Stardreamer: I'm glad I could help. Newlyseliski and Kamakanini: Your pictures didn't show up when I replied the last time!  I hope you didn't feel left out. Everyone here has fantastic churches!  It makes me wonder if there is such a thing as an ugly Catholic church.

Definietly is and I'm getting married in one. Our church was built in the 70s so it has terrible green carpet, etc. We decided to marry here anyway though as it is the church I was baptizied, given first communion, confirmed, altar served in and basically grew up in while my FH took RCIA and converted here also and we attend mass there. So the ugliness was overshadowed by what it means to us as a couple.
In Response to Re: Where are you getting Married? (pictures!) : What a beautiful church! Those churches on the Cape are usually so pretty. I'm partial though to Christ the King in Mashpee-- we always went to mass there growing up when we were on the Cape- still do. I would to have loved to have married there if we lived closer!
    Posted by KFAW63012
We did look at Christ the King also because the groom;s parents lived in Mashpee but the bride in love with Our Lady of the Assumption at first look. It was an out of town wedding for almost everyone else.  The church holds 250 comfortably so that was perfect.

A couple of weeks ago we found out that it was the church Maria Shriver and the idiot were married there.  We don't believe in curses so that's a good thing ;)

I'm sure hundreds of people have been married very happily right there! :) Just remember, a Kennedy wedding followed by a Kennedy divorce has happened in a lot of the churches in that area of the Cape. It has nothing to do with the church...

We're getting married at Saint Patrick's Cathedral in NYC. FI and his Dad are honorary ushers there for Midnight Mass and Easter Mass.

And it's the closest Church to my apartment!

We are getting married at my church where both sets of my grandparents and my parents were married. Saint John Nepomucene Catholic Church is located in my tiny town of Ennis, Texas. I have always dreamed of marrying in there. Here are some pics.

This is my church at Christmas time...we'll be married on December 31 so all Christmas decor will still be up!!

This is the outside of my church:

Mater Dolorosa Church in New Orleans
This is an old postcard image of the church from the 1910...

This is what it looks like now...

The outside doesn't look like much, but it is absolutely beautiful inside!

I think the outside looks gorgeous.  I love the spanish vibe.  Seriously, this is 10x times better than a lot of the parishes around here.

No don't get me wrong, I think it is beautiful outside too. It just doesn't compare to some of the other pictures of churches people have posted.

I have goosebumps from how beautiful these churches are! My FI and I are getting married at his home town church. He practically was raised there because his parents were so involved with the church. Holy Family Cathedral.

Just a typical Cathedral on the outside. TBH,They all start to look the same on the outside

But it is absolutely stunning on the inside.

Lol... very true.  Especially if you have a lot around you.  Like I said before, in my city we don't have many pretty churches, so I'm always amazed when I see one.

I remember in Italy though, you pass a beautiful old catholic church every block.  Sometimes multiple in one block.  As a tourist, you're amazed by each one, but the italian people just walk by them like they're a mcdonalds or something.

Like my friend started calling them, "ABC--another bloody cathedral".  It's a shame that they lose their beauty when there are dozens of them.
