless you have $6,000? I told my friends and one was like “yeah you may as well have put them on the bottom of the titanic”. She’s such a snarky bi*ch I couldn’t tell if she was being sarcastic about their reaction or that I only bought inside cabins for all. I don’t make that much, and I don’t even know where my job is going. Plus, the experience is on the SHIP, not the room you go to just to sleep and change… anyway, I sent a link to my aunt (who is more than happy with any stateroom) and noticed the price went down $200 a person!!!! So my travel agent adjusted our reservations. I’m so happy! They still aren’t getting a balcony though….

Mother's Day was easy.  I had gotten Mom her gifts early b/c I wasn't sure if I'd be moving or not.  I took her a hamburger and onion rings (that was her request) and we just visited.  I'm still not sure what she did to her phone, but I had to do a factory reset on it.  She was upset.  I kept reassuring her she didn't do anything wrong, that it's super easy to accidentally download something from an ad anymore, I just couldn't figure out what was happening and the factory reset was easier that spending hours tracking bugs.

Got my keys for the new apartment and did a walk through.  The management company was disappointing, as expected.  They hadn't even cleaned after the previous tenants moved out.  It's so much bigger (probably 3 times the size I have now) and so many windows!!!!  I'm so excited for Harley and me to have space and sunshine and a garage again.  I have finally found condos that are for sale in this city, so I will be working to save a down payment.  I just don't want a house and all the things that go with it.

Otherwise, SSDD.  Nothing big going on, just starting to prep for the move.
  • Mother's Day weekend was great. Saturday was the twins' first communion. They had some speaking parts and did very well. They were fine until afterwards when we wanted to get pictures and absolutely refused. So no entire family photos (my two sons and DIL were there along with my cousin who is GS2's godfather). Oh well, if we had pushed it the pictures wouldn't have been good anyway. DD and SIL hosted a lunch afterwards which was nice. Then GS2 had a baseball game at 3:30 and GS3 had on at 6:30. It was the first game of the season. H and I had lots of fun watching - it brought back lots of memories from when out 3 kids played ball. GS3 cracked us up with the joy he exhibited hitting and running the bases. He is playing t-ball so it was easier to make a hit. All the boys loved having their uncles, aunt and cousin there. We came home on Sunday.

This week we have delivery of our new bedframe, a handyman coming to fix a skylight on our screened porch, paying for like 3 trips and trying to figure out if we are definitely going to Scotland in August. We are concerned about  flight cancellations in Europe. The other trips are our family trip to the beach next month and a trip to Italy next year (hopefully things will be more stable by then). I also have a doctor's appointment. I'm seeing my gynecologist. DD says I should still see her to manage post-menopause symptoms even though I no longer need a pap smear since I had my hysterectomy. I guess I'll just talk to her and see what she recommends.I'm also not sure what medicare will cover.
  •  I’m so happy for all that extra room and space for you and Harley, @varunaTT
@ilovebeachmusic, I take it that it’s not a direct flight to your destination? I’m watching carefully for mine too, also in August. The intercontinental flights are OK, but the domestic ones seem to be cancelling. I am in a few FB travel groups, however, and not many people are posting about domestic flight cancelations overseas. They were before but I’m seeing less of them. Hope that eases your mind. I tend to still go. I have a flight to Germany and then Romania. And it’s one of the problem child airlines too, Lufthansa.

Sounds like a wonderful weekend @ILoveBeachMusic
So happy for you @VarunaTT, and Harley too, with all the natural light and windows to look out of
A cruise is such a generous gift @CharmedPam, I can't imagine any response but "thank you"!

Yeah we are flying British Air which doesn't have great reviews. We fly to London then to Glasgow. Coming home it is Edinburgh to JFK - I've heard horror stories about JFK when re-entering the country. We only have a 2 hour layover both ways. From the groups I'm in on FB the recommended time is 3 hours! UGH!
