@charlotte989875 hope the last minute packing is going okay!

Today is the seniors' last day of classes and the pranks are rolling in.  The DDs will play their final softball game this evening (I think...they are in the playoffs and it's against a team that mercied us in the regular season).  So lots of winding down today, yay.

Current FWP is Hamilton just announced that Christopher Jackson is returning to his role as George Washington this fall.  My kids really prefer the original characters in that musical bc of how often they watch the originals on Disney+.  There are a few dates with seats less than $200ea, but I'd have to act fast.  Decisions, decisions  :#
  • Lol I’m so dumb because I had to google what FWP was. Thought it was a theatre in NYC. Don’t mind me. I’d love to see that again. I think I can see that, six and & Juliet over and over again.
Yesterday I went to see “obsession”. If this is the #1 movie right now….America, we have a problem. It was sooooo long and drawn out and boring. Even the speech was slow and drawn out. They could have cut out a lot. Also, I went right after work and thought I was fine to have dinner afterwards. I was not. All I could think about was how hungry I was. I thought it would be over “soon” and should stick around for the end, but all I could think of was food, so I left probably 10 minutes before the end. Lol.
Tonight is Scary Movie 6 because we have yet another round of storms coming through tomorrow so I suggested it for tonight instead. Look at me utilizing my amc pass!

  • Oof I just did the same to look for tickets and....that's more than I would prefer.  With her activities we'd need to go between Christmas and NYE and at over $400 / ticket I would prefer to not have a girl's day cost nearly $1000 before we ate food.

Safe travels if we don't "see" you before you leave! @charlotte989875

SSDD here. I took yesterday off of working out..the first time in 1 month? 2 months? My foot was feeling better until I stood on it to cook for an hour. Ugh. I did buy some waterproof headphones and a swimcap so I can try swimming again for cardio. My day is decently busy today.

I am sick of concerts and events being hundreds of dollars. I feel like I'm missing out but I just can't justify spending $600 for two people before we even calculate in dinner or rides or a hotel. It's absolutely disgusting. And I'm so so mad that this DOJ suspended the law suits against the events monopolies because of course they did. I want Lina Khan back  :'( I'm soooo happy for you, NYC. lol.

Hope your foot heals soon @levioosa but swimming sounds fun!
Yes on those broadway tickets. Even our local smaller venues go for $100+, and that’s not broadway. We have to get the season subscription or now, I’m leaning to hottix.org or todaytix. But those aren’t guaranteed great seating.
Work gripe: I just read an email about new reorg changes mid Aug and just accepted a meeting with the VP next week. So that’ll weigh on me until then.

  • Yeah @levioosa Hamilton tickets are still just commanding SO much $$.  I think @ei34 and I are lucky that we can make it without hotel cost (it's a LOOONG day for us but doable) but that musical is just so expensive.

I want to see Lion King on Broadway as well and will see what that can shake out to be too.   Last year we saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and it was amazing.

There’s a Ludovico Einaudi show at Walt Disney Concert Hall coming up that I desperately want to attend but the tickets are $600 each! Insanity!

Yeah, the upper Mezzanine ones for Hamilton were over $400 ea.   Closer to $850 if we were in orchestra.   I....just can't stomach it.   But even this weekend DH is pricing Yankee tickets at over $100.   It seems to be what it is.

It’s a crying shame I wasn’t born with any talent.

I'm here too.  The Hamilton tickets rose quickly from $181 to well over $200-300.  I'm out.  Can't justify that for a play we've already seen, no matter who is reprising a role.

Chiquita has only seen the Disney+ version.  And she's seen a Broadway show now for the first time (Just saw Hadestown in April w/ her school) so at this point I'd wait for traveling show or a less expensive option.   Even Tom Felton didn't command that kind of $ when we saw Cursed Child.

And while I want to be a cool mom and form some great arts and humanities moments with my kids, I also need to avoid just....making it rain for shows like this.  In the same way I didn't try to jump at T Swift tickets 3 years ago and don' really regret that I didn't (and had we at the time she was so sick it would have been a non starter in the US anyway).
