Hair straightener. I'm kicking myself right now because I almost bought a CHI on cyber Monday, but figured it wasn't worth spending $100 on a new straightener while the crappy one I have still works. Well guess what broke this morning....
So now I'm on the hunt for a new straightener. I do want to get a CHI (or something of similar quality) because I've bought countless 'cheap' straighteners in the last few years that don't work too well to begin with, and then only last a year at most (I think this one only lasted 6 months), so I figured it's best if I invest the money into a good one that will last me a while.
I want to keep it at or under $100 since I don't actually straighten my hair every day. So what do you use?

[QUOTE]There are quite a few Chi ones on Amazon under $100. I have a $30 Remington one that has lasted 2 years. Once that dies, I'm getting a Chi.

I normally buy everything I can from Amazon, but the reviews aren't that great. Apparently people are getting fakes (separate dealer that just has orders fulfilled by Amazon), so I'm wary of going through them...
[QUOTE]Oh well that sucks. I hadn't read any of the reviews yet.

Yeah, and even if you do get a genuine one, CHI won't honor their 2-year warranty. This is directly from CHI's warranty page:
"This warranty does not cover any steel parts; plastic parts; fl ex cord; damages caused by negligence, misuse, tampering, alteration, failure to follow safety, operation or maintenance instructions; <strong>appliances purchased over the Internet or through any Internet auction site or from any other outlet that is not a professional salon</strong>"
So looks like I'm going to Ulta after work...lol.
[QUOTE]I don't know if you have Ulta stores/salons by you, but they usually have 20% off coupons and are on sale for $100, so you can get one for like $80. I'm in the same boat as you, I've had the same cheap straightener for like 7 years, but I can't justify getting a new one until this one breaks. Good luck!

I've been looking for a coupon, so if you find anything online, let me know!
I bought a Sedu from folica almost 3 years ago and I love it. If you get a CHI get the turbo, so that you can adjust the heat.
[QUOTE]I just bought a "Herstyle" one this past weekend at the mall. It's normally $200 but got it for $90...the plates are fully ceramic and not just plated...supposedly better than a CHI. I am happy with it. My hair is long, thick and curly--the salonist straightened it in 20 minutes. I was amazed. I think they have a website--just google it. I got a year warranty and can go back to the mall for a year and get my hair done for free. Pretty cool.

<div>My mall has one of these kiosks in there, and they keep trying to sell it to me. It is pretty awesome when they do it, but my mom bought me a really nice hair straightener for my 12th birthday that just died on me, and I'm so scared of spending 100 odd dollars on something that I'm worried isn't going to be nearly as nice, lol.</div>
