Residual smoke from Canadian wildfires is doing a number on our air quality.  It's been going on for about 24 hours and hoping it clears soon.  Healthy vibes to anyone else impacted!

Had my mammo this morning, then dropped my car at the mechanic for its annual inspection.  Just hoping it's done by the time I have to pickup the kids from camp.
  • It is GROSS out.  It's looking orange outside and I have to wonder if baseball practice will be cut short.  Chiquita is at camp next week and I hope the air quality improves for her.  Thinking of my northern midwest friends today.  It is ROUGH when I saw the quality noted for MPLS and Wisconsin!
  • I hope so too,@banana468, or rescheduled altogether?
It’s funny because I started to get a sore throat yesterday and told my admin depending on that, I  may not go in to the office to spread it - or gett worse from sitting on a crowded train. But in the news this morning they said to avoid the outside as it will reach the 250’s AQI. It’s 5 min after I park and a 10 min walk from the station to the office so I opted out anyway. But maybe that’s where the sore throat came from? My friends and I were going to spend the day outside on Sunday but we’re supposed to get this the next 4 days so that may be out. Thanks Canada!

  • I think baseball may be on but limited in practice.  Luckily it's not a sport of as much exertion as say, soccer.  Next week with Chiquita in camp I wonder if they'll pivot to indoor activities.

I hope everyone is staying safe with all of the smoke! Wildfires are so sad.

Not too much going on today. Work and then gym afterwards. Kitten is back with us and being adorable. She cuddles all night, but not in a suffocating way. She even does this thing where she pats around until she finds your leg and then lays down cuddled against it. And the whole time she is purring so loud. My heart. Next week we take her to the vet and get her tested for FIV/FELV (she was too young before). I really hope my friend can take her.

@charmedpam I never got to respond the other day but Boo to C and her shenanigans.

  • We have air quality alerts here through tomorrow. It was worse this morning than it is now. I went outside to feed the birds before 8 am, and it was gross. Hazy, smelly & my throat hurt when I came in. I chatted with a friend just west of St. Paul, and she said it was so smoky there last night, it was as if a house in the neighborhood was on fire.

I heard back from HR and my supervisor today, and they won't change the scope of my job to allow me to work from home more often. I knew this was a very real possibility, but I am still disappointed. We'll figure something out at home for the days I need to be on-site.

Out-of-town friends are visiting tomorrow night, but not many other plans for the weekend. Depending on the weather, we may not want to leave the house anyway!

  • We are fortunate to not be effected too much by the wildfires. We just in a moderate AQI range. DD was saying the camps in their town were all moved inside. She could even smell smoke in the OR. Not good. However, my nose and throat are scratchy and runny so maybe  I'm reacting to the smoke I can't really see or I'm just coming down with a cold. H is having the same symptoms. None of the grandsons are complaining of it thankfully. DS1 and DIL arrived last night. We are hoping to go to the pool today, weather permitting. DS2, DD and SIL arrive tonight. Tomorrow morning we have family pictures done. FX for good weather.
