I've been throwing around a couple ideas....boudair photos, a BICO charm/necklace (he already has one that I bought him, but I'd get one signifying love or something like that), something to do with hunting/fishing....  I'd be interested to see what everyone else is doing too!

I was thinking of a watch or cufflinks he could wear the day of - I'm trying to think of more creative ideas too.

I'm definitely doing boudoir photos. I know of several local photographers who do stunning work who will do them for free in exchange for taking the time to do other photo shoots that will benefit their portfolio. Easy, cheap and fun.

Do you mind sharing the names of those photographers? =)  Thanks!

I definately want to do a boudoir session for my FI's gift...but I don't know how cheap it really is. I've started saving. Here are the ones I am looking at: Epagafoto (awesome pics, but on pricier side), Kansas City Boudoir, darbi g (awesome pics, but a little pricey), and I Do Salons, and they will do your hair and make up).

I also wouldn't mind names of those who will do them for free in exchange for other shoots. Thanks.

Hey ladies! I am actually going to e-mail a few photographer friends who do trade work and ask if they don't mind if I give out their names. I will get a nice list of names and e-mails together for everyone. In the meantime, I will recommend the absolute best photographer I know in the Kansas City area. He only does free shoots with select models and I'm certain that anything wedding related he will charge for simply because he has enough of that sort of thing in his portfolio. He is an incredibly talented individual and models travel from all over the country to work with him. I have had the pleasure of working with him myself several times and I cannot say enough good things about him. His name is Stephen Melvin and his website can be found here: http://stevemelvin.com/

I'll start e-mailing other photographers and get a list of those I can recommend for you ladies :)

I've got a name and e-mail of a photographer who will do some trade work. His name is Lars and he is a really nice guy. His e-mail is: larsomatickc@gmail.com.

Ladies take note: many of these photographers I will recommend do a lot of artisit nude work. Do not misunderstand me, they do not make pornography. Nothing lewd, spread leg or overtly sexual. Just "fine art" nudes. If you aren't sure what that means, Google fine art nudes and you will see the type of work I'm talking about. Usually black and white, very soft and artistic. Many times body parts are covered, which is called "implied" nudes. However, nobody I work with requires a model to shoot nude. If you're comfortable with nudes, they will shoot them. If you'd rather stick with lingerie, you will not be asked to get naked. Make your intentions clear up front to avoid any uncomfortable situations.

I don't think I would ever do boudoir pics after what happened to my mom!  She did them for her 2nd anniversary gift to my stepdad back in 2003, and just recently they showed up in her inbox.  She only bought two pics, but she got an email from an exotic photography business with multiple pictures of her, all of which she did not purchase, telling her that her test shots had been accepted and a high end client wanted a movie of her!  She asked where they got the pictures and they told her they found her account on a midwest swingers website!  The photographer she had was very credible and established at the time, but now she has disappeared!  What is even more odd, this company had pictures of her and her new email address.  We still can't figure out how they got them, since my mom doesn't even have them, or how they got her name and new email address since the photographer didn't have it.  Luckily, they weren't extremely raunchy photos, but it is still a bit too unsettling for me to consider doing it.

You should always check references first. Because that is super creepy!

Oh she did... they lady wasn't just a some woman with a house and a camera... she was a very expensive, very well known photographer in Overland Park.  She recently went through a divorce and moved away, so maybe some home problems?  Too creepy, though.
