Good morning! Has anyone else's FI been kind of flaky about helping with planning? My guy has been really good at throwing curve balls my way as I'm about to finalize any detail for the wedding. So of course, last week - as I'm days away from putting 50% down on our reception location - he announces that there are certain things he wants his reception to be and now won't budge. To clarify, he and I have discussed the pros and cons over and over in the past couple months and he agreed on reception place #1.
With his announcement last week, I told him he needed to take over the research and calling places. To my surprise he actually found a decent place that offers pretty much everything we both want for the reception - and at almost 1/2 the cost! The problem is they cannot book their function room on Wednesdays because it's the only day of the week they host their public luau. They can, however, accommodate us the day before.
My dilemma. Our officiant is not available the day before our original wedding date. The other dates she offered are not feasible due to travel days of my VIPs. My MUA is available and willing to switch dates. What would you do? Would you eat the cost of a small deposit made for the officiant and book someone that could accommodate the day that works for the reception location?
